Came in on our lunch break and just as my previous experience, they did not disappoint! Definitely a hidden gem on 124th street, the owner who is so kind, friendly and even remembered a few of us who have been there before, will make your dining experience a special one. The Aracini balls had a crispy shell, with a creamy and flavourful risotto on the inside. We had a range of pasta dishes and I had the Arrosto Di Barbabietoli salad with chicken, and it was a large portion, with tons of well season chicken, beets and walnuts. Everyone else ordered the Wild Mushroom Gnocchi, the linguine and ravioli. Everyone felt their portions were great and all the pasta was rich and full of flavour! The owner even gave us a free tiramisu on the house for the table to share. Overall great experience, from the food to the service, 5/5, we will be returning.. and with friends!

Nuovo Bistro has definitely become my new favourite Italian place in the town. Their pastas are super delicious and already ordered twice in a week because i couldn't resist to try new ones on the menu. I have tried Tagliatelle Florentine, Rigatoni Con Salsiccia and Linguine Aglio e Olio. Be it the Crispiness of Ham and Snap peas in Linguine Aglio e Olio, rich creamy texture of Tagliatelle, or spicy sausages in Rigatoni Con Sasiccia. Their menu is reasonably priced with good portion size. I can't wait to try other items on the menu.

Omg. So good. Went back and forth on where to go in Edmonton. I've worked in a French/Italian Cucina so I'm picky. I'm happy with Nuovo Bistro! Pasta con gamberi was great! We also ordered risotto balls with mushroom sauce, very lovely. Kristin was such a wonderful help and sweet. Definitely try if in area. Grazie!

I honestly had no idea what to expect going into Nuovo. My GF's hair dresser recommended it and I'm up to try pretty much anything restaurant wise so here are. It's super cozy and tight with a completely open kitchen that every table in the place can see. The menu is full scale Italian with every possible classic available as well as a couple items that didn't exactly strike me as Italian but looked equally delicious! We started with buttermilk battered calamari and a classic Caprese salad. The squid were maybe the best I've ever had and I'm a calamari freak. Perfectly fired, not greasy whatsoever and tender. The clincher was this sweet and spicy tomato compote for dipping. Absolutely great! The salad was just meh for me although the little crunchy balls of balsamic vinegar (which I still don't know how they made) were a neat touch. So I mentioned not so Italian entrees and I decided to go for one. Bacon wrapped meatloaf on a bed of mashed potatoes and a port reduction sauce. Holy hell...what a marvellous treat! It was phenomenal...great meatloaf great mash great sauce. Rich beyond belief but I had fasted for the day in anticipation so whatever. My gf's dish was a little less than spectacular but she enjoyed it. A fresh tagliatelle with cherry tomatoes. She felt a little more sauce would have been nice but she still liked it. So we had to have dessert! She ordered the always classic tiramisu...probably the best I've had outside of Italy, and I decided to go with spaghetti with veal meatballs! Lol I couldn't get that option outta my head, probably should of had it before my meatloaf but at least our incredible waitress was impressed with my originality. The meatballs were perfect! I was too full to finish the pasta but it was delicious also. Our service was incredible seeing as our girl was the only girl for the entire restaurant but she was a dynamo! And finally maybe the best part of this place...10 dollar corkage!! Woo hoo! Thank god it was walking distance for us. One of the best Italian meals I've had without any of the pretentious blah's you sometimes see today. Just a classic feast in an amazing space. You will love it...so go already. Make sure you make a res tho, maybe 30 seats total. Cheers Andy

This is my favorite lunch place in the downtown vicinity. Parking is free and in plentiful around the area. Service is quick. They have sandwiches during lunch time but also their pasta menu. Today I tried the Caesar salad at lunch and it was absolutely amazing. Quite possibly the best in the city.

Wow I am impressed that Edmonton has really good Italian food! Mind you, I am only visiting and checking out the city eats along the way. I saw this restaurant when I was visiting the bakery across the street the other day. Now I finally returned to dine here and the food was amazing. The gnocchi was one of the best I have eaten in a long time. The mushroom sauce paired well with the pillowy soft potato dumplings. I really appreciate a restaurant using fresh pasta. The pricing was good for the portion size. I read in a previous review that the pasta is from the Italian Centre shop. I might make a trip there if I stay longer in Edmonton next time.

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. Overall food was excellent and I'll be back but to try something different on the menu.

Violino, in an old home, its staff, and the food exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly be making a reservation the next time we visit the Oilers hometown. Damn that was good! Ushered upstairs, didn't really get a chance to take it in, so will be sure to stop and look around next time. The complimentary bread was great, the martini's good although one glass had far more than the other. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and although quite different from what we make at home, was excellent! K had the Alfredo flambé which was fired up tableside. It seems to be a popular option as it happened 6 or 7 times while we dined. They also don't soak you for the privilege of the tableside presentation. It was a little cheesy for K, but excellent nonetheless. Our server Eugenia from Hamburg was excellent, she can serve us anytime. She was attentive, and her timing was exceptional! We plan on making a reservation the next time we are in Edmonton. Top notch experience!

Server was nice but never refilled our table water even after we moved it a couple times to be within her view of the table (my friend swears he saw her see us move it to the edge of the table too). Rialto Float cocktail was nice if you like Pisco. Royal Jamaican Ginger beer was good too. Olive Calde - large portion for price. Olives were fine. Calamari - 10/10 delicious, dips were great too. Gnocchi with pancetta - 10/10, surprising filling and even though the Gnocchi were huge chunks they were well cooked. Waitress recommend Campanella Aragosta - 7/10. If you like spicy it's fine but otherwise the flavor is actually very bland. Pasta itself was unique and well cooked. Large portion. Beef Brisket Agnolotti - 7/10, 8 large ravioli filled with brisket. Sauce was good, ravioli were well cooked but brisket inside was pretty underwhelming. Friend who got this dish was ++ hungry still after and said he would order something else next time for the price. Funghi Cipolla - 8/10, it was as expected. Ricotta cheesecake - cheesecake itself was great with the ricotta taste but crust was soooo bad. So overly thick and dry and considering our waitress failed to give us water the entire meal it was impossible to eat (so dry). Date cake - Unfortunately they didn't have gelato as was advertised on the menu to go with the cake so whipped cream was substituted. Was told this only after we ordered and friend asked for the flavors of gelato. Cake had a few uncooked flour lumps. Flavor was fine but not as flavorful/spice-heavy as I hoped.
