Well folks, we're back. It's been a minute since I've been compelled to write a review from the table but here we are again. We just moved to the Camas area today. Tired, exhausted, we chose the safe option... you can't go wrong with the local Mexican restaurant, amirite? WRONG! Ambiance is cute... they could afford to dust the very visible spiderwebs from the ceiling but the vibe was attempted. Don't twist your ankle on the crayons in the floor or the food you crunch on as you walk through the bar. Fortunately, the drink was good (the ONLY positive aspect of the entire experience). We decided to split fajitas because... it's the safe option, amirite? WRONG. The server (not ours) brought this poor tiny tray of food. Threw it in front of us and asked if there was anything else we needed while he walked away (never even waited for an answer). Yeah bud, we need #1 the rest of our meal #2 PLATES, #3 a fresh hot meal not the crusty cold microwaved crap you just threw in our faces. Could he make it worse? Yes, yes he did. He then verbally acknowledged the fajitas were cold and said "they usually come hot and fresh but they forgot your order". After a solid 10 minute wait, we finally flagged down our server. We explained the food was cold and that we were even told it was cold. We asked for a warm meal. After anotheer 15 minute she returned with a bowl of microwaved beans and a bowl of microwaved rice to mix with our cold meat to make it warm. WHAT? When that hit the table, we asked for our check immediately to which she replies that she hopes everything was really good and we enjoyed our meal? WHAT? We're leaving without finishing it, it's awful. NO chance we'll be back or recommend this place. There are so many better options, this place was overall terrible. read more

Met family here for lunch on a Sunday at noon. Made reservations online through the Open Table app. There were 7 in our party. Table was ready and waiting when we arrived for our reservation. Our server was welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. The food and drinks were fresh and delicious! Portions are plentiful. Many in our group took food home. We started with the chips, salsa and guacamole. The chips are made in-house and are so good! Very crispy and fresh. The guacamole and salsa were devoured by all. We loved that the salsa had tons of flavor without the heat. We would definitely order that again. Our table ended up ordering taco salads, both chicken and carne asada, fajita burrito, tacos, corn chowder and Mesa bowl. Everyone enjoyed their food, not one complaint. Everyone commented on how fresh the food tasted. We were so full after our food, we didn't have room to try any of their desserts. Next time! Parking can be challenging in downtown Camas as there is only street parking available. Overall a wonderful first visit. Service was great and food was delicious. We'll definitely be back. Ordered two salads, one with beets and lettuce ( with all the stems left on every piece of lettuce POOR PREP) I ordered a salad ( again too many stems) with very well prepared shrimp. Not having the lettuce prepared properly in my estimation left me sorry that I came in. The waitress was overwhelmed, way too many tables for her to handle plus do all the seating. High ceiling, so we couldn't carry on a conversation, when the room was crowded! Beautifully decorated, but just wasn't impressed with the quality or waiting 10 minutes + to pay, in fact two more minutes and I've have walked. What could you improve, wait help! 2-stars = "eh, I've had better" The Hubs & I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Surprisingly, our food came out really fast, despite how busy they were. We each had the Pick-2. I had a chicken enchilada verde & pork carnitas taquitos. He had a chicken enchilada roja & pork carnitas chimichanga. Both came with rice & beans, which were good. His chicken enchilada roja came covered in the roja sauce, as it should. My chicken enchilada verde had barely a tablespoon of verde sauce, and it definitely needed more. We both agreed the chicken in our chicken enchiladas was quite bland & needed some seasoning, or in my case, at least more sauce to enhance the flavor. We both also agreed their pork carnitas meat was delicious, and he really enjoyed the chimichanga. The taquitos, however, didn't come with anything to dip them in or add another layer of flavor. Anywhere else I've had taquitos they would come with salsa or pico, or maybe a little bit of guac to eat with it, but these were just the 2 fried taquitos, so while flavorful, it was dry without anything else to have with them. I ended up scraping off the tiny bit of sour cream & few small slices of avocado that come on top of the enchilada to eat with the taquitos so it wasn't so dry, but that really wasn't enough. I would have asked for a little cup of salsa or pico, but they were very busy & and we never saw our server again until she brought the check. For the service, I felt sorry for our server, as she was working her butt off. She was wonderful for the brief time we saw her, but as far as we could tell there was just 1 server working & they were very busy at lunch. Someone else (the manager or owner, I'm guessing) was bringing the food to the tables. Our water glasses were never refilled, despite being nearly empty. It took a long time to get the check, as we sat there for at least 10 minutes with completely empty plates before the check came. The interior decor is interesting & beautiful. My only complaint about the design is to get to the restroom you have to walk down a narrow shared hallway with the kitchen & cleanup area, so you may be dodging staff zipping by or waiting to get through. They have plenty of seating inside, with both high tops and regular tables, along with larger table options for big groups. They gave a small sidewalk patio out front with some tables as well. read more

