I cannot believe I haven't written a review for Nuggets and Carats! My family has been long time customers of N&C since around 1993 and possibly before (my mom married my stepdad in '93 so that's when I have become familiar with them). I used to be a milspouse and while we lived in CO l had a horrific experience with a jewelry repair. All I needed was a watch battery replaced but two jewelry stores stripped the screws on the back of the watch! The one jewelry store kept telling me week after week that the screws needed this lubricant to help them unscrew. After 4+ weeks of this nonsense l finally told them to give me the watch back, we were done. I found that they were unable to get any screws out because all 4 were still in when l received it back (a lie from them saying they were waiting on the last 1-2 to unlock). I ended up visiting my family in CA and Brian and his wonderful jewelers not only had it fixed in less than a week, they also gave it a thorough look over and put in new screws that work better than the originals that came with it. I also had an antique platinum setting that l bought to use as my wedding ring except the middle diamond in the original setting was really small. I had a larger one to have set into it and there is NO ONE else l would trust with that! They did a beautiful job and you'd never know it wasn't original to the ring. It looks like it was meant to be that way. A secretary at my kiddos' school was telling me about her ring that so many jewelers couldn't fix. I recommended her to this shop. Although she went to their Mission Viejo location instead, she said she was thrilled that they were finally able to fix her ring when so many others said it couldn't be done. Currently, my late dad's Rolex is being checked by their watch person. My mom and stepdad have both gone through their watch person as well and have had no complaints. I think the best thing is the relief l feel when dropping my jewelry off here. I know that it will be in the best care and get the fix it needs. Brian stands by his work and l can say that from an issue (that would have happened when repairing it anywhere) that happened and Brian has more than made it right in the very rare situation that has happened. Brian's expertise and integrity is unmatched. I trust him implicitly and only come here for any repairs l need done. They are kind, professional, and knowledgeable. read more

Looking for new local jeweler, so started with something simple: a couple of easy jewelry repairs. Did they do the job? Yep. Jewelry is fixed and happy to wear the pieces again. But beyond that.... We interacted with 2 employees. Each was fine, but not welcoming or even very engaging. All of the positive reviews are legit and Brian is awesome. And there was also a woman who helped me and I didn't catch her name, but she was so nice helpful too. I went in to have my earrings repaired and was offered a ring cleaning. It was brought to my attention that some stones were loose in one of my rings, caught that in the nick of time they were close to falling out. They cleaned my rings, repaired my earrings, and fixed the loose stones in my wedding band, and didn't charge me anything. It felt amazing to be taken care of, and not nicked and dimmed. Liliam (sorry, if I don't spell your name right. ) was is truly a sweetheart! Last year, I couldn't find any jewelry shop that would adjust my Rado watch, finally my friend told me about this shop. I asked Liliam if she could help me adjust my watch, she did it right sweat and didn't even charge me. Now one of my watch battery died and I knew right away where to take it. I went in to have my husbands ring sized for my finger as he recently passed away. The people there were simply amazing. Knowing I didn't want to be without it, they rushed the sizing for me, handed me Kleenex when I cried and gave me a hug when I left. I was highly impressed, and I'm going to give up my jeweler in Tustin. Sam bought some old broken gold jewelry of mine and gave me a great price, right on the spot. Then he repaired my grandmother's cameo from the 1800s and sold me a chain to wear with it. It was originally a pin, so he made the necessary hardware to utilize it as a necklace. Great customer service. I did not go here to buy anything. After I went to Disney Aulani's pools, my Tiffany's Sterling silver bracelet looked ugly and grayish from the strong chlorine in the pools. I asked another jewelry store how much it would cost to clean a bracelet and they quoted me $20!! Tiffany's used to charge $8 (too far for me to go now). I called Nuggets and the nice man on the phone said either no charge or $5 depending. I took it in and after 5 min wait, they cleaned my bracelet for free! Decided to stop in to check out this store because of Yelp reviews and the recommendations of a few friends. Lilliana helped me and my girlfriend at the time find a setting for an engagement ring. I came back the next day to further research the different rings and stones. Brian was able to order several stones that worked for the setting. After those came in, Danny educated me on the grading scale of diamonds and I was able to make my final decision on the stones that were delivered. After deciding my right hand was jealous of my left hand since it had no bling I went looking for a local jeweler to create a beautiful piece. After much hemming and hawing I chose Blue Zircon as my center stone because I love blue! Well Brian and his team searched all over for the best of best blue they could find and located a huge gorgeous stone for me. I wanted new companion rings to go with my wedding ring, but my guy is way up in the Valley and I wanted to find someone local. So, I asked around and finally bit the bullet on Nuggets & Carats, which was a recommendation from my trusted friend Jennifer S. Needless to say, leaving your ring, trusting you'll get quality diamonds back and not get ripped off is a big concern. Jewelers are kind of like mechanics, you want to find one you can trust. I went in and talked to Brian, the owner. He was super nice and very helpful, and told me he's been in business for 22 years. We went through designs together and he made recommendations, even drawing some things out for me. When we decided on a style, I thought I might want the diamonds to be a tad bigger, but he talked me out of it. Seriously. He said it wouldn't look as good. It was at that time I thought this guy must be OK if he had a chance to up-sell and didn't. Also, while I was there two long-term customers came in and handed him over quite a bit of money for their jewelry and said they'd be back again. It was all very family-like. I handed over the ring, got my receipt and he told me it'd be 7-10 days for my new rings to be done. On day 10, I called and they said it would be five more days. This was the only downside. But, lo and behold, they called on day four and said it was done. It turned out beautifully. He was absolutely right about the size of the diamonds. Now that I know they look good together, I'm going to return and get them soldered together. I feel very confident in the job they did and the customer service was very good, despite the few extra days it took. I will definitely be going back. read more
