Had an amazing dinner here with a friend on opening week! We started off with some kimbap topped with caviar and cocktails, both were very good. We ordered the Bushwick Buldak Pizza and the Banban Burrata Pizza as our main course. Really tasty and a really interesting take on some classic pizzas with Korean flavors! The hostess, staff, and owner were all very attentive and accommodating even during busy dinner hours. The interior had a trendy, hip hop meets kpop feel, that you only really find in Nowon East Village and now Nowon Bushwick. Tbh the service made this spot a 4 star place, the pizza was kind of mid but the classic burger was gas. The weird part is that it didn't taste like a smash burger but it was still great. Genuinely one of the best meals I have had in awhile. We did the Classic mixtape which included whipped ricotta toast, "Caesar" broccolini, gochujong fried chicken, chopped cheese rice cakes, honey butter tots, the legendary cheeseburger and the chefs choice dessert which was black sesame crème brûlée. Every single dish was perfection. The rice cakes were my favorite. They are so delicious and comforting. The flavors of the ricotta toast were also excellent. The various elements of the toast complimented each other beautifully. The staff was super friendly/sweet. I indicated on my booking that it was my boyfriend's birthday so they brought us an extra little dessert with a sparkler. It was so cute! I have been telling everyone I know about this meal and plan to be back very soon! read more

I have some mixed feelings about Nowon's Bushwick location, but I would rate it a 3.5 overall. I'm rounding up to 4 because I love their concept and the original location in the East Village. The Bushwick location is larger and more spread out, which I appreciate, and I do love the eclectic decor and ambiance. That being said, I think the execution of the dishes at the East Village location is better and the service is a bit tighter. Hopefully this location will improve with time (it's only been open since summer 2023). My husband and I started off with dirty martinis, which arrived quickly. Unfortunately, they consisted of at least 50% vermouth, which was pretty unpleasant and overpowering (we switched to soju afterward). For food we ordered the charred broccolini a la Caesar, which is one of my favorites at the East Village location, along with the Bushwick buldak pizza and the dry aged burger. The broccolini was not quite as charred as we've had it before, and the Caesar dressing had an oddly thick and gluey consistency, almost like a roux. It also didn't have the same level of acidity or garlic as the version at the other location, which was somewhat disappointing. The pizza had a nice char, and the chicken on it was tender and flavorful; however, buldak is supposed to be spicy (it literally means "fire chicken" in Korean). This was not spicy at all and definitely seemed to cater to more sensitive palates. The burger was decent but not quite as juicy as the other location. All in all, if I had visited Nowon Bushwick with no point of comparison, I would be a bit more enthusiastic, but I do think they could make some improvements to live up to the experience you get at the original location. Really awesome new spot in Bushwick. Great atmosphere, even better music, and a very creative menu full of dishes you'll want to come back for. Started off with a Frap Star Espresso Martini, arguably the best in the area. Ordered the Classic tasting menu to try a bit of everything and was more than impressed. The 7 dishes are all so different from one another in the best possible way; you don't get tired of a flavor palette or ingredient, and it's evident that a lot of thought and effort went into curating this menu. Standouts include the Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes, the Honey Butter Tots, the Broccolini Caesar and the Gochujang Fried Chicken. The meal ended with a delicious Black Sesame Creme Brûlée. 7 courses for $49 felt like a great deal, and there's still so much more if the menu I want to try. Only hiccup was a slightly slow service with getting our dishes, but that's expected at a new and very popular restaurant, so I don't imagine it will be an issue as they get their footing. The hostess Abby was great and very accommodating when we arrived a bit early to our reservation. We sat at the bar and the 2 bartenders did a great job with our drinks and checking in on us. Didn't get a lot of that "chopped cheese" flavor. The honey & garlic tots thoooooo?!!!! It was perfectly sweet salty and garlicky. Tots nice and crispy. I'm a garlic lover- this wasn't overpowering at all but still garlicky enough. Spicy gochujang fried chicken was decadenttttt. Juicy chicken breast covered