Choosing the right home builder is the number one decision in how your home is built and how you feel in your new home. But a word of caution, don't just look at the builder, look at the superintendent that is going to overlook your job. Make sure he/she is someone who will be on site for the entire job, pay close attention to detail, listen to your concerns as the home is being built and not pout when you as the customer question or point out inferior work being performed. These qualities will be the determinate in the end. Our experience with NuWavz was a nightmare to say the least. Prior to completion, the lack of attention to detail was deplorable. When the house was about two-thirds of the way complete, the superintendent just stopped showing up-he did not like the fact that we were out there every day making sure things were happening correctly because so much had gone wrong thus far. Come to find out, it was a good thing we were, the driveway, the septic and the air conditioners would have been put in the wrong place. Those subcontractors all had access to the old plans. When one of the subcontractors called to question the placement, he was told by the superintendent that he was no longer on that job and to ask the homeowner! Upon moving into our home, we had many concerns, however the biggest was the soft grout in our floor, which is throughout the home. We had heard a list of excuses a mile long of why or who, but all we wanted was it to be taken care of-- immediately. Needless to say, after continually bringing this to NuWavz attention, they finally agreed to take care of it. We were told we need to move out to have the grout replaced throughout and 70+ tiles replaced as well. Our new customer service rep told me he would be 'crawling around on his knees to make sure the floor was right'-this was not the case. I was the one who had to continually point out the areas of concern causing the laborers to come back multiple times to get it right. Once again this lack of attention to detail from the initial superintendent and CR rep cost NuWavz $15,000 for moving costs and room and board for us, not including their labor and supplies for a month of work. Good business? We have moved back in, the dryer is dented and I was told that because I did not have the movers move it out, it is my problem. Did any of this have to happen? No, if NuWavz just would have listened and taken action when it was discovered prior to us moving in the first time. Is it fixed? Except for the grout around the toilet, Yes, and it looks beautiful. Just be cautious when selecting a home builder. Interview their subcontractors to see how long they have been working for the builder and if they feel the builder has the integrity to get the job done. We learned a lot by being on the job, talking to those who were working and we enjoyed providing lunch to the laborers, as a way of thanking those who did a great job. Of course there are still items that need to be taken care of in the home. After this review, it will most likely be even more difficult to get the work done. Recently I had these guys build a custom entertainment center into a "nook" or "cubby" (not sure what the correct term for it is) area that was already built into my living room when I moved in. We had an old (but awesome) entertainment center already and we just put it in front of the open space on the wall. It really didn't look great, but it was paid for right? We finally got tired of it and wanted a custom builder to make something that would match the opening. I am very impressed with the quality work that Nu Wavz Homes did. They even matched my old style furniture (which both my wife and I loved) so that was a bonus. Everything is built in and looks great. It saves a lot of room too. Nu Wavz Homes are custom home builders here in Arizona by trade, but as we found out, they do great custom work too for side home remodel projects like this. They also converted a wine rack into a plate rack for us (We don't drink wine so it was useless to us) but now my wife LOVES her new plate rack to display all her grandmas old china that was given to us when she passed. We love our New casita which we have been in for a year now. Dan and his staff designed and built an outstanding home which serves my our needs. My wife is handicapped so the wide doors, low thresholds, roll in shower, low vanity etc. and other features are something we needed. The high ceilings and other features make our smaller casita feel so much larger. Dan with Nu Wavz and his crew did an outstanding job in my house. Nu Wavz is known for building custom homes but they helped me out with some smaller projects at my home (Back splash, doggie door installation and painting). Normally these are things i would do myself but with as busy as things were i decided to have a professional do it and i am glad i did! The crew was in and out, cleaned up after themselves and the work is beautiful. On top of all that the price was very fair, i get three bids for any work i get done. My parents have had some work done at one of their houses as well and were blown away by the work i recommend this company to anyone looking for a custom home build or projects around the house! read more

