The office got me in with another doctor which was fine. I am currently having some issues and called two weeks ago to see Dr. Dhaliwal. The staff never informed me that I needed a new global referral to see him. I drove 40 minutes and arrived at my appointment this morning and the office staff told me I owe $100 upon which I said my deductible and out of pocket expenses have been met for the year so I don't owe anything. The girl behind the desk said I need a global referral and I said nobody mentioned that when I booked the appointment as I would have made a call to my primary - not a big problem. The girl said just write a check and I said I will not!!! Then the brilliant side-kick stated that the girl did inform me that I needed a referral as they always do that. I said, "Really. Who was it that booked the appt and informed me of the need for a referral. She said, "I don't know but I know you were informed!!!!!" I was not informed. Why would I drive forty minutes with no referral when getting a referral is just making a call to my primary physician? The staff is rude and uniformed as well as unwilling to accomodate when they screw up. Dr Dhaliwal stuck his head out and asked what's going on and could have said it was an error on their part and waive the hundred dollars. Instead he said I should reschedule and get the referral to see him in spite of the fact that I have an active referral but addressed to his partner's name. SAME OFFICE AND ACTIVE REFERRAL!!!! I told them I drove forty minutes just to not be seen or to have to pay an office visit when my deductible is met!!! I walked out and will not return. Uneducated and ignorant as well as rude is all I can say about the office staff. NO WONDER THEY ONLY HAVE TWO AND A HALF STARS. I will get a referral to an office and doctor that has five stars.

Right from the appointment confirmation to billing everything is an issue. Everyone hides behind some obscure policy in the document to charge extra fees (including rescheduling). I understand appointment scheduling can be challenging but at the same time they could be considerate. Doctors cancel and reschedule citing emergencies all the time but can't patients allowed to sometimes? Last time I was there, the doctor arrived almost 60-75min late citing an eye surgery. I understood there can be emergencies. So do regular people...Anyways, just want to share my experience and be very careful while making/changing/cancelling an appointment. I read some other reviews on here and I had a similar experience in the waiting room, workers openly taking about a poor work environment, that was the first red flag. I also had my eyes dilated unexpectedly which another lasik clinic I went to, did not do this. Not a huge deal but how about a warning prior to the appointment or letting people know how much it's going to affect their day for the next 4 or 5 hours. Anyway, after I hear about the details of my procedure and AGREE ON A PRICE....which by the way was packaged to me as a "friends and family deal" for $3600....I arrive to my appointment on the day of the operation only to be taken through one final machine/test! They need to see whether or not I'm a candidate to pay $600 more for a slightly better outcome! Why doesn't this machine exist at the consultation office along with the 4 or 5 other machines/test I had gone through already? The answer is obvious, it's a chance to get people to pay $600 more if they want the best possible outcome. Price goes up to $4200. I won't and didn't go along with changing the details and cost of my procedure MINUTES before my procedure is scheduled to be done, that's absurd and I would be surprised if more people don't just walk out like I did. On top of that, I don't know what brother I had that experience with, but his demeanor was very poor in handling my reaction to him changing things the day of operation. Also, turns out $3600 is the standard price, friends and family was just part of the sales pitch and then once I'm there the price goes up! I have a condition where my eyes are cone-shaped; because of that, Visionworks recommended me going to a specialist. If I constantly have to go to this place and the specialist, I probably will not go to this place, but we'll see. I thought the eye exam was thorough and well done. Our insurance covers $300 for frames so I ordered some new glasses, my current ones are probably five years old or older so I definitely need a new pair. I was already in the area so I arrived for my appointment a bit early. My husband arrived five or 10 minutes late one time and they turned him away so be aware that they are pretty punctual. My guess is because I think they just have the one doctor for eye exams. They had a nice selection of glasses as well, if you're looking to get new glasses. I would return to this location, but I will admit I missed my old ophthalmologist and the nice waiting room, etc.
