LeAnn, at Nuovo Salon at the Landings, is an excellent stylist. Many thanks to her for managing to squeeze me into her busy schedule before I had to return north for a few months. She's very professional when applying hair color, and then in the way she quickly cuts/styles the hair after that. During the shampoo, no one can beat LeAnn on head messages, which nearly put me to sleep! She's outstanding! Grace, one of her assistants, is also very gentle when applying base color and when shampooing out the base color in prep for additional color by LeAnn. They make a great team! read more

Apparently (from what I've heard from other women) Sarasota is a bit short on talented stylists and I have seen 5 here who did not work out!!! Alas, I finally found my match. As a new client, I went to Nuovo Lakewood Ranch for a haircut and asked for a Bob chin length and stacked slightly in the back. I specifically informed the hair stylist that I do not want texturizing or point cutting, and asked for a precision blunt cut. Didn't happen. I have been getting my hair highlighted at Nuovo salons (all locations) for 20 years. I went in and got a last minute appointment for a highlight and everything seemed normal. They have my highlight bleach/mix combo on file and she never even asked about it. I was unable to get it cut afterwards because she was busy, and she asked me if it was ok to leave it wet when I left. I agreed, as I have never once had a single issue with any experience there before. When I got home, I burst into tears after my daughter pointed out my hair was a super weird color. The highlights had turned my hair orangey and just awful, I wore a wide headband all weekend too cover it up. Went back the following Tuesday for the haircut and spoke to a manager who apologized and promised they would make it right. I received one text from an unknown employee saying the the stylist thought some gloss treatment would fix it and I could come in and get it done for $30. The stylist never even saw my hair afterwards, so how would she know how to fix it, why would I trust her since she didn't even dry a strand of hair to check the highlights the first time, and I am appalled they wanted me to pay for it on top of it all, and I was only given one time to do it, which I was out of town for and they knew it. I will not even return here. I have never complained once in 20 years, and when I did, it was handled poorly and unprofessionally. Now I have to dish out another $200 somewhere else to fix it. Awful. I am beyond so happy with this salon! I came to town for vacation and before I came I got my hair done to remove some pink color and after 6 hours in the chair the hairdresser turned my hair blotchyorange/yellow and charged me $180. The next day my hair was an even brighter yellow and it looked horrible. I was absolutely devastated because I've always taken such good care of my hair. I desperately reached out to salons in the area and Nuovo has such a kind staff when I called I decided to book with them. I ended being worked on by Demitra and she did an incredible job. She took time and searched out all the parts of my hair that were discolored and made sure to even out the color and get the yellow out. It only took 2 hours and my hair looks better than I could've asked. I highly recommend her. The rest of the staff was also wonderful. A nice lady came over and helped Demitra brush out my hair because I have so much and it take awhile. Scott was beside us working on someone and he was extremely nice and he did a wonderful job on his clients hair. Being new to the area I researched for the best salons and chose Nuevo. I made an appointment with a master stylist of over 20 years. I arrived knowing I was going to have some inches cut off to a medium length. I have always had great hair and could blow dry to look like Farrah Fawcett back in the day! Lol I advised S to error on the long side because my hair can "poof out" and to not cut it too short. I specifically said I need to be able to pull it all back into a pony tail for work. Showed her a picture and believe me my hair looked nothing like the picture when she was done. Someone else would have surely cried. I did go back and show S and the manager the mess I am left with. Of course they offered to fix it but the only way it can really be fixed is to let it grow out. The hair at my nape is shorter than my finger nail. I could not trust them to even out the length for fear it would be shorter than the other side! And the front is too short to pull back into a pony tail. I can barely make a stub. Disappointed, shocked, and very unhappy to say the least. read more

I've been to another Nuovo before, and I'm super familiar with the Aveda line. For the most part you get the same service everywhere since anyone working at an Aveda salon had to go through the Aveda school. Rochelle did my blow out, and she did a phenomenal job. She did a delightful 5 minute scalp massage, and really took her time with my some what annoying hair! She was also super sweet and very friendly. I only paid $31, which shocked me. I expected to pay much more. I come down to Sarasota for work every few weeks now, so I see no reason to not come back. :) read more

