I was leaving for work this morning and noticed I had a screw in my tire and it was completely flat. I checked other places in Roanoke but nothing was available today. I drove to work on a donut knowing I needed help today. NTB had availability and I dropped off my tire for repair. I wasn't sure if it was repairable, but they made it happen! Lloyd was excellent and accommodating as much as friendly and professional. This place does value their customers and you can tell as you get so much for a comparable cost. i have been an NTB user for basic oil changes for years. Honestly, was never comfortable doing bigger things there, but they seemed to be a good place for routine oil changes. typically prices was $30-40, and even had the occasion sale where it wa less. all very reasonable and they seemed to do a decent job of it Went for oil change today and got a price of about $90 (tried to sell me synthetic when this particular location had changed the oil on my kia optima with standard oil for years). So already a little irritated as wondering they just didn't look into their own records to see what they have down for the last 6 years! Regular oil change was still $85 which is pretty high for that type of place. my appointment was for 5 pm and they advised they close at 6. they were surprised I was leaving but advised I would be back before 6. got back between 5:50 and 5:55 and saw car was still up on the jacks. they check in status and had me pay while we waited for it to finish. that was about 6pm. So I sat there assuming it would be done very soon ...6:15 came. 6:30 came, and no one coming around, giving me status, saying just a few more minutes. or sorry about the delay. finally a little after 6:40 car got done without a word. if they knew the car was not gonna be done near 6pm why make sure I was aware I had to be back by 6. the whole thing was just irritating, especially for a price I could get anywhere. I have done probably 15 auto alignments with various cars through the years there, and maybe 30 oil changes, and I still was treated worse than just a generic number. enjoy it yall. am done using your store. We took our cars here for years, but post-pandemic, the quality has really changed. We last took our Honda here for some new tires and were really disappointed in the quality. Given, we didn't opt for the highest end available, but I still expected more than we received. The tires did not last long. On the passenger side, we had one bubble up and nearly blow on the highway within a few weeks of having the tire on. When we took the car in elsewhere, there was no issue with a puncture or anything, but appeared to be a defect in the tire itself. I was pretty disappointed, and at the time, we opted to go ahead and replace all four tires with an entirely new set. We've also been here for oil changes. The pricing and quality was fair, but even with an appointment, expect to wait for double the amount of time they tell you. Most recently, I came here with my older vehicle for an oil change, to which I was told that there were leaks "all throughout" my engine and would need to replace the entire thing. The serviceman quoted me for nearly $6,000 in work. My dad, who was a mechanic, suggested to monitor an oil leakage when we pulled into our garage. We never noticed anything, so we continually monitored oil levels on our own, which remained stable. My husband brought the car to a different service area for an oil change and asked about the leaks "throughout" my engine. The serviceman there told him there were no leaks that would require work, and explained that leaks occur around gaskets at times when the vehicle gets older (ours is a 2004). I was glad to hear that, but also a little surprised that I was told so differently at NTB. Overall, our experience post-pandemic has not been great. The staff are very different and the quality has been really lackluster. We've been taking our vehicles to other mechanics and have had better experiences. read more

Would give 0 stars if there was an option to. Called in for just a quick and simple tire rotation. They said it was free of charge. Asked them if I could come in now to get it done. Showed up and waited for two hours since they never called me to pick up my car even though they said they would. On top of that they charged me $30 for a tire rotation that they said was free. Saying its "not our tire", and that I probably called the NTB help center. I called in straight to the shop that was nearby and talked to an employee there. Even so, I shouldn't be responsible for paying a simple task that's very overpriced because of the lack of communication on their side. Total bullshit. I don't even know if my tires even got rotated. I had my front tires at 34psi and my rear tires at 30psi. After the service I started up the car and drove around for a bit, waiting to see if the psi readings would change obviously if they really did rotate my tires or not. Im never coming back here! And the only reason is because the manager at this place is SUCH A JERK!! He's the muscular (bald i think) white guy that has a stick up his butt. I needed an oil change. He asked me how many miles were on my car. I didn't know and he said, "well you need to go to your car and find out OR ELSE I CANT HELP YOU." I wouldnt mind checking the miles at all but WHY HE GOTTA BE SO RUDE?? But all the car shops i've been to, they look themselves when they pull the car in to work on or check it themselves. He told me it would take about 2 hours for the oil change to be done and he would call. 5 hours later, i still didnt hear from him so i called to see what was taking so long. He replied with, "I thought someone called you. It was done hours ago." SAY WHAT?? I WAS SO MAD!! He didnt even sound apologetic. Such poor customer service!! When i went to pick up my car and was waiting in line to check out, he made a little OLD LADY (with a cane) go back out to her car to give him the miles on her car!! It was raining hard too! Women beware! I was quoted a price of $130 for tire alignment on my porche over the phone. Got there and a manager comes out and tells me actually it will be $430! I was shocked and laughed! I told him that was more than the Porche dealership charges. He said oh well how much do they charge.. I said $350.. he said oh ok well I'll take that. Ummm no! That's not how this works! Screw you! Was stranded on the road with my young daughter on a Sunday near this location so I stopped to visit their mechanic. The Pep Boys across the street was not able to help but they did give me the service codes on my vehicle. I provided those codes to the mechanics at NTB and they insisted my spark plugs and cyclinder coils We're bad because I was getting a misfire in cylinder four and five. Instead of doing just two, I asked if all six could be done and they said yes. They gave me a quote of over $400 for the job. I thought that was a fair price so I agreed. They replaced two plugs and cyclinder coils, but yet the car was still not operable. He told me I needed to change out all six. I was confused because I thought that's what they originally were doing. They came back with another quote of an additional $540 which totals well over $900 to get spark plugs and cylinder coils replaced. Something I could've done at home if given a chance. I was shocked and extremely frustrated so they told me to walk next door and purchase the parts from AutoZone myself and then come back and wheel and deal a labor charge with the mechanic in the back. This felt very sketchy. Knowing that I was stranded, and my daughter was with me, I went ahead and made that commitment. After changing out all six plugs and coils, that was still not the issue. So at this time I am $600 into a repair which didn't even address the issue. The mechanic was confused, and ended up taking my vehicle next-door to AutoZone to use their code reader (NTB didn't have one) which indicated that the repair needed was a bad solenoid valve. This was a $150 part that I could've installed within the AutoZone parking lot myself. This $800 day royally sucked and will never use NTB again. Thank you AutoZone for all the help!! read more

