Got blackout shades from here and after using them for several weeks, we are pretty disappointed. They are definitely not blackout on installation, theres a large amount if light that comes in through the sides. We flagged this after installation and they say its standard. Additionally, the shades themselves get caught on themselves rolling up, and sometimes will not stay in place we want them, and just roll all the way down. The employees and the installation was fine, but the product really feels not as was advertised to us personally. UPDATE: After I posted this original review at 3 stars, the owner of the company reached out and offered to provide sidechannels that would reduce the light. We declined the offer because we don't like the look of the channels themselves, but the company did come out and replace one of the rollers, which was defective upon installation. I have updated this to four stars because of the service and offer. read more

We got motorized shades installed from here. The shades themselves are great, and the price was competitive/similar to other companies I quoted. However, I had an issue with their lead time and organisation and scheduling. I was promised shades in 3-4 weeks. The shades took 5 weeks to come in, and installation was scheduled. On the morning of the installation, they called to cancel (due to their error of failing to also schedule their in house electrician) and had to reschedule me for two weeks out. So in total, it took 7 weeks to get the shades in... they were scheduled to come back the following week to finish patching up my walls and emailed to cancel same day again, and rescheduled me a week out. There were still some cracks in my walls when they finished but I decided to fix it myself as this project had already dragged out 8 weeks at this point. Everyone we spoke to was nice and friendly but just felt they missed the mark with the timing and scheduling. read more

My experience with NY City Blinds exceeded all expectations. I searched far and wide for a reliable, reasonably-priced, and quality blinds service. Many of the ones I looked at were either way too expensive or downright disappointing. Lack of options, too. (I started with The Shade Store ... even though my friends warned I'd be disappointed, as their customer service is awful and products laughably overpriced. My friends were right.) Then I found Guy from NY City Blinds. The entire process (i.e., initial conversations, choosing the right shades/drapes, working to stay within my budget) from start to finish was seamless. And always done with the customer in mind. Despite a few setbacks (i.e., longer wait times for production due to Covid-19), everything was completed sooner than I had expected. Guy walked me through what shades and styles were best for me and even gave his helpful, expert opinion. Everything turned out exactly as I envisioned. Guy is extremely knowledgable and answered all my questions (patiently!). The quality of their products are just as good, if not better, than some of the other overpriced places you'll find in the city. Communication was on point and Guy was always reachable via phone/text/email. The NY City Blinds team did a wonderful job installing my shades, rod, and curtains. They followed all Covid-19 safety precautions and made me feel very comfortable. Extremely professional, and most important of all, detail-oriented. They charged $450 for something costing about $20. It tooks months to get here. And it failed in a few weeks. Then they said they wanted to charge me again!