Do not recommend. After explaining my hair breaks easily the hair stylist insisted their highlights product had a bonding agent and would not damage my hair. Hair starting breaking upon first washing and here we are 6 months later and it's still breaking off. I would have given a negative 5 if that was an option. read more

I called to schedule a long overdue cut with my favorite stylist, only to be told she was no longer at the Cooper Creek Nuovo. I explained I requested Kate because she was able to work wonders with my extremely finicky hair- I swear it has a mind of it's own. The scheduler suggested Julianna and I made an appointment with her. Excellent decision! The scheduler listened to what I said and found the perfect stylist for me. I went to Nuovo for several years for one reason, and one reason only - my stylist of several years, Danna. Danna was amazing and I would get frequent compliments from strangers, asking where I get my color done. My stylist is no longer there so I'm no longer forced to deal with the salon. What a relief. The front desk staff have consistently displayed a superior, sneering attitude; acting almost as if they were doing you a favor by deigning to permit you to enter the premises. A couple of visits ago, I stood waiting for almost five minutes while a group of five staff members huddled at the desk talking about their weekend plans. A recent visit did show a delightful improvement - a new staff member (at least one new to me). Brandon, was so friendly, helpful, and polite. He greeted me immediately as I walked in, offered me water/coffee/tea and had my coffee waiting at the stylist's station by the time I got back there. An immense improvement. I certainly hope that this is a sign that the snooty, condescending attitudes are a thing of the past - not that it makes much difference to me now, I'm free of their rudeness. I'm thrilled to be able to go elsewhere to see Danna. I would not recommend this salon at all. read more

I came to this salon after moving here a few weeks ago. I never made it past the reception. I was not made to feel welcome at all. My new stylist kept me waiting for over 20 minutes and never came out to say hi or welcome to me. The front desk staff seemed hurried and never engaged me. I was offered water in a small paper medicine-like cup. The most uninviting first impression made me do a "runner". I scheduled an appointment with Marissa Murphy this past Saturday for a complete change. I had seen her on Instagram and knew she was really talented. My hair was down, almost to my hips. I told her that she could do whatever she wanted, but I only had two concerns. One, going too short and two, having to touch up roots later. She took her time and checked out the texture of my hair, looked for cow-licks, etc before cutting it. Front desk was very welcoming. I witnessed an irate customer come and had a schedule mix up. I made an appointment at the salon in Sarasota Square Mall for a consultation, hair trim and blow dry. I am trying to grow out my shot hair into a bob again. I had an appointment with Becky. She immediately began to tell me what bad condition my hair was in and that it was my fault since I color it the wrong way. So after the consultation, during which time she said that my hair would never grow in this condition, I said, "Just give me a blow dry and flat iron and forget the trim. ". She said, "I could not touch your hair with a flat iron!" So at that point I walked out! The salon had only one other customer and maybe the reason is that the stylists run the show. If I was the management,she would not have a job left. Only go there if you have perfect hair!!!!! read more

