Over priced. They do not post their prices on their website nor in the salon. I was visiting Santa Fe, and wanted my grey covered up a bit. At my salon at home, I'm charged $20 for men's grey blending. It's a quick, 15 minute procedure. This salon charged $113!!! (One tube of the stuff is $30 and it is enough for three applications.) I gave Juan the exact numbers for the formula that my stylist at home uses. When he finished, Juan said "That's a great colour, now I have a formula to use on others". Hmm....maybe I should have charged him for the information. They were inflexible on the price. A full-on colour job is NOT the same thing as the Aveda men's grey blending. Outraged. read more

I had my first ever facial today at NV Aveda Salon and it was awesome. The customized facial by Veronica was so relaxing. Being my first time, I didn't realize how much was included in my facial. I got a customized scent that I picked out. Yummy Bergamot. Then there is wonderful neck and shoulder massage, hand and feet treatments, and a scalp treatment with head massage. I was in heaven. All of this was happening while she was cleaning and detoxifying my skin. My only question was when can I come back and do this again. I have had other services there too. I have been for cuts, color, touch-ups,highlights and waxing. All were fine but the facial was above and beyond. Sadly, there's some real anger that goes on in some of the shops in Santa Fe. It's really bad and makes the people who do it seem desperate, like criminals. This particular salon is one of the dirtiest to deal with, Brian in particular; they do not post their prices on their website nor in the salon itself. $106 for a single process color is a lot across the country (LA, LV, NYC) but for them to charge this here, is just ridiculous. This is a very tiny shop in a strip mall of all places. Further, they raised their prices without any notification what-so-ever, in one month to $117, and only told me after the service. It was very clear this salon is about how much they can charge and get away with it. They are interested in what they can take you for, not about establishing relationships. The co-owner (Brian) had the gall to tell me,"most clients don't ask the price". Rarely have I seen such pretension in a place so underwhelming. Really dirty, underhanded people. Have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (703-276-0100) and The Aveda Cooperation (800-644-4831). read more

This salon was such a huge disappointment. As a gift, my mom went to have a facial done here. It was supposed to be a 60-minute facial (based on the value and selection made by my mom), and although she thought the technician did a fairly decent job, she only spent 40-minutes on her. Not getting what you paid for, and still feeling obligated to leave a tip, is unacceptable. I won't purchase gift certificates here in the future. read more

Paid $30 for a men's short haircut (so not difficult cut at all) and it was horrible. I had to fix it myself. Totally uneven blend, chunks of hair sticking out, missed areas with the clippers. I am from out of town visiting family and needed someone to color and cut my hair. My family recommended Jayme. I called and asked for her. They told me she is no longer there but wouldn't tell me where she is. I did some investigating and found out she is at Shear Perfection Salon in the design center. She did an amazing job! Due to circumstances outside of anyone's control, my scheduled stylist did not show up for my appointment. Juan, an Aveda master stylist, squeezed me in between appointments for low lights, shampoo and style. Not only did he kindly fit me in, he took his time and did an awesome job of adding colour to my very long gray hair. I will book Juan again and recommend him for colour and cuts (he did his scheduled cut appointment while my hair was working and it was beautiful). Juan was friendly and generously offered to work extra hours for other clients whose appointments were with the other stylist. read more

I have had 3 different people color and cut my hair here: Whitney, Jayme (no longer there), and Reed. They have each done an exceptional job. Aveda is pricey but it's worth it to feel confident knowing they aren't going to screw your hair up. read more