Never again. In order to get my custom home finished right I have now had to file a formal complaint with the register of contractors to get them to even think about coming back out to finish the sloppy work they have done. Do yourself a favor and don't even call them, you will thank me. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL. Called me 15 minutes before appointment time to tell me contractor was cancelling appointment for estimate and "passing" on the job before even looking at the project. A call 24 hours in advance is common courtesy. I found this to be extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate for my time. I took time off wok for this appointment. All I got was a lukewarm 'sorry." I had booked this at least a week in advance and they had plenty of time to cancel. A cancellation call 15 minutes before scheduled time is unacceptable. Blessing in disguise as I would not want to give my money to a business that operates in such a manner with disrespect to potential customers. read more

We signed a contract with Nu Wavz homes on May 1, 2018 to build a custom home. And moved into our house on July 27, 2019. There were several delays in the process starting at the very beginning of the design phase. Every time there was a push in the schedule there was very little if any communication from them for the slip. We were supposed to be in our new home in March/April as we already had a floor plan layout concept so the design phase that usually takes 6 month should have only take a couple. But because of the delays of the design and then Nu Wavz not filing for the septic permit this caused more delays in the permit process. This is only the start of our problems with this company. The next big hurtle was that Nu Wavz sent the truss company an old design which caused a delay again as the roof line needed to be altered and some more trusses to be ordered. This shows the lack of quality control and paying attention to detail in the process. But this is not the end of the story. The next big hurtle was when I had to point out to them that the back porch was poured 2 feet too long which would cause issues with the current trusses as the porch was covered. After arguing with them and the framer for 30 minutes I finally convinced them that all of the trusses would have to be remade or they needed to rip out the concrete and start over. Well they decided to rip out the concrete and start over which caused the next issue. Yes yet again another issue. The new footings that were poured were not according to the engineering drawings. they were never re inspected as they should have been. I asked Dan who had inspected them before the new concrete was poured and if the old footings were removed. He responded that he personally verified they were correct and the old footings were removed. This was a bold face lie. I then dug out around the new footings to find that they were 1/3 the size they were supposed to be. This then caused another delay as I had to hire a structural engineer to tell them how to fix them correctly as what they were going to just do a back fill and not do it right. I had to fight with them for 2 months to get this fixed. then there was an issue with window install as they did not have a trained professional install the windows. So they were not plumb or square. It is like they were building a house for the first time. Again I had to point out that they were not installed correctly and again another delay and fight. I had to contact the window company to come out and we all agreed that all the windows needed to come out and get put back in. Did Nu Wavz do that? Nope they had their framer do what ever they wanted and hammered them around to get them close. In this process they cracked 3 of the frames. Again causing another fight and delay to have new ones ordered as they did not want to replace them. This story is never ending like this all the way down to paint still on door hinges and door strikes that were never cut in the right location because they did not use pre hung doors and they just putty them up to try and fix them. All the way to the cabinet installer doing a hack job installing them. Even though I was on site every day and trying to get them to do the job correctly they ignored me through the whole process as I was being too picky. There were even a couple times they were yelling at me. This is no way to treat a customer. And even though I am in my house now there are still several things they did not do on the punch list before we moved in and there are more I am finding every day. Do yourself a favor and walk away and don't even consider using them as I am still fighting for my house to be done right let alone get finished. It has been 5 weeks since we moved in and our 10K entertainment center is going on its 3rd set of shelves because the cabinet guy cant read a tape measure. And no communication as to when it will ever be done right if ever. For workmanship I give 1 star For project on time give 1 star For communication give 1 star For their electrician I give 5 star For being honest I give 1 star RUN DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! We have had Dan with NuWavz Homes do three projects for us now. The first was when we bought a repossessed home, and he went through it and made it look like a totally new home. We loved everything he did. So when we bought another lot and wanted an rv garage/mother-in-law apartment built there, he was the one we called. Again, excellent quality work. All his employees and subcontractors were very professional and did a great job. They even cleaned up after themselves! So, last year while we were gone and our neighbor called us to tell us there was water pouring out our back door, who do you think we called to rip out & replace sheet rock, flooring, doors, cabinetry, etc? We knew he would do a great job and that we could trust him to take care of everything that needed doing in our absence. He more than met our expectations--everything looked great when we returned.