I have been to Nuovo in the Landings and downtown many times. Several times, the call-in phone scheduler person put me at the WRONG PLACE (last time I went to the Landings but they'd had me scheduled downtown, and the time before was the opposite). They handled it well, however, and got me right in with a minimal wait. The downtown location was much more swanky than the Landings last time I was there. I had seen Courtney there several times with great results. She did a wonderful short hair cut and color. She since has left. I had avoided going back due to the cost, but my scalp was itchy. A long time ago I'd gone to Nuovo for their medicated scalp treatment. This included a product that was applied to the scalp, massaged in (yummy!), then heat-set, then washed out (more yummy). The relief lasted for weeks during that summer and it was my go-to for several years when my thick hair was too hot and itchy. When I made an appointment a few months ago they put me in the wrong place. Again though, they got me in right away. The floor plan of the Landings location was more open than I remembered. Larger open floor space with many more stylist booths. It was packed. They changed the treatment and sitting under the dryer is no longer a part of the treatment. It's applied, massaged in for several minutes, and then washed right out after a few minutes. I complained that this wasn't what I thought I'd signed up for and the stylist explained that they'd changed and this was better. Every hair-wash sink was full and everyone was talking. Instead of the sedate, relaxing experience I had wanted, it was hard to tune out all the chatter. The stylist brought me back to her chair for my cut. I'm growing my hair out and she said that the only thing she could do was trim. She couldn't "style" my hair if I was growing it out. I've since talked to three other stylists that I know socially and they all had ideas of what they could do for me and were shocked that I wasn't given anything more than a trim. The medicated scalp treatment did not work AT ALL. I really feel like I wasted all the money I spent there, which was my Mother's Day gift this year. I didn't enjoy the experience or my cut and my scalp was still going crazy. I won't be trying Nuovo again, which is a shame. read more

Just moved to Sarasota and I've been very picky about finding a new hair salon due to the dangers of bleaching, but I must say Nathalie did AMAZING at fixing my roots plus the orange band I had going on closer to the roots, after a double process I was so scared my hair would be damaged and dry but she made it perfect and my hair actually feels just as healthy as before. The previous review rating this salon 5 stars is what made me book an appointment here. Nuovo has a good reputation in Sarasota, so I felt I could not go wrong. I was also able to book an appointment with short notice. Unfortunately, I didn't have such a stellar experience. This is a far cry from an Aveda quality salon. The service is OK, but it is lacking polish. The salon was a little dirty. Trash cans over flowing, hair dye stains on the floor and cupboards. The website states that the stylists are "Licensed professionals training with top artists to become future NUOVO Master Stylists". I've been to many training salons and have had my hair cut by junior stylists before, but there was no supervision at this salon. There were no supervisors on staff to make sure you are getting a good cut. My stylist was very friendly and I could tell the stylist wanted to do a good job, but the stylist seemed to be too green to be going it alone without someone there to guide. I do not know enough about haircutting to know what the stylist was doing wrong, but I've also sat in enough chairs to know when a stylist knows what they are doing. This stylist seemed to not have any methodology and was just making random cuts. I got cut and color and my tab was $85. If the cut was great, it would be a bargain, but the cut is bad, so it was a waste of my hard earned cash. I do not feel comfortable going back to this salon to have my hair fixed, so now I'm going to have to pay at least another $65 to have it corrected. read more

I have been a customer for years and always very happy with my cut and color and the way I am treated. My regular stylist was out on maternity leave and today I went in for my full highlight appointment with an alternate stylist, I'll call her stylist #1. Stylist #1 could not complete my service so I was handed off to stylist #2 to finish the service. Then, I was told stylist #2 couldn't cut or even blow dry my hair. They told me that I can, if I want, dry it myself. WHAT? I said no thanks. Needless to say, I left the salon with a wet head, or I should say they let me leave with a wet head. I complained to their "Leader" and she offered to hand me off to stylist #3 to cut and style my hair "for free". I declined the offer, as I wanted just to leave at this point. All I wanted was a relaxing experience and come out looking and feeling fabulous, Instead, I walked out upset and looking like a drowned rat. I have never seen anyone leave the salon looking the way I did, ever. There is no excuse for this, there was absolutely no continuity of service. My regular girl would NEVER let this happen. I was the first customer of Nuovo Salons re-opening today. I was greeted at the door with globs of Purell and a disposable mask. Seats were all spaced per recommendations. The only thing I touch the entire time was the fresh robe I put over my clothes and my cell phone. Each stylist displayed their certification of Covid 19 safety class. They get a A+++ under my scrutiny of a ICU nurse. There will be no herd immunity happening there unlike what I experienced at Costco and Publix. My Stylist is Juliana and she is awesome! read more
