If I could give no stars, I would. My daughter, 23 years old, came to this clinic on 12/10. She had…read morebeen vomiting since 12/5 and could not hold anything down. They swabbed her for Flu and Covid, both were negative. No labwork drawn, no fluids given; she was told it was viral. They gave her a shot of promethazine for the nausea. She drove herself to the clinic, and if you know anything about this medication, it will affect a person's cognitive abilities. She was told that she has 20 minutes to get home before it kicks in. She then left after 45 minutes of them getting their payment and her discharge instructions together. She still did not receive discharge instructions from them. She was high as a kite when she got home. Thank God she didn't kill herself or, God forbid, someone else. Fast forward to Friday, December 12. She had a seizure around 6AM, ambulance called, she went to the ER. She was severely dehydrated, had critically low sodium due to the severe dehydration (which caused the seizure), kidney failure (creatinine of 7.8), and liver failure (lab values in the 3,000 and 5,000 range). Obviously, she was admitted to the ICU. She ended up being intubated, having to have dialysis, amongst many other things. We are now on day 18 in the hospital and still no outlook for discharge. Would drawing labs and giving her fluids have prevented this? I'm not sure. But it sure would have been a critical step to try to prevent it. I called and talked to the assistant manager regarding the lack of care from her visit and the fact that she was given an injection of medication and allowed to drive. Got zero empathy, zero help; she was not aware of their policy about giving that medication. She didn't know what the policy was for the providers at their previous places of employment regarding the administration of this medication and how it differs from the current one. Common sense would tell anyone, if a medication affects a person's cognitive function, they should not be allowed to drive. PERIOD! If she would have had a wreck, this clinic would have been liable for that. Sorry for the long post but please, do not take your loved ones to this clinic. We got really close to losing our daughter at 23 years old. After speaking to them, they do not care. There was no concern or remorse for the situation. Find a provider that takes their job seriously and cares about patient's health and getting them better.

However, I ran into a major issue recently that left me feeling extremely disappointed and unheard. I was told that I could not receive even a single additional month of medication unless I physically came in for another appointment, despite informing them that I'm in the process of establishing a new PCP. It seems completely unreasonable that, after explaining this, they would refuse to offer any flexibility or assist in a timely manner. What really upset me was the lack of empathy or understanding. It felt like the company's policy mattered more than the actual well-being of their patients. I've been a loyal customer for a while, and a little flexibility in this situation would have gone a long way in maintaining my trust and continued business. In an age where patient care should be the priority, this experience was both frustrating and disappointing. I understand the importance of following procedures, but when it comes to patient health, especially in transitionary periods like this, a bit of compassion and common sense should be part of the equation. I really hope they rethink this policy moving forward, because their current approach certainly leaves much to be desired.

The doctor then came in, told me I had tonsillitis, gave me a steroid shot, and prescribed antibiotics. He neglected to go through symptoms with me and spent less than 5 min in the room with me. I trusted what I was told and took the antibiotics as prescribed. 4 days went by and my symptoms had only gotten worse, I could barely talk and the pain was so severe I was unable to even drink. I went back in on Monday, and after the nurse was looking at what I was prescribed and diagnosed on Friday, she was surprised and told me that it wouldn't have helped me get better. The doctor, different from my prior appointment, came into the room and analyzed every symptom I had complaints about and went through everything very thoroughly with me. Despite how busy the clinic was, she ensured to give me the proper care and time needed to help me get better. Due to the unfortunate circumstances I dealt with from my first appointment at West Wind Primary Health Center, I missed 5 days of work and was in severe pain that could have been prevented. Despite my negative experience with my first time there, as a whole, the clinic staff was top notch and very helpful.

