Furthermore, they finished the job in 3 days while other painters quoted it takes 1-2 weeks. I wish I could give 5-star. The reason I gave 3-star is he stopped communicating with me to provide receipt/invoice. I needed it for tax credit. Initially, corresponding with Steve was easy. I had a great feeling from him at the quote meeting, so we booked him for about a month out. The week of the agreed-upon date, he let us know that weather caused them to lose a few days, so we'd have to wait a week. No problem. I'm flexible when people communicate well. For the second agreed-upon date, my husband and I took off of work. Three days before, I emailed Steve asking what to expect and what he needed from us. Nothing. Then, they didn't show! I called, my husband called, nothing. We took time off from work to be stood up. A week later, after the Memorial Day holiday weekend, he sent a short text to my husband saying he could have guys there that Thursday. No thank you. We are taking our business elsewhere. After pulling a bunch of muscles, spraying the ceiling and the floors with wall paint, I found Steve on yelp, his team was excellent. This is the second house I've had Steve paint for me. (The last one was in 2016.) Steve was again extremely communicative and professional. Most contractors are hard to even get on the phone, but Steve is fantastic with email, phone, and text communication. His crew was also very polite and professional. They were good about repairing rotted window sills and shingles. They also went the extra mile to clean up some old chipped sidelights. The final product is absolutely beautiful! We hired Steve and his crew based off of the many positive reviews he had on yelp. He quickly scheduled an appraisal appointment the same day I contacted him. He showed up on time and walked through our home and answered the many (MANY) questions we had for him, all with a smile on his face. After getting 2 other similar quotes, we felt like Steve was offering us the most bang for our buck, as he had offered to paint around our fireplace and our front door. His crew came and started right on time, however, after doing 4 rooms - they left tons of paint on our floor, splatters on our shades, and had painted a room the wrong color. They lazily did not remove outlets or light fixtures (as we had been told they would), and didn't paint behind the toilet. After contacting Steve at the end of the day, he ended up sending a different crew to work at our house and fix the many mistakes (at a personal cost to himself). We were so worried after the first day, but Steve remained true to his word and sent two amazing guys who worked very long days to take care of everything. It's rare to find someone in the home improvement industry to actually cares what people will say about them, especially after we spent the rest of the time very carefully examining the work. He has since gotten rid of the first crew he sent, and you should ask him if Gino is available for your project, he was AMAZING. read more

I religiously use Yelp to gauge businesses and relied on it heavily to find a painter for my new (to me!) house. We needed every inch of our 1930's colonial home repainted (and some of it de-wallpapered). We're talking walls, trim, ceilings, closets, doors... everything! Novicki Painting came in with the lowest bid (by far - at least 1K less than the 6 painters I got quotes from). I couldn't be happier with my decision! Steve and his guys came when they said they would, they worked long hours, and they devoted extra time to my project when it took longer than expected (my ceilings took 5 coats of paint to cover up the damage from the previous owner's smoking!). There were lots of little things that came up and Steve kept me updated every step of the way. I've had people in and out of my house for the last two months doing different jobs: plumbers, contractors, carpenters, electricians, etc. Steve's was by far the best team I've worked with overall. He made things that were stressful feel effortless. He was always there when I had questions or needed something else. He came up with ideas on how to make our great house - amazing. I would hire his team 100 times over. There are a few things that need touching up (some because of other people's work - some because half the time I had him painting in the dark because we had no lights!) and Steve has been incredible about staying in touch and staying available to come do the final touches on our paint job. Why can't all contractors be like Steve? My life would be so much easier. Punctuality and attention to detail are of primary importance to me, and Steve has those qualities in spades. He is always responsive. When he says he will be there at noon, he's there at noon. When he says his workers will be there tomorrow, they are right on time. And they work hard, all day long, in the blazing sun. It was 100 degrees here on two of the days they worked, and it did not slow them down. His crew worked all day long to get the job done right. And it was hard work. They removed the aluminum siding from our house and demolished a garage. Their stamina was truly incredible. Then they prepped the house, scraped off the old paint, filled the nail holes, replaced rotting wood and painted everything. It looks amazing now. Our 2nd fl sunroom water pipe burst and destroyed the first floor sunroom. We hired Novicki painting Co. unfortunately the owner was going through medical/health