My partner and I were so excited that one of our favorite east village spots was opening a location in bushwick, and ended up coming to the bushwick location last night! We chose to get one of our favorites (the chopped cheese rice rolls) and then try one of the pizzas since they do not have pizza at the other location. All in all, it was a tasty meal, but I do prefer the rice cakes at the other location, and while the pizza was a fun change of pace, I prefer their burger. We got their unfiltered rice beer in the mango flavor - definitely recommend it! Really great and unique food in Bushwick! The service was quick and nice. The inside of this restaurant is beautiful and there is lots of seating. I got the chicken and waffle for brunch and the waffles were lacking flavor, but I loved the chicken and the syrup it came with. The pizza here is also really good, super thin and a little spicy! The chicken was amazing paired nicely with the pear? I'm not sure what fruit it was but added an extra element of citrus with the saltiness of the fried chicken. Those guys know what they are doing and they will continue to expend their Nowon empire. They took Faro (previously fantastic pasta space) and kept the space but made it clubby and more fun . The food is fantastic and even the pricey fried chicken worth the $$$ cause it's that good . The pizzas are personal (I had the Burrata) it's a dough which is in between the thin crust and the normal and it's just right but yet again the size is for one ,still delicious! A friend and I came in on a Thursday with a reservation. The restaurant was filling up quickly, so I would recommend a res. The space is nice inside, and they offer some limited outdoor seating in the front. Our service was friendly and quick! We split The E.P., a shared five course menu. The menu included their Lil Baby Kale Salad, Nowon Spicy Gochujang Fried Chicken, Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes, Honey Garlic Butter Tots, and a (shared) Legendary Burger. This gave us a nice variety to try and we were completely stuffed and unable to finish. Everything had a nice presentation and was cooked well. The salad had candied walnuts and their sweet pop was great. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, but it wasn't spicy. The chopped cheese rice cakes were pillowy and such a unique take! The honey butter tots were killer, but definitely heavy! By the time we got to the burger, we could only have a bite or two, but it was juicy and well cooked and had great flavor. I love the merch and the design of the place. Super spacious seating area with a super cute bathroom for selfies and self care. I came here with one of my girls for some QT and they did NOT disappoint. I'm a sucker for a well-made cocktail but this time around I'm fasting for Lent so I opted for the mock tail which was equally exquisite. My friend got the Lychee Keen which she enjoyed. For our meals, we opted to do the 5 course meal so that we can sample everything. You can choose between the E.P which is 5 course and the other one which has 7 courses. We started off with the romaine ceasar salad which was delicious. Then we had the chop cheese rice cakes which was the star of the night! OMG this place was amazing. First of all we had reservations (that require a card on file for a $20 cancellation fee per person if you cancel), and I don't know for sure but it seemed smart to have a reservation. We were there and it wasn't packed, but shortly became so. The playlist was GREAT which made the vibe amazing too. Omg the drinks- I had the kimchi cocktail- the Big Head- which was slightly savory but jesus sooo delicious and well curated. My parents also had excellent drinks- a soju and a beer. To start we got the Honey Butter Tots and the Spicy Cukes and Tofu. The tots were addictive I could've gotten many more but we were tempering ourselves. The cukes were also good, nothing exceptional but I needed some crunchy veggies so it was satisfying. For our mains, the brocollini with candied anchovies was great. We also got the K-Town Smoke Show pizza which had just the flavor you would expect from smokey mushrooms but even better with all the rest of the ingredients. So well curated. It was my birthday and they even brought out a candle for us to celebrate with the absolutely delicious bread pudding dessert. For real If you dont get the bread pudding you're seriously missing out. Really delicious gastropub that I'll definitely be bringing all of my friends to for some good old comfort food. The cuisine is Korean American, and in the best way. Most of the dishes are definitely heavier/more indulgent so pair wonderfully before/in the midst/after having some drinks. The brocollini was great with candied anchovies which I grew up eating and have always loved. Glad we ordered this because I felt less guilty indulging in the legendary cheeseburger which is a double smashed patty with a creamy kimchi sauce. One of the best burgers I've had in my life, truly. I was at a festival across the street and a friend & I wanted to find a place to eat. The name popped on Google maps and I knew I heard of it somewhere(TikTok). We decided to go here. The host was extremely nice and got us seated right away. Because I wanted to try many things and I was with someone else, we got the classic meal which has 7 courses including dessert with all the best hits which was $49 per person. I would have done the E.P meal which is $39 but I wanted to try the ricotta toast with chili oil. As a person who solo dines a lot, I hate that there isn't a deal for us (need two people at least to participate) but I get why. The top items to me on the menu are the chopped cheese rice cakes, the honey butter tots, and the ricotta toast. My friend never had rice cakes before and she fell in love with the flavors. The honey tots made me fall in love with tots which is both my usual M.O. the ricotta toast was a great way to start the meal. I had a good time with the other menu items though I was too full by the time we got to the legendary burger to appreciate it in full. We came on the first day they were premiering a new dessert (bread