I got 3 estimates for my front yard landscaping. We wanted some turf to replace our old (mostly dead) grass, pavers and some new plants to punctuate. Garret came in slightly under the others - and actually was able to do a little more within my budget than the other options! We also love that when he came out, he actually had sample grasses for us to pick from on the spot and a booklet of all the paver options, so it was easy to visualize the end result. We had a disastrous start with another turf company (which I won't name here but they have a review coming soon). There were multiple issues - they never showed up on time, sometimes working less than 2 hours before leaving and the owner "needed a check to pick up the turf" and then ghosted us. Needless to say, we fired them (after putting a stop on the check - thankfully they hadn't cashed it yet). We then called Garrett and Evergreen Landscaping for an estimate - from the moment we talked we could tell a huge difference in professionalism and communication. We were to meet at 4:00 on a Tuesday. We got a call from Garrett who said he was running 5 to 10 minutes late which for most other contractors we have dealt with that would be early. True to form he was there before 4:10. He was very personable and knowledgeable. We got an estimate and accepted the next morning. He came by for a deposit on Wednesday evening and by 7:45 the next morning the turf was out in front of our home. He had said that his crew would be there at 8 to start. Well, he missed that - there were there at 7:58 lol - unbelievable that a contractor actually honored his word. They were on time and worked hard for over 8 hours (and put the other company to shame). By Friday afternoon the turf was in and looked absolutely great! Disappointing to have to write this but after an long meeting on my property with Garrett to discuss the project and a promise to send me a quote within a few days I've not gotten a quote and also not being responsive to multiple outreach. First it was that he 'sent' it to the email I provided although I never received it and it was not in spam etc. I re-shared email he said he'd send it (after a text and a call) and still nothing. I had a giant piece of rock that I had no idea how to get rid of. As an architect I've worked in the past with Andy Juels on Turf installation for a 1000sf rooftop deck. This time his crew installed a turf he'd recommended which I preferred over the ones I had selected. This was installed in a residential HOA community (with Board approval) on a front lawn that can't be irrigated due to below grade concerns for the house. The material is perfect, his crew got it right and neighbors walking by regularly comment on its natural look. Though I'll remove it once Construction plans are approved, it's designed to last 15+ years. No watering or gardening needed and the color will survive winter browning.