Our dinner was seriously amazing!! I cannot believe that we have never gone here in their 14 years of being in Camas. We shared the pork tinga nachos and some cheese & onion enchiladas- Christmas style. This was seriously some of THE best Mexican food we've ever had here in the Pacific NW. They absolutely nailed everything- the ambiance, decor, friendly service, cleanliness and especially the food. Everything on our plates were full of flavor with just the right amount of spiciness. I do like a bit more spice than usual, so they graciously gave me bottle of Cholula so that I could sprinkle on top as well. We typically compare restaurants guacamole to my own and always say that it's never as good as mine. But this guac finally was! They also nailed the flavor of the enchiladas, their pork tinga, red rojo & green verde sauces, pinto beans, rice, crema, pico de gallo and amount of cheesiness. Their homemade chips were absolutely wonderful- probably the best we've ever had! And the plates came out super hot and beautiful! I've heard the owners also have a taco truck somewhere that we need to try, and they own Nostra Tavola (although Mesa is not as expensive.) And one of the owners is from Argentina which explains the undeniably rich flavors of their food. Wish they had a location in downtown Couve as well, but I'll definitely settle on driving out to Camas. I'll be dreaming about this food experience from now on. read more

The service could be more attentive the wait for our order to be taken was pretty long and then waiting for the check took a while as well. The inside was nice and cozy but the singular tables were tiny and smashed into the wall so it was a bit uncomfortable for the seating. The best mexican restaurant in SW WASHINGTON. Higher end price point with a great happy hour. This is not your typical Mexican-American Restaurant, chips are made fresh daily. Salsa and guacamole. I came in tonight to eat and even though there were many open tables was told I couldn't be seated for 1/2 an hour. If it is your new policy to turn customers away it's not very smart. I am single and eat alone often and should not be punished for not having others dining with me. I also ordered 2 tacos, shrimp & carne asada. Both were very small, I didn't care for the homemade corn tortillas. They don't have another option for the tortillas. Wow, was this delicious! The place was packed for an early dinner on a Wednesday, so that tells you something. I had a spicy mango margarita and a pollo burrito bowl. I wouldn't have called the margarita spicy, but I sure appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. The bowl was excellent. Although the ingredients were exactly what you'd expect, the quality was very good, and each element was individually seasoned, so you didn't have to grab a bit of everything for the perfect bite. It was all delicious. Their salsa is a bit smoky with a nice kind clean and plenty of garlic. Staff stays very busy in this bustling spot, but they take care of each customer. Fair warning, this is a family-friendly spot with nice cocktails, so there will likely be plenty of little ones running between tight spaces, but it's all in good fun. read more

I ordered the Mesa chicken burrito and it was good for the first few bites, but then it got dry. I should've asked for extra sauce on the side but got caught up with the NACHOS. I had to get a box for the burrito because I was hard munching on the nachos. I'd rate the burrito a 5/10 but for the nachos?!! Imma do a 8/10. Let me talk about the nachos now. So the chips are toasted to a crrrrisspp. It's amazing and the toppings makes it 1000 times better. They be slathering it with some charro bearra, white onions, red salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole, crèma and cilantro. Gluten free too so ayyy. Would go again just for the nachos! read more

This is a Nuestra-missa for me. I've had this bookmarked for years now. Something always stopped me from trying - but after a recommendation, I finally decided to stop in. They seem short staffed which is never a negative because I TOTALLY understand the pandemic shortage; even in my line of work. Sat in the bar - which always means longer wait times for ordering. No biggie. It's a cute vibe and I dig the decor. The two star is for the drinks / which were good and strong! The waitress in the bar was nice / just had a lot going on; poor thing! This was... a glorified Chipotle. If I'm being straightforward and honest. It all sounded amazing in theory. A very PNW take on Mexican cuisine. We ordered Cadillac Margaritas + Chips and Guacamole + the Mesa Bowl + 3 assorted tacos. The Mesa Bowl was something straight off of the Chipotle menu. I won't sugar coat it for you. It was a fancy chipotle meal with no love or flavor. The salsa, guacamole, and tacos were extremely extremely bland. This was a very bland and unauthentic take on Mexican cuisine. Also... the drink called "Border Dispute"... seems in poor taste... like, really? I am half Hispanic & just my personal opinion... seems extremely inappropriate and quite frankly - racist. read more

I so wanted to like this place ordered 2 carnitas tacos and the first bite was fat, it was truly gross.