issues so he was unable to be on site supervising his workers. Absolutely nothing went well. The experience is too long to list in full. But We think about the shoddy work everyday when we step on a previously solid custom cut threshold that no longer fits where it previously did, when We very carefully close windows and to avoid window sills from coming loose. When we walk on the floor and listen to it creak and especially when we step on a spot where four corners of tiles meet on a hump, kind of like expecting to step on a flat floor but stepping on a rock instead. We also remember the shoddy workmanship when we look at the 3 missing curtain rod brackets which were thrown out, but one is still there. We had to threaten to withhold part of the payment to get the trash removed. It was removed but only after a great deal of recriminations from the owner who said we were heartless making him work after surgery. How could this company get so many great reviews? Steve of Novicki Painting and his crew are professional, courteous, and have integrity, something hard to come by in this business. We began an indoor and outdoor project, painting my home, in late 2018, and ran into some really poor weather. In the end a few areas got rained on and paint ran, but it was now too cold to paint. There were also a couple of areas that needed touchups indoors. I was in touch with Steve a couple times over the winter, and he even reached out to me to let me know he had not forgotten me and would get a crew back out to finish the job. In the end I had to remind him, but he was totally amenable and communicative about getting the job done. He and his crew finished today, and treated me with respect the entire time. My wife and I hired Steve Novicki to paint the entire interior of our house. It's a small house (not quite 1200 sq ft) but we wanted absolutely everything painted. Steve promptly gave us a quote - including paint - and set up a four-day window to do the work.. When the first day rolled around, his guys were there promptly when they said they would be. When my wife and I got home from work after the first day of painting, we were amazed by how great everything looked. I emailed Steve to let him know that and he responded to thank me - which told me that he's diligent in checking his emails, even at night. The next day went the same way, and that was Friday. The painters took the weekend off, which is understandable but also much more convenient for us, since being home while they're working would be a pain for everyone. Monday came and they continued as usual. Everything still looked great, and Tuesday was going to be the last day of painting. Very early Tuesday morning, Steve emailed and apologized profusely and said his guys had an emergency and couldn't come in that day. He promised that he would send extra guys and they would finish on Wednesday. Stuff happens, and we didn't hold it against him at all - and we had budgeted a couple of extra days, just in case, which is probably a good idea for any multi-day project like this anyway. My wife and I did a walk-through and we identified a few things that we had questions or comments about, and Steve responded and assured me that they would be fixed. At the end of the last day of painting, everything was great and we couldn't have been happier. Steve's team cleaned up very nicely and left us the excess paint. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we recommend Steve Novicki very highly. read more

This review a bit overdue since the job was completed a little over a month ago. However, better late than never! Simply put Steve and his crew did an amazing job! We hired them to paint our whole condo (1,200 sq ft) and they did a phenomenal job at painting, repairing holes on the walls and patching up other areas where the walls had cracked as a result of settling. From the very first time i contacted Steve, he was professional, timely and very honest with his quotes. We had 3 different companies come out to quote and even though Steve was not the lowest, he certainly provided the best customer service and the project far exceeded our expectations. Steve and his crew not only completed the painting but also were incredibly available to help us with other minor projects that came up as we planned our move into our new place. Let me start by saying that i'm rating my total experience, not just the actual job. The first appointment I made with Steve he text me about an hour before to let me know he wouldn't be able to come by due to mechanical issues with his truck. So I rescheduled and he was a no show for the second appointment. Then he text me the following day to ask if I still wanted my house and walkway power washed. No mention of why he was a no show the prior day though. That's not professional at all. What if I would have taken the day/days off from work to accommodate? The job he did was actually pretty good. We hired Steve to do some interior and exterior (stoop) painting. After his team completed the work, we asked that he redo parts of our bathroom because the areas around our sink looked sloppy and the job seemed rushed. They had matched the paint for our stoop, which was great, but never told us what the color was so that we could do some touch up that was required. I asked several times for the paint color and he never responded. I definitely would not hire him again - for $2800 I was disappointed in the results. read more
