I shopped around for a solid crew at a good price. I was very particular at what I wanted and it was a bit of a unique shape for my driveway, but Richards team accommodated my requests for shape and mixed stamp/smooth texture. My only complaint would be that I didn't love the color once it was down, but that's more my fault for not taking the time to think that part of it through. Richard and his team removed our old driveway, installed a new concrete driveway with brick ribbons, added a stub wall at the edge of our property, and built a brick pillar for our mailbox. The work was done quickly and efficiently with clear communication. The crew tidied up after themselves each day, made sure to mark any uneven areas with caution tape, and paid careful attention to detail. When one brick ribbon turned out a little wobbly, Richard had the crew redo it without our even saying anything. My new driveway (165 sf) was completed in 2 days and the result is excellent! The crew showed up at the agreed upon time, made quick work of the demolition and removal of the driveway, while cleaning the entire time and prepping for the next day's pouring of the concrete. I called many and made careful selection who to choose and ask a lot of questions yes I'm annoying lol but Richard was very professional and answered all my questions and concerns I had ,and even offered more then what I asked and I love that! you can clearly see he lives up to a higher standard then just get in and out of a job he really cares that you are pleased with the job they performed , I love that and have decided to go with him for maintaining our yard cause you can tell he cares and it's more then a go in mow and blow and leave he will make sure job is correctly done and I appreciate that.. Hm let me just warm up my bad review wand here.. First let me say the good things. Richard Calderon was funny and personable. His workers were pretty competent. Bad: Zero followup. He promised the moon as far as "Oh yeah man call me if you have any issues with this job" - we're talking about a grand spent on a new sprinkler system and valve in the backyard. I called him when it started leaking at the valve- cringing, thinking I would get the shuffle off, I call him- and- yeah, voice mail. Ok, I try again right away, I get him- "Oh yeah I'll be out to take a look tomorrow" I nail down a time, etc etc, and next day- nothing. No call, nothing. I try to follow up, and it says it's disconnected. Yeah. Try again later, leave another voice mail. Today I will be calling a plumber to fix his work. Argh. Yeah- in summary- AVOID! read more

I had a great experience with Richard and his crew. First, I hired them to install some concrete in the front and back of my house, to add some parking spaces. The concrete came out perfectly. Then I called them back to install some landscaping. Richard took me to Home Depot and recommended some different plants & trees that would suit my property. On our way back to the house, he called his crew to start preparing the soil (I love efficiency :). The landscaping looks amazing! The crew is very skillful, friendly, and cleaned everything up perfectly when it was all done. They even setup my drip system to water the trees efficiently. This guy "Richard" was supposed to start a 5k project for me at my home, no call, no show... I waited nearly 2 hours before I left, late to my first job, now looking as unprofessional as him. Didn't return my messages until later to tell me he went on a "lil vacation" instead of starting my job that we had scheduled, and that he could start tomorrow... I was very disappointed after getting off to a very good start with Richard. We hired him to re-do our backyard, cement and sod. Everything looked great and they finished the job quickly. We were very pleased with the work and called Richard again for some more work on our front yard. After a few missed appointments we finally got Richard to come back out again. We showed him what we wanted done and he gave us a quote the next day. We agreed to go through with the work, but it never started on the date we agreed to. On the 3rd reschedule, we were supposed to meet him at a nursery to pick out plants for the job. We tried to contact him the night before and morning of, no response. We met at our house two times, agreed upon work, pricing and start date - and then he just completely disappeared....again! We called, emailed and texted multiple times and the guy just completely ignored us. I can't believe Richard literally did the same thing to us twice. We have spend hours now working and arranging and communicating with him only to have him completely disappear right before the start of the project. Following up from my email inquiry, Richard connected by email, phone and text towards meeting at my property to survey a project and make an estimate. Richard was friendly, knowledgeable about residential landscaping issues, and demonstrated quality business conduct with his quote and agreement to begin work the following day at 8 am. The relationship went downhill from there. In fact, vanished completely. Richard failed to show up the next day. After 10 am I tried to reach him via the same communications we used to set up the initial meeting. I left a cordial voice mail inviting Richard to still show up for the job or to be so kind as to simply let me know he decided to not perform. The courtesy would have enabled my earliest action to recapture other opportunities that I'd turned away after Richard set up the job. Shameful conduct; business or otherwise. DO NOT USE Richard/Affordable Landscape...they were hired to rototill, lay weed blocker with cardboard and netting (on his assistance), spread mulch and plants. They NEVER laid the cardboard or netting, so weeds are now everywhere. Never finished the backyard as well. AVOIDED ALL TEXTS/EMAILS/CALLS to come back and fix/finish the job. Richard and his crew did an amazing transformation of my front yard and a portion of my backyard. They removed several large trees and bushes, including the root stumps. They upgraded my old 3 valve irrigation system in the front yard, with 6 valves, which included sprinklers, drip lines, hose irrigation, and multiple water regulators due to excessive water pressure at my house. They installed a valve in the backyard for drip irrigation on the new hedge bushes they installed. They made a beautiful retaining wall that ran along the sidewalk in front of my house, made a beautiful stepstone, river rock pathway that connected from my driveway to the front steps. Installed the plants and trees in both my front and backyard, placed all the wiring so that landscape lighting can go up. They prepped and painted my sight for sore eye cinder block fence into a beautiful brown fence. My house has always had poor drainage issues. They took time to level appropriately before laying the sod. I'm extremely happy with the result of the landscape. I've gotten many compliments so far. Richard is honest and conscientious about making sure all the details are done to my liking. They didn't cut corners. Also, I had a budget for this project. Richard was flexible in that he allowed me to buy some of materials, such as plants and bushes, and some of the masonry items. He charged only for installation of those items. I highly recommend Richard and his crew to anyone interested in getting landscaping done. You will not be disappointed. read more

We had a similar experience as to what others have described here. Richard came and gave a quote. He appeared to be very knowledgeable and professional. We decided to hire him and he said he would start Tuesday morning at 8 am. He then informed us that we needed to get a dumpster and he would come the next day to start work. No show on Wed and no response to texts and calls. Eventually he switched his phone off. Never heard of him since. We had a dumpster paid for with nobody to fill it!! One of these days I will learn to check yelp reviews BEFORE I do business with a company. In this particular case, though, I am glad I didn't because I may not have hired Richard if I had seen these. I had a wonderful experience with Affordable Landscape. I was looking for someone to install new valves and a sprinkler system in my backyard. I got an estimate from Richard, as well as three other companies. Richard was the second least expensive, but the actual least expensive company did not seem as competent and knowledgable about the best way to tackle this big ol yard. So, I chose Richard. He had great communication with me throughout the project (which I ended up adding a couple of tings to, when I saw what a great job they were doing) I cannot say enough wonderful things about his crew. They were so respectful and took pride in their work. Also, I told Richard that I was trying to do as much of the work as I could in the yard and instead of trying to make me feel like I wouldn't be able to do it myself (as a single woman, I get that kind of treatment OFTEN) he offered tips and suggestions as well as telling me where to get the best price for certain items.