in spicy sauce and plenty sesame seeds ( which I don't like too much) but flavor from the seeds didn't overpower The legendary burger was flavorful. My only complaint is needing more pickles for texture. Otherwise it felt very mushy - keeping in mind we added an egg. The kinda Korean margherita pizza was barely kinda Korean but a really good margherita pizza nonetheless. Went back to the Bushwick location for the second time. I had better service when I sat at the bar compared to the individual helping us tonight. The same "spicy" red sauce is used in too many dishes, so many things just taste the same. And that is when there is a taste- the burger barely had any. I ordered differently than I did last time thinking I would get new flavors but no such luck. Nothing was actually spicy, things completely lacked acid and balance. Everything was just one note lacking execution and skill. Nothing was stand out wow or even stand out good- not even the chicken. Nothing special about the burger whatsoever, in fact I would never order it again as I rather have a Big Mac. The rice cakes I was so looking forward to were just covered in the same sauce as everything else and some cheese was thrown on top. I don't know what's happened here but an intervention is needed. Was in the area after seeing a comedy show and this place had a lot of buzz on Tik Tok so I wanted to see what the hype was about. We got in pretty late on Saturday night but were seated immediately. Right off the bat, we loved the vibe of the place. They play a nice mix of R&B and hip-hop jams and have huge screens projecting music videos. The place isn't huge but has a good amount of tables and has an open-kitchen concept. To drink, we had the lychee martini which was sweet and strong! For food, we decided to try the Classic tasting course because it had so many of things we wanted to try off the menu anyway, so it seemed like a pretty good deal at $49pp. Here's the rundown: Whipped Ricotta Toast: This was amazing! Between the citrus jam and the chili oil, it was the perfect ratio of heat to sweetness and the ricotta was so creamy. I could eat this again and again. Charred Broccolini A la Caesar: We really enjoyed this unique take on a Caesar salad. I liked the pairing of the char with the saltiness of the parmesan. It also paired nicely as a side to the other dishes. Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes: I was honestly a little disappointed in this. If you go in expecting this more to taste like a pasta dish, it might be better. I didn't pick up on much spice here but the cheese and sauce were good. Honey Butter Tots: AMAZING. We were obsessed with these. They're, crispy sweet and savory and the portion size is actually quite large. Legendary Cheeseburger: One burger split in half to share. By the time this came out, we were pretty full but this take on a smashburger was done right. The kimchi and pickle added great acid. Spicy Gochujang Nowon Fried Chicken: Perfectly crispy and expertly covered in sauce. I wasn't a huge fan as I don't like spicy food (and this was a bit too much for me) but the person I came with really enjoyed it. They come in soy garlic as well so I would shoot for those next time. Black Sesame Creme Brulee: This was the chef's choice and it was delicious! The Sesame flavor was mild but the creme brulee was crisp on top and creamy on the inside. Perfect way to end dinner! TLDR: All in all, I loved the vibe of this place and most of the food was delicious. I would come back for the whipped ricotta toast, honey butter tots, and the cheeseburger. We've been meaning to try Nowon in the city but just never got a chance to so we were so happy that they opened one in Brooklyn. The place is spacious, cleaned and tidy. The staff, Evan was very nice and seated us promptly. Our server, Robin was very nice and kind. And we also had Caroline as well. She checked in on us and took our plates when needed. Very attentive! We love the food especially the Legendary cheeseburger and whipped ricotta toast. Those were our favorite. Severely underwhelming. Our group ordered the mushroom burgers, soy garlic fried chicken and the mushroom glass noodles. All the dishes had one thing in common - they were SALTY. They were so salty that when I sipped my water, the water tasted baby sweet Jesus sweet. They were so SALTY that my fellow diners had to chug their beers to hydrate. They were so salty that I wish we had those little pickled radish appetizers to balance our palettes out. The sauces of the fried chicken, the shroom burger and the glass noodles eventually all blended together on our tongues into this gigantic salty MSG filled blob, almost bitter. You absolutely need to try the Soju flight and do one of the tasting menu's.
