I had an emergency roof situation where a huge tornado-like window caused my over 100lb chimney cap to blow off. Unfortunately for me, I live in a rowhouse in Boston where I literally do not have any roof access at all, let alone the reach to adjust and fix a chimney cap that is an extra 30 feet high away from the nearest sky light. I could see the damage but I certainly couldn't reach it. And to be clear, this is not the type of roof that is eagerly serviced by many due to the height, difficult access and complexity. I emailed out to 15 different yelp roofers, of the few that responded with an ability to service (or at least look), only WRC roofing was understanding of the situation and agreed to act as quickly as possible. Even though it happened mid-afternoon and they were far away, they were willing to come asap and arrived within the hour to assess the situation. We discussed and agreed on an action plan. Will really took the time to explain everything and truly look at the issue without being dismissive or patronizing. He is friendly and super approachable and the consummate professional. His and his wife's entire calm and patient demeanor put me at ease that they both knew what they were doing and were empathetic to our panic at the entire situation. Due to insurance reasons, I could only hire him initially for emergency services to quickly patch and prevent more harm/damage while the insurance adjuster was being assigned to my claim and performed their assessment. He went to prepare right away, we got a quote pretty quickly and accepted his help. The weather kept him from actually doing any work that same day (started raining and lightning) so he offered to comeback the next day to fix the issue. He arrived on time with all his equipment. He was respectful of the entire property he was in and working on. He talk through all the safety precautions he would take without any hesitation when I asked him, demonstrating his experience and knowledge of these types of roofs (think steep slope and slippery slate). The patch repairs looked clean and presentable even though it was just meant to be temporary. I thought they charged a fair price/hour for the emergency service as well as for the transport. I never felt bullied, pushed over, or upsold on anything. He gave us copies of his workman's comp and insurance prior to starting. He communicated so well throughout the ENTIRE experience. His team was quick to provide contracts and invoices. He took lots of pictures throughout his work and sent them to me afterwards. He even went above and beyond his responsibilities because while he was up there, helped me get rid of a piece of slate in my gutter I just happened to mention off hand that was bothering me when we assess the roof. He just offered and did it! As for the actual repair, he fixed some areas of broken slate shingles, put a nice new metal cap on top of the (out of use) chimney, and installed a brand new copper gutter for me. The metal cap was secured fully with bolts and it looked extremely neat and tidy. He took plenty of before and after photographs for me so I could see the progress and the changes. This was important to me so that I could follow along. Along that line, his communication was just superb. He was immensely polite and professional. He made sure to notify me when he was on the way and also at the end of the day when he was done. He updated me frequently on progress and next steps and he listened to my concerns and we had a discussion about the roof repair instead of him just doing whatever he wanted. My only critique was that overall, it took him longer than he originally stated. However, he did a fantastic job and everything looked really nicely done. I am extremely happy with the outcome. I wholeheartedly recommend him to others and would be thrilled to see his business grow.

They also cut the refrigeration line to my air conditioner unit which I had to pay $2000 to get it fixed. I've been patient and given them plenty of time to address this and they'd come up with one excuse after another. It's been a waste of time and effort dealing with them. My next step is to take them to court. This is insanely annoying! I'm also surprised they showed pics of my roof on here. It's a Mickey Mouse job. The whole deck is crooked and was not done correctly. They obviously did not use any form of measurements when cutting the wood!

Peter Duffy's team took over the work that our previous, nightmare-of-a-contractor had started…read more From the start, Peter and his amazing crew, Oliver and Alan, showed up at our house first thing in the morning, and didn't stop until 5pm or later. They accomplished more in one week than our first crew did in 2 months. Peter was truly invested in the project, and it was clear how much he cares for his clients and his crew. Every step in the process was a collaboration: Peter scheduled appointments between us and the electrician, HVAC crew, and plumbers so we could all walk through the house together and talk through what we wanted and what would work. Peter also made suggestions throughout the process that improved the plan and house in ways that never would have occurred to us. At one point, Peter's crew had the idea to move an original built-in cabinet to another wall in order to open up the dining room to the kitchen, and it changed the entire flow of the house in the best way possible. Visitors always scratch their heads in disbelief when we tell them that the built-in was moved - they insist it looks like it has always lived in that corner of the room! Peter uses the best materials for his builds, and the finishing work is outstanding. Oliver is an incredible carpenter, so our new stairs, kitchen casework, trim around the walls and doors, and tile work in each bathroom is absolutely gorgeous. The existing walls in the house were in bad shape after we removed the wallpaper, so Peter's meticulous painting team patched and repaired all of the walls before painting. The walls are now absolutely smooth and look brand new. The few times there were issues, Peter and his crew addressed them immediately - things were corrected by the following day. Our entire project was massive, and Peter coordinated the work of all of the subcontractors seamlessly so there was never a day that no one showed up to work. Peter's prices throughout the project were also reasonable, especially for the quality of work and materials that they included. Our finished home is more beautiful than we could have ever imagined - we are beyond happy and grateful to Peter and his crew. But once we had paid a retainer and had them working on a quote for the rebuild of a historical deck, they were unresponsive and communication was non existent. We hand-held them through the application process but they didn't listen to our explanation. The "contract" they sent us to sign was incomplete, missing entire sections and had errors, which we had to point out. Still they didn't revise it. They refused to let us review materials prior to submission to the Historical Commission, which was required given the historic designation of the house. Kept insisting they knew better and had experience working with historical commissions. Their quote for custom rebuild of the railings and columns was so overpriced, that even the Historical Commission staff was astounded. Finally they pulled out of the contract because their Commission application was about to be scrutinized, and they had a lot of work ahead. They did return a nominal amount of the retainer to us. The company had come highly recommended, yet our experience with them was sub par.

While some contractors would have taken a shortcut and simply have installed the lighting as is, Ryaan and his electrician Chris, who was a perfectionist, made sure that the vendor was held accountable, and they refused to install the product until the issue was resolved with the manufacturer. It should also be noted that Ryaan and team are in constant communication from the project inception until the very end. Kristina, the project manager, is unbelievably responsive. You really can get in touch with her around the clock. The workmanship is impeccable, and it's the first project I've done with a nonexistent punch list. Ryaan took care of small details before I even mentioned them. Finally, I want to add that they are just nice people. I really do think animals are the best judges of character.