I travel a lot and have always gone to Aveda salons and still do -but not this Aveda salon in Santa Fe. This salon is undoubtedly the worst hair salon in Santa Fe but the worst Aveda Salon I have ever been to "ever". This salon was a very unfortunate experience. Juan, the hairstylist who did my hair was such a nice guy and if you ask me - he is way too good for this ghetto placement of an Aveda Salon. It is small, dirty and the manager is the least customer service oriented person I have ever met in any salon! He surely has to be a stain to be attached to the Aveda franchise. In fact, he and his salon were so horrible - I called and followed up with an email to Aveda Corporate Offices in Minneapolis in reference to this manager and his "horrible" for a lack of better words - customer service. It seems this manager has had many complaints and based on this I am not sure how/why they are still open. He is nasty on many levels! Oh and get this - Aveda Corporate Offices in order to rectify my horrible experience at this salon (communications were documented as well as recorded) they sent me a check for $500! No joke! Recap: Horrible manager, horrible customer service from manager especially, unfriendly staff, (except for Juan - he was very kind - Juan you are too good of a hairstylist for this salon) and the salon was very dirty! The absolute WORST cut I have had in my 30 years in Santa Fe. And NOT CHEAP ($125). The owner, JUAN GOMEZ, gave me a cut that looked good until I went home and washed it. I asked for a "re-do" and Gomez was RUDE, ARROGANT and INSULTING. When I went back, he picked up a swatch of my hair (dry, not wet) and just whacked it off when I complained that he had cut the front section wrong and it needed to be shorter to avoid the middle part he had created with two heavy wings of hair on my forehead. I was thoroughly embarrassed by his rude behavior and disdain for my concerns. I do know my own hair and how it should look after a proper cut. He made it even worse (purposely?) than the initial cut. Next day I called and demanded my $ refunded. The receptionist instead suggested that another stylist try to repair it. Then they refused to even do that. WORST SHOP IN TOWN. Save your money and go to SuperCuts. read more

If there was a ZERO star option, I would have chosen that. This place is an absolute joke. The manager is a complete jerk, they "stylist" turned my wife's beautiful blonde hair orange, purple and white, and when we complained they refused to correct the issue. My wife left in tears and I went and had a word with the manager. He did nothing but blame the products that my wife uses for the issues that they caused with her hair. The manager is a pompous jerk that absolutely no concept of customer service and blames his customers for whatever goes wrong in his salon. When my wife called me in tears after she was turned away with purple hair I was absolutely irate. It's a crime that this place can cal itself a salon. It's five days before Christmas and now my wife has to figure out how to get these awful colors fixed before we see the entire family. Rude and disorganized staff. Have been several times due to laziness in finding another salon but my last visit was too awful. The cut was OK but the color was a terrible, rushed job. I had been going to cut and color my hair with Juan for more than a year. I was satisfied with service. However, I recently went for a root coloring and hair cut. I paid my bill but was distracted, when I went home I realized that I was charged $270!!! I called to see if it was a mistake since I was there just three months ago. Brayan explained the prices went up. No warning or anything to the costumer. No prices are posted so the bill has been random from 45 to now this exuberant amount. I also explained that after seeing the hair cut at home with a mirror I can see all angles I realized it was not as I had asked. He made an appointment to fix it. I went back today to get it fixed. Juan was obviously not happy about my complain. He didn't even wet my hair and made a quick fix. Poked my neck with the scissors numerous times and, not apologized even once. After paying 270 dollars I think I have right to get what I asked for. Never going back. Too bad because I like the products and had been an Aveda costumer for more than a decade. But not only the prices are now outrageous I was disappointed by their service. read more

Don't waste your time or your money. My husband and I have been loyal to Aveda for 10+ years before moving to Santa Fe. He went first, and told me not to waste my time and I wish I would have listened (he hasn't been back since). I went for a hair glaze. If I wanted my hair done by a stylist who reeked of cigarette smoke I would've gone some place that charged $9 for a haircut although I think I still would've gotten better service. The whole salon smelled like smokey stylists. My "colorist" said maybe 5 words to me the entire time and needed somebody's help and advice for the whole glaze. After ALL of this, the glaze was so so. I was charged almost $90 for a service I have never paid more than $50 for at any other Aveda I have ever been to. The whole thing was such a joke. I saw several people come in and out getting hair cuts while I was there and felt the same thing about their overpriced services. After trying a half dozen other salons and paying upscale prices for less than average work, I decided to try Aveda. I have been going to Holly at Aveda ever since. I went in for an all over foil with highlights for my roots and roots only. The stylist didn't do enough foils and I still had a very visible root line after. The toner used did not blend the old highlights with the new. I called the next business day and went in to have it corrected. I was told more highlights would need to be added then a color in order to blend. The stylist over bleached my hair to the point where some strands are white and breaking off. The worst part was the dye. The ammonia fumes were so bad the stylist put a towel over my nose and mouth. She complained about the smell as well but was acting on direction of another stylist who appeared to have authority. When I told the stylist and possible manager (multiple times) my scalp was burning I was told to toughen up. My scalp still burns 8 hours later, after rewashing my hair to ensure all the chemical was rinsed out. I will never go back. Worst experience at a salon ever. I feel like a guinea pig for a new, inexperienced stylist. read more

