I spoke with someone who answered the phone, who said the head person was out but I would receive a call back. I never did. - I called back the following week. I set up a pickup date, and I mentioned the discount code I was sent via text as I am in their system. - This discount code was not honored. I failed to notice when I paid the bill because our home is under construction, and when I called back to remind their manager she denied that I was ever sent this. When I explained that I couldn't have dreamed up such a code and it was part of the reason I gave them my business again, she still refused to honor it. - When she called to let me know about setting up the delivery, her tone and her comments were accusatory "arent you reading my emails, I have tried to reach you". I apologized, but she proceeded to say "we cant store your rugs here" - again in a very accusatory tone. The email oversight was my bad, my intention was not. As anyone who has had to go through a renovation knows, details can easily get lost when you arent living in your home space. Also, it's like those ASMR videos of people cleaning filthy rugs and you're like "it was red this whole time?!" That's how I felt when the rugs came back and I unfurled them from their paper casings. The colors are so vibrant and evenly tufted. I feel like I've grown out of my family's incorrect conviction that wool rugs don't need deep cleaning - they really do! My lungs are happy! The weird smell in my house when we've been gone for a week is also gone! Anyway, it's work to move all the furniture away and roll up the rug, but definitely worth the effort (you need to sweep under there anyway, guarantee it). This was especially helpful with the wire shelving in my rental. Now everything is grouped together, visible, and easy to access. I spoke to Jim on the phone to book the service, and he was really friendly and helpful. He said his wife Rose would be in touch with a quote after I texted some pictures of the room. I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator.