pudding) but we decided to try the black sesame creme brûlée since it was lighter. The vibes were definitely fun and they played a lot of 2000s rb not only in the sounds but also the TVs. When we went it was not too packed so I wonder how it would feel then. Dining at Nowon is more like an experience at hip hop dance club than a typical dinner. If you're coming here solely for food, then I'd honestly recommend elsewhere. If you want a fun night out with blasting hip hop mixes and a seven course junk food tasting menu, then you'll find few better spots. The nostalgia hits home for Millennials. Onto food. My earlier reference to a junk food tasting menu was serious. Came across Nowon on Yelp and didn't regret our decision at all. It has such a unique menu of Korean/American fusion items. She was very good with recommendations for the table and knew what we were looking for in taste. We ordered the mixtape classic, which started out with the broccolini .... Sooo good! This was one of my favorite dining experiences in recent memory. Every aspect of it was enjoyable. Such a cool space with a very fun vibe. Service was great and the staff were very fun and friendly. Really good drink list with tons of local beers and wines. Every single bite here was memorable. Now hear me out... you'll get their, order the EP and will say "This definitely won't fill me up"... Trust me it will. The staff is phenomenal. They have a "everyone is YOUR waiter" mentality. They were extremely friendly and did a awesome job explaining the concept of the restaurant. The Bushwick location had plenty of seating and even on a Saturday night it was easy to pick up a resy. Now on to the food. 1. The Kale Caesar - Nice refreshing way to start off the courses. The walnuts were surprisingly my favorite part. 2. Honey Tater Tot's - Probably my least favorite. The tots themselves were good but the sweet concept isn't something I was keen on. I think a lot of people may enjoy them!! 3. Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes - What a dope twist to a NYC staple. I'm hilariously not a rice cake texture guy but the chop cheese topping made it great. It was fiancés favorite dish. 4. Spicy Gochujang Chicken - My person favorite. Had an amazing dinner here with a friend on opening week! We started off with some kimbap topped with caviar and cocktails, both were very good. We ordered the Bushwick Buldak Pizza and the Banban Burrata Pizza as our main course. Really tasty and a really interesting take on some classic pizzas with Korean flavors! Genuinely one of the best meals I have had in awhile. We did the Classic mixtape which included whipped ricotta toast, "Caesar" broccolini, gochujong fried chicken, chopped cheese rice cakes, honey butter tots, the legendary cheeseburger and the chefs choice dessert which was black sesame crème brûlée. Every single dish was perfection. The rice cakes were my favorite. They are so delicious and comforting. The flavors of the ricotta toast were also excellent. The various elements of the toast complimented each other beautifully. The staff was super friendly/sweet. I indicated on my booking that it was my boyfriend's birthday so they brought us an extra little dessert with a sparkler. It was so cute! I have some mixed feelings about Nowon's Bushwick location, but I would rate it a 3.5 overall. I'm rounding up to 4 because I love their concept and the original location in the East Village. The Bushwick location is larger and more spread out, which I appreciate, and I do love the eclectic decor and ambiance. That being said, I think the execution of the dishes at the East Village location is better and the service is a bit tighter. Hopefully this location will improve with time (it's only been open since summer 2023). My husband and I started off with dirty martinis, which arrived quickly. Unfortunately, they consisted of at least 50% vermouth, which was pretty unpleasant and overpowering (we switched to soju afterward). For food we ordered the charred broccolini a la Caesar, which is one of my favorites at the East Village location, along with the Bushwick buldak pizza and the dry aged burger. The broccolini was not quite as charred as we've had it before, and the Caesar dressing had an oddly thick and gluey consistency, almost like a roux. It also didn't have the same level of acidity or garlic as the version at the other location, which was somewhat disappointing. The pizza had a nice char, and the chicken on it was tender and flavorful; however, buldak is supposed to be spicy (it literally means "fire chicken" in Korean). This was not spicy at all and definitely seemed to cater to more sensitive palates. The burger was decent but not quite as juicy as the other location. All in all, if I had visited Nowon Bushwick with no point of comparison, I would be a bit more enthusiastic, but I do think they could make some improvements to live up to the experience you get at the original location. Really awesome new spot in Bushwick. Great atmosphere, even better music, and a very creative menu full of dishes you'll want to come back for. Started off with a Frap Star Espresso Martini, arguably the best in the area. Ordered the Classic tasting menu to try a bit of everything and was more than impressed. The 7 dishes are all so different from one another in the best possible way; you don't get tired of a flavor palette or ingredient, and it's evident that a lot of thought and effort went into curating this menu. Standouts include the Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes, the Honey Butter Tots, the Broccolini Caesar and the Gochujang Fried Chicken. The meal ended with a delicious Black Sesame Creme Brûlée. 7 courses for $49 felt like a great deal, and there's still so much more if the menu I want to try. Only hiccup was a slightly slow service with getting our dishes, but that's expected at a new and very popular restaurant, so I don't imagine it will be an issue as they get their footing. The hostess Abby was great and very accommodating when we arrived a bit early to our reservation. We sat at the bar and the 2 bartenders did a great job with our drinks and checking in on us.