I've been a loyal customer for about 4 years. Suddenly everyone in the salon got fired except my stylist, Holly. Employees were constantly disgruntled every time I went in. I got my normal services. Was told to come back to get what I had done toned. They turned my hair purple! Because I didn't want to offend the stylist, after I left and called the manager and explained to him my issue. After about 10 minutes of arguing with him about how I want my hair to look and accepting any liability that went with it, he agreed to fix it. When I got there no one was in the building and when they finally came in from "lunch" Brian, the owner, told my that they'd refund my money and that they'd not be doing my hair anymore. I left, in tears, confused, embarrassed and angry. All I wanted was to not have purple hair. Ever since they "cleaned house" things have not been the same. Brian is rude, uneducated and argumentative. This is such a shameful way of running a customer service business. Enter at your own risk!!! read more

Beware of Juan. I am a first-time and last-time client to this Aveda salon. I was scheduled for an appointment this morning at 9:30. I Arrived a few minutes early. As I was walking through the parking lot, there was a man in a black apron arguing with someone on his cell phone. I arrived in the salon a few minutes before my appointment time. I presented myself at the front desk; nobody knew where Juan was. After a few minutes, Juan entered through the front door. Apparently he was the man in the parking lot on the cell phone. I sat down in his chair. He started mixing up color. I asked if it was going to blend into my base color. He then abruptly ripped off my cape and exclaimed "you need a different appointment. I'm not doing you today". The staff was shocked. I was shocked. This is not how one treats a first time client...or a human for that matter. As I walked out I heard the staff say " Juan, you could have done her". Very rude treatment. Lack of professionalism. Juan seems over-worked and stressed out and certainly his behavior lacks at demonstrating excellent client satisfaction, even in the event of a scheduling error. No niceties. No apologies. Just a swift get out of my chair. I had made this appointment earlier in the week; staff said he had 2 cancellations. That's how I was able to get in quickly. Great stylists are hard to get an appointment with and rarely have cancellations. Beware of this man. I shall never return. read more

I went there about 4 times, and was fairly satisfied each time, though the cuts for my short hair were pricey. The last time I went, the stylist parted my hair in a different place than I part it, and then cut to that part. She never asked me where I parted my hair. When I left, the hair that always goes to the other side was way too long and flopped over to it's usual place. I went back and mentioned the problem, and she was obviously put out and upset that I questioned her work. She convinced me it would be okay. I left again, and felt so upset that I actually went back. I was kind and simply told her that it would not work. She told me that I should "shave my head" and that I would be happier. I've never really understood why so many of my Santa Fe girlfriends go out of town to Phoenix or Denver to get their hair done but maybe I do now! I have never had a truly uncomfortable experience at an Aveda concept salon before and, sure, some are a bit better than others but I have to say that this was the first time I felt like a salon was doing me a massive favor by having me as a customer! While my stylist was really very pleasant, I have to say that for a salon that didn't appear to be very busy, not one other person within the salon staff acknowledged me! No smiles, nothing. And while it's not the most expensive Aveda salon I've ever been to, it wasn't cheap (my guess is they may be the most expensive short of Sun/Moon in Santa Fe) and I honestly can't say I feel like I got my money's worth. Listen up women!!! I am not youngster, & was very concerned with my continuing hair loss. I went in to request a hairstyle to reduce the emphasis of my thinning hair. The OWNER insisted that he could do nothing for me & that I needed hair extensions or a wig. Saying "Everyone on tv wears a wig". He was so vile & rude & completely unhelpful to me by removing any hope of minimizing my hair loss, that I broke in to tears & ran out of the salon.... Demoralized, ashamed & hopeless. I went to a different salon... Got a fabulous consult... A fabulous cut that does the most with what I have! Maybe I should not have bother... But I went back to show that owner what a competent & compassionate stylist did for me. This took place on a Saturday .... What should have been a BUSY day... I realized that the place was deserted, and I realized that it was also empty on my first visit one week before! Well this owner bastard started yelling at me! I contacted Aveda in Minnesota thru their website. They responded with a form email that they were too busy to respond to my concern, but would respond ASAP. That was in September. I called them in November when no response occurred.They found no evidence of my message on their website, but would research my concern. In January I wrote another email, this time of rage & vowing to tell my story to anyone who would hear it.... Got an email back that they had no record or any indication that I had ever contacted them in ANY way! Do not patronize this salon or Aveda products in any venue.... Tell them why, too! read more

