I went to Dana Point Jewelers after reading the wonderful reviews here on Yelp. I wanted to purchase a diamond necklace and ring and have batteries replaced in two watches. I was impressed by Garen's knowledge of jewelry and purchased a diamond ring and necklace on May 18, 2023. He asked me to give him a few weeks, so I was hoping to have my beautiful new diamonds by early June. The items were finally ready on June 29, 2023. While the quality was excellent, I am posting this review so consumers know that the wait times can be rather long. If you are o.k. with six to eight weeks (I paid cash up front), he does very nice work. I would be careful if you're expecting this on an exact day, I.e. Christmas, birthday or other specific special day. Each time I called for an update, I was told two or three days more. As the saying goes, "buyer beware!" Shine bright and good luck! read more

I recently moved to the area and was in need of a jeweler - the one I had used prior was in SD and I wanted to find one closer to where I lived. I found Garen through Yelp - it looked like the best option in the area, with lots of reviews and good feedback. I had a few rings that I needed to be resized, and of all the places that I had called around, Garen was the only one who said turn around time is same or next day. Many other places I called said I had to drop it off and pick it up after 3-4 days. I brought in my rings and Garen gave me a very fair quote. One of the rings required extensive sizing down, so I was a bit nervous as I know that's a tough job for even a very skilled jeweler, and I was blown away by the results! Stay away! He will rip you off!!! We gave him a pendant to just put a loop and he tried to charge us $50!! On something that's worth $5!!! And then while confronting him he had mentioned our religion!!! As our pendant was Star of David!!! What a low person and what this has to do with him overcharging us. If you care about honesty and not prejudice stay away and do not give him any business! After we left he used a person to come after us and threaten us as he knew we will Yelp him. Will attach pictures. Please see the tiny loops which cost $5! And he said it took more than an hour to work on it. Regarding the response of the business owner, the following are the facts: The owner of the store wrote about himself in the history of the business that he has been in the jewelry business for 35 years. He was the one who examined the chain and said that the amount would be about $20 for the entire repair and not just for replacing one ring as he claimed in his response. Moreover, in previous reviews it turns out that he has performed this type of repair in the past for free. When I called the store and told him that I have experience in the field and that the amount he is demanding is very high and inappropriate for such a repair, he expressed himself as follows: You are calling about the "Jewish thing" - this is an unacceptable statement. He knows very well that it is a Star of David, and he would never say "the Christian thing" on a necklace with a cross that was given to him for repair. This statement is not a slur but a statement that indicates a prejudice not to say racist that was said out of disdain and intent to insult. He hung up on me when I pointed out that he was being insulting and racist in the way he was talking. A few minutes later I called the store again and again he hung up during the conversation. Later he sent a text to my husband - "let me know when you will be here". When we just arrived at the door of the store, right next to the entrance to the store, the person who attacked us verbally did push-ups in front of our eyes. A very awkward situation. The mention of Yom Kippur Eve in the business owner's response is also inappropriate and out of context since the holiday only started after sunset and we visited the store before the holiday. What was he trying to say by that?? I leave it to the readers to draw conclusions about the nature of the treatment and service we received. read more