My truck was running very poorly after an "oil change" at National tire and battery (NTB) yesterday so I looked to make sure they did not add too much oil. The oil on the dipstick seemed dirty so today I drained it. After 4 miles of driving, it was filthy. I had even went and bought a brand new oil drain container to be sure there was no contamination. I poured some of the oil that was in the truck and new Mobil 1 synthetic in two different bottles to compare. It seems that rather than change the oil, they just added more. All the while trying to sell additional services that Infiniti never mentioned in last service. Now, I am checking our other cars.... read more

Terrible customer service with manager at Roanoke location. Set up an appointment for a 8:30 am oil change-tire rotation and after almost 2 hours truck is pulled out minus tire rotation. I questioned as to why rotation was not completed and was told they did not have correct tools to complete even though other locations had completed before no issues. I was then charged full price and questioned why so much since no tire rotation and was told I was getting it free as part of my oil change package. This guy had ZERO concern about my 2 hour wait or taking care of the customer. I was informed by another customer earlier he was having issues as well. The overall condition and cleanliness of this store should have been a clue to move on. Update! I now need to steam clean the engine due to what appears to be spilled oil and a bad smell of oil burning. read more

Went and had our brakes checked because they had started making a slight grinding noise. We were told there were no issues and that if they did anything they would just be charging us to make the brakes quieter. We even called back to confirm this before pickup, and was assured that was the case, and they didn't recommend doing anything. Fast forward a few weeks and we get hit with over $1,600 in bills due to the brakes being driven on while in bad shape. I do not believe they even checked. Horrible service from an associate that could care less about you or your time. They lie about cars in line ahead of you even though they say its first come first serve for inspections. If you're not willing to leave your car with them all day then don't waste your time cause once you're finished you will then have to fight through the sales pitches and all the things that you need "really" need to get taken care ASAP! Go anywhere else!! Continuation: on my way home from work I stopped at another inspection location and was out the door in under 10 min. After discovering a metal piece in my tire and going to discount tire just to be told they couldn't fix it and didn't have my tire in stock and it would be 4 hours to put my spare on for me, I drove down the road and this store was outstanding. Genuinely DO NOT go here. The manager is polite but his workers are definitely not. The gentleman with the goatee facial hair that works upfront should 100% not work with customers of any sort. This man continuously interrupted us while we were speaking to him before dropping off my truck for an alignment. Then called us 45 minutes later to tell us a part that had nothing to do with an alignment was "too loose" for them to align my truck correctly. So, our "best option" was to spend double almost triple the amount we were told at the beginning for a $13 part that we have at our home shop. Again, this part had nothing to do with aligning my truck. Following telling us all of this information we said to just take it off the rack. There's no way you're going to tell us that our total cost is going to be $138 then come back and say we NEED to spend almost $400 for a $13 part and tax and rudely speak to us and hang up mid conversation. They didn't even straighten my steering wheel back. That man has only been working there for a month and is condescending towards his manager. Highly recommend not going here. I"m going to start by saying: I CANT remember the last time I gave ONE star..... But this place is SHADY!!!!! I came in for an alignment because I was about to go on a road trip and i wanted to have my car in good condition before hitting the road, I didnt want to be left stranded in the middle of nowhere. About an hour later I get a call from NTB letting me know there were a couple of other things that needed to be fixed... heres the list: $654.96 worth of parts and labor: Rear Suspendion Strut TBC EPIC Tour Tire disposal Strut R&R Tire installation and some other stuff that i have no clue what they are. I was concerned because of my road trip so i asked if it was completely necessary to fix them today, as I didnt have TIME or MONEY., they told me it didnt have to be fixed today.. but for sure in the next 1000 miles. So after hearing that. i decided to take my road trip anyway, I went to Amarillo and I was going to fix my car when i got back... I got really scared in Amarillo and decided Maybe i should fix this before heading back to Fort Worth. So i took it in to a local mechanic in Amarillo (a friend of friend type of place) and they tell