Use to go here and had really good experiences and the stylist was competent and experienced. I usually asked for her. ( name withheld bc it is a sm community ). One day, this person was in such a bad mood...it was so very obvious. It seemed she was upset at management. It was as if something had just just just happened to her. Anyway I shrugged it off. She was pulling hard on my thin hair. I'm an older woman and need every hair strand! She was unable to concentrate and I had to repeat my requests several times. And this was a day I had invited a friend to come in with me to meet the stylist and have her hair blown out. The lady was kind of mean and rude to my friend. We tried to lighten up the atmosphere but it just went down hill. My friend's scalp was a little tender after all was said and done. I was embarrassed and apologized to my friend. I did call the owner and it just fell on deaf ears. He was just as indifferent! Maybe by then she was out of there. Who knows. I love AVEDA products but no more for this place. No better than supercuts... My husband is a regular with Juan and my two kids needed haircuts better than supercuts so I took them in. We saw Amanda and she was terrible. Rude and argumentative and when I took pictures and explained the cut I wanted for my son (which was long), she proceeded to just give him the exact same (very short) haircut as the little boy before him. The second haircut was my daughter, I explained that I wanted some layers cut into her curly hair. Showed her a picture. She claimed to have a great haircut for curly hair. Then she blunt cut the ends (not a single layer as I had tediously explained) and spent 20 minutes putting product in and styling it. Was that her big plan for a "cut" that brings out the curls? What a waste for a 6 year old. I will never go there again. The supercuts people may not be that great, but they attempt to do what you ask for. This is Aveda, I expected more for $80. read more

Went in to Aveda for a haircut on Saturday with Holly. What a nightmare! Holly was incredibly rude, questioned if I knew what an inch was when I asked her to take an inch off. Needless to say I left there with the worst haircut. Sideburns are uneven, hairline in back is crooked, top is uneven. I've had better haircuts at the Aveda school, where they are just learning to cut hair. I called to make a complaint to the owner Brian, who was even more rude than Holly. I explained that my hair was uneven, before I could even finish, he stated "Holly has been cutting hair for 25 years with no complaints, must just be you." He suggested I go in for the other owner to look at my hair, I explained it would have to be over the weekend, he said you would have to be scheduled l, you can't just come in. At this point I hung up, the owner obviously has no customer service skills, why should his employees. Mark Pardo salons would never behave this way. I've heard the other stylists are great, it's unfortunate they had no openings when I scheduled. Avoid this salon if at all possible. High prices, bad haircut, uncaring, pretentious owner. read more

Horrible experience! Zero stars!!! I just received the worst haircut of my life and I'm 38 years old. I asked for a trim, but the stylist instead butchered the left side of my head. When she went to trim the side of my head, above the ears, she took the trimmer on the left really high, the right side was fine, but the left didn't look good. At first I gave her the benefit of the doubt (she's the professional), but when it became obvious that she had taken the trimmer WAY too far up on the left side, I said it looked a bit too short. She started to try to fix it, but then gave up .... the right side didn't match the left and the top of my hair wasn't blended. It just looked terrible, but she said it was finished. When I said it was obviously not finished and way too short on one side, she got super defensive and mad at me and said said my instructions weren't specific enough. I was not aggressive or mean, but merely said it looked too short on one side and that the hair cut didn't look finished. After I said this, she was so upset that she said she could no longer continue. Honestly I didn't want her to continue. I was left in the chair with a half finished hair cut and with a huge mistake on one side. Luckily another stylist stepped in and tried to save the haircut, which even she admitted didn't look very good. The new stylist did a good job trying to save it, but I've never had a worse experience at a styling salon. read more
