It is now a year and half later and I am dissatisfied with everything but the vent hood and it has been so difficult to get Mike to come back and fix things. Toilet replacement - toilet was leaking from the flange somewhere still after the replacement, he would not come back to fix after I asked him 3 times about this issue Paint - we had a portion of the ceiling painted after drywall repairs -- I had a can of paint in my garage from previous homeowner but wasn't sure if it would match. Mike went ahead and did the whole ceiling and it ended up not matching -- he still charged ME when doing the repainting, implying that I took responsibility. Lesson learned -- don't ever try to help a contractor. Overall just a really confusing experience, I should have followed my instincts and pestered about the expectations and cost but I thought we had some rapport for some reason. Changing window balances - This was the most egregious... we needed new window balances on 10 or so windows in my home per Mike's suggestion. I called him and texted him multiple times asking when he would come back to do this... it took him several months and he gave me excuses saying it was hard for him to get the parts, because he wanted to give me quality balances and not the cheap kind. When he came he didn't bring the balances, and he judged that my old balances were fine and they just needed adjusting. He actually left one window without a balance, and never got back to me about the new parts which I wanted left at my place because it was part of the original contract. Also after a few weeks the problem came back and the windows were tough to open again.

A third of my house's lights were not working, and the breaker was popping immediately after trying to turn on any light. So, I wouldn't have minded paying $250, if the "technician", not electrician (even thought this happened after a major storm) actually figured out the problem. He had the audacity to try and convince me I needed to replace every light fixture, light bulb, and light switch, in my living, dining, kitchen, pantry, and laundry room. He quoted me nearly $3,000. Not only that, I was to supply all the materials for this, so that 3,000 was just labor, I was expected to go out and get every thing they needed. I literally laughed, and he tried to explain why he knew it was the fixtures themselves and not the breaker or wiring, which his explanation was unintelligible. I know maybe as much as the average technician would when it comes to electric work, and his explanation was bogus. I tried to talk it through with him, I didnt want to outright say I dont believe you. So instead I said okay well thanks I wont be needing the service you quoted, I can replace all of the fixtures, and what not, myself. And he kind of just froze. He asked are you sure? I said yes, who do you think installed the chandelier, ceiling fan, and dimmers? Im not paying 3k for crossing wires, I have a ladder. Then I went into my hall closet, pulled out a pack of LED flush mounts, and said see I already have the kitchen covered. My husband was in the background trying not to laugh. Anyway, I continued the conversation asking to pay for today. Things only spiraled from here, his card reader did not work, so he had to call another technician and read my card numbers to him, then he said we would get a receipt in our e-mail, but I didnt. He said well I sent it, arent you blah blah at blah.com, and I was like no, thats not me. So he also sent a detailed receipt to a different customer, and I am in a state funded address protection program, meaning, not even my bank knows my real address. But lo and behold, some stranger has my real name and address, my phone number and probably part of my card number. Thanks Aaron's electrical service. Needless to say I got an actual electrician to come, the problem was what I thought to begin with, an arc fault, no lights needed to be changed, no switches or lightbulbs, and it cost less than Aaron's service fee. It was fixed in less than an hour. I should be refunded for the diagnosis because he was wrong, if I would have let them come in, and do the work he quoted, I would be out 3K and my lights still would not have worked.

I was scheduled for an afternoon appointment. The techs showed up first- thing in the morning and…read moregot me out of bed. Leaving and returning didn't appear to be an option. They isolated the problem to a faulty toggle switch with built-in dimmer slider. They didn't have an exact replacement. By fiddling wires in the wall and setting the dimmer to a certain spot they got the assembly to not continue shorting. When they left, I was missing a wall plate screw in a highly visible area. I later discovered that 1/4 of the house (different area) had no power, including the security system, as they hadn't reseated a breaker they had shut off during troubleshooting. Weeks later the furnace guy found the attic light had been left on the whole time. The Cotton bill for that minor service (with no repair) was more than my monthly pension payment. I will never call Cotton again.