If I could give half stars I would give Mesa a 3.5. It's typically a 4 star experience with the occasional 3 star thrown in. Last week was average. Staff is always friendly, but margarita quality wasn't where it typically is and the pastor tacos weren't hot. Guacamole and salsa was very good. This food is Fire. We drive 20mins each way for this. It's all good. The beet salad is a great starter. The shrimp fajitas are on top. Homemade tortillas bring it to a great place. The black beans are excellent. We've now been there maybe 10 times and we will keep going. It's a great spot before or after a movie at Liberty Theater across the street. Usually my go-to Camas spot for interesting Mexican food and artisan drinks, but my most recent food experience was lacking. Very disappointed, under (meaning no) salted and no real flavor. Ordered the chowder, a usual favorite and one taco to start. Soup was basically just a bowl of boiled cream with little trace of any additional ingredients. Perhaps just a bad bowl, but again no flavor in sight. Steak taco was bland, but I tired to spice it up, which helped a bit (great hot sauce, totally house-made). Ordered a different taco (pork with pineapple) to see if things would improve and same story on flavor. Very disappointed as I've been to this place more times than I can count and have had great food here. What's going on? The real issue here is consistency, though subjective, this is not the first time their food has been off. I know they are capable of great things and I hope that this review is helpful feedback for Mesa. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great, a real local gem. When asked about the food, specifically if I'd like a to-go for the soup (hardly touched) the staff graciously accepted my comments and took it off the bill, a nice and class-move. Tipped on the full bill as I understand that the everyone just has an off food day and nobody likes difficult customers, :) Will return soon and give them another chance. Very cute spot in Camas. They have outside dining on the street, which is a beautiful setting on a sunny day! We stopped in for a quick bite only, no drinks or dinner. But I can highly recommend the ceviche appetizer, it was delicious. Good tangy flavor from the lime, tons of rockflish, good spice but not too much for a wimpy palate like my own. Served with fresh tortilla chips, the kind that are thicker than store bought and coated with a good amount of salt for flavor. Our adult children joined us for lunch at Nuestra Mesa yesterday and there were six of us in our group. We were seated immediately and our drink and appetizer order was taken then. Our server brought out our chips and salsa appetizer right away. We added guacamole to the order and it was very tasty. Their salsa is made with fire roasted vegetables and was not overly hot.. We ordered the taco plate which comes with two tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were good but not as spicy as we expected from the description on the menu. But the food was still good, well presented on the plates, and we all enjoyed what we ordered. However next time I would ask for more spiciness. The decor, ambience, and the service we received made for a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely go back to try other items on their menu. read more

Started w Queso Fundido soft and crispy cheese, top w yummers salsa for the perf bite. You almost didn't need the tortilla chips which were also on point. Sipped on cucumber, mint margarita w nice amount of sweet, hint of heat but also refreshing. There's also a vodka drink option w Tito's and blackberry that was delish. The waiter knew his business and recommended the Pork Tinga Burrito be fried like a Chimichanga and went fir it. Life changing! Wow this place was hopping on a Friday night, though it really seemed to slow down about a half hour after we got there. While we were sat right away, it did take some time for someone to come take our orders (to be fair, that was fine with us, we were busy catching up and chatting and had hardly looked at the menu yet). One thing I'll note was that the table as well as the window ledge next to us were not very clean, quite sticky. Anywho, we ordered the queso fundido, and extra chips, salsa and guacamole. Then I ordered a trio of tacos - pollo, carne asada and carnitas. My husband ordered the bowl with chicken. It looked amazing and normally that's what I would order but I wanted tacos. They are a bit small and only with one tortilla each so be gentle on handling, since they filled them very full! The carne asada was my least favorite, wasn't much flavor in the meat. The carnitas was probably the best of the three. Presentation was good. Fundido was great, well baked! The guac was quite good as well. I noticed they had a small patio but when I asked to sit outside they said no due to staffing issues. I said I'm ok with slow service but she looked me a said the patio is closed so I can't eat here today. This is our favorite date night place to go in camas! Why? We have been here countless times and the food is consistently good. Sometimes a bit under season on meats and chips, but adding a pinch of salt at the beginning of the meal isn't a deal breaker. They have unbelievable tortillas here. Using three sisters masa is a big step in wanting to give the customer the best possible experience. IYKYK If you come here and complain about the food being expensive, stop and just save yourself the trouble and eat at taco bell! Everything is more expensive nowadays. EVERYTHING! High end retail restaurants are looking at all time high rents and costs, especially in a town like Camas. Labor isn't cheap either! Splurge on a good plate of and try something new. Get a few margaritas and some poblano chowder and queso fundido with chorizo and plate of carne en sugo or conchinita pibil and taste something other than quesadillas and nachos .