I'm not sure how to frame this review, but I will do my best to give the employees at this hospital…read morethe benefit of the doubt during this difficult time. I am a veteran who has no other option than a civilian emergency room just like so many others right now. I arrived at 4:30pm to be seen for kidney stones. I developed chronic kidney stone syndrome while on my first tour in 2008 to Iraq and have since passed roughly 65-70 stones since then. Not All of them leave me debilitated, but this one.. This one has had me bawling and writhing on the floor in excruciating pain. Now, I have no idea what covid fear has done to the mass populace, but I stand firm that my immune health will be fine throughout.. I was triaged and registered, then told it would be a 3 hour wait. After an hour and a half of waiting, I get up and check my place in line and am told it is now a 5 hour wait. For anyone who has passed a stone (dudes, I'm talking to you) you Know it is the most excruciating pain a male can go through, comparable to birth. After dropping to the floor from dizziness, the security guard asked if I needed a wheelchair, which I took him up on. This was just prior to being told the wait time had jumped 2 hours. After about 2 minutes of deliberation, I called my wife to come pick me up so I wasnt basking in sick people's germs for even longer than I was originally told. I hobbled into the back to have them remove the IV and was asked to sign the "you're leaving against doctors advice" form. That was laughable. No doctor had seen me, no one had advised me. No one did shit except make me feel awkward for inquiring about my place in line. Based on the looks I received, it's my guess that my tattoos (zero gang affiliated ink btw) had something to do with it. It definitely wasnt my demeanor, my Please and Thank you's were in all the right places. As I'm having my IV removed, I state how sad it is that vets are given such second rate treatment at Every hospital, not just this one. I hobble out to the front where my wife had dropped me off and I collapse before reaching the curb, writhing in pain. I crawl to the curb with Zero "hey man, are you ok" from the staff. For about 7 minutes I laid on the ground, unable to get comfortable as my stone/s descended further and further. The car ride home was intense for my flanks, and once home I drop to the floor just shy of my bed and really let the waterworks out. It is now 8pm, and I would have had another hour and a half to go had I stayed. Like so many VA hospitals, this seems like the type that will let you die in the waiting room before receiving care. In conclusion, if you have Real pain or Real sickness/illness, don't put your faith in UMC. They almost certainly will leave you worse for wear. Thank God I wasnt actually stabbed, even though my guts are being torn apart right now, I probably would have bled out. That is the fairest review I could muster. Lesson learned.

However, I recently had a phone call with a member of the chronic care team that I found unprofessional and upsetting. The call was intended to be a routine health check-in, but the conversation quickly became judgmental and dismissive regarding my circumstances. I explained that I had moved an extended distance due to factors outside of my control, which has made it more difficult to access specialists. Instead of focusing on my care or offering solutions, I was told that people should make housing decisions based on proximity to medical care. This felt like blame rather than support. I also discussed that I sometimes use AI tools to help me organize health-related information and prepare questions for my doctor so I can better advocate for myself. I was told that using AI in this way is "dangerous," without any meaningful explanation or discussion, which felt dismissive rather than informative or professional. Most concerning, the conversation included an unsolicited reference to religion (specifically God) that was not relevant to my medical care. I immediately made it clear that I do not share those beliefs and did not wish to discuss religion in a healthcare context. Instead of acknowledging this boundary, the nurse doubled down, scoffed in response and stated "well, that's your belief". I found this highly inappropriate and disrespectful in a medical setting, particularly during a health-related call where religion had no relevance. Overall, the tone of the interaction felt condescending and dismissive rather than supportive or patient-centered. I left the call feeling talked down to rather than listened to. I want to be clear that this feedback is not about my physician, who I continue to trust and appreciate. It is specifically about this interaction with the chronic care staff member, which did not reflect the standard of care I expect from the practice.

After establishing care, I was later informed of additional requirements that were different from what had originally been explained to me. When I politely asked whether the policy had changed and requested clarification, I did not receive a direct answer. Instead, I was told the office does not provide its policies to patients. Patients deserve transparency, especially when changes in office policies can affect ongoing treatment. Clear, consistent communication is essential for building trust between patients and their healthcare providers. While everyone I interacted with was courteous, I left feeling frustrated by the lack of transparency and the inconsistent information I received. I hope the practice will consider communicating policy changes more clearly so future patients know what to expect.