me theres NOTHING wrong with my car. Even my tired were fine. WTF::: I was so upset, IS it because i'm a girl and you assume that i dont know anything about cars??? IF SO, NOT COOL. and YES i know NOTHING about cars, bur from now On i will get 2nd opinions. and that's exactly what i did.. when i got back home, i had my brother reccomend a place in Denton and I took my car in for a 3RD opinion and same thing... THERES NOTHING wrong with your car. 4 months later, and almost 10,000 miles (took another road trip to california) My car is doing just fine. Nothing wrong with her. I've only had to do a couple of oil changes here and there. I WILL NEVER go to NTB again. Not Even for tires. The Only good thing that happened from this was: I had my daughter with me through the whole process and i was able to teach her a lesson... IF you dont know what theyre talking about.. I would give them zero stars, or a half star, were that possible. Sadly, it isn't. They were very nice when I took my car in, of course; the app was easy to use to schedule an appointment the same day. I know now that they were nice because they were ripping me off. I took my car there because I needed new tires to pass state inspection (oh, I suppose that safe driving was another motivation), and they had the tires I wanted at a decent price. The manager, Martin F. Delgado, checked me in and went over options with me. He said they were "running a special" offering four tires for the price of two, if you got the "value installation package". We ran the numbers both ways, and it appeared that the "special" was indeed the better deal. The other offer was for $100 off the price of the tires if I bought four. In retrospect, I should have taken that $100 discount. I made note as I stood there of the sign listing labor as "$105/h". They took my car back to the bay at 2:55pm, and we're done with it (including replacing the front brake rotors and all the brake pads, which is no idea were in need of replacing- the guys who inspected it said nothing, so I suspect that, too, was a scam) by 4:10. The labor cost for one hour and twenty minutes of one man's labor (they swore that the same one guy did it all)? $364.53. They also charged me $31.96 for "new tpms repair kit". Mind you, I didn't know what that meant and didn't question it; I didn't know how to read the invoice. My partner went over with me later that night. So, that repair kit? It's a tire pressure monitoring system, which my bare-bones 2005 Ford Focus does NOT have. They simply added shit on, knowing I'd have no idea what it was. Additionally, they charged me both for "one-time balance" and "lifetime balancing" of the tires. Martin specifically told me that I would have to pay for either a one-time balancing or a lifetime, but not both. This would apply also to the alignment. They did only charge me for the one-year alignment, but ripped me off on the balancing. (According to Car and Driver Magazine, balancing itself is a rip-off.) I called that night to get a refund. They would only take off the tpms, and even then wouldn't credit it over the phone. I talked to the same gal who rang me up that afternoon. She was very condescending and dismissive, flat out rude. We went in today to get that refund. Same gal dealt with us as on the phone; she was the same, and passed off responsibility, claiming only a manager could grant the refund, and there wasn't one in. I went to the NTB in Roanoke Tx to fix a flat/nail. After a hour of waiting. They said it was to close to the side to fix and it would be $200.00 for a new tire. The other 3 where low tread and need to be replace soon. I didn't have the money so I drove across the street to Walmart and purchased a flat repair kit for $6.00. Pulled the nail out. Shove the little wormy piece in the hole. That was over a year ago. The tire that I repaired for $6.00 hasn't lost 1 psi. The reason I posting this today... I went to Discount Tire store to see about purchasing new tires. Ten minutes after I gave them my keys. They told me my tires are still good and it would be $125.00 to replace each tire when that time comes. NTB IS A RIP-OFF!! They wanted to charge me almost $1000.00 to replace my tires when they where still good!!! They will rip you off. If you do go there and they want to do more work than why you brought your car in for. Get a second opinion. read more

They said they couldn't perform a wheel alignment because my vehicle had some custom locks preventing the wheels from being adjusted and only the dealer could do it. I went to another NTB and told them this they said they had no idea what the other center were talking about and they realigned my wheels in a few minutes. read more

Don't trust them. I was given a price for filters during an oil change, one air filter for the engine and one for a cabin filter. They gave me the filter prices, which I approved, but failed to tell me about the $52 installation fee. They already had the old filter out to show me it needed to be replaced but still charged the $52 to put a new one back in. Never going back! Total rip off. read more
