We worked with Mauricio who's based at the UES office. He was authentic, professional, and very easy to work with. He's also knowledgable about fabrics and trends and invited us to the UES showroom to explore more after his free consultation at our apartment. When the fabric we chose was out of stock, Mauricio offered us a higher value fabric at the same cost. The drapes were done promptly and we received an email to schedule a time. Getting the COI from NY City Blinds was also straightforward. We are super happy with the result - pinch pleated drapes with tie-backs which look really elegant on our bay window. The installers were professional and polite, and the customer service (pre, during, and post) was excellent. I wanted a simple motorized shade for our bedroom. measurement went easy, shade was ready quickly, installer was polite. After all the time and stress over the installation of our motorized shade the owner, Guy finally called. He had two purposes for his call. First to attempt to fix the problems we had and second to ask me to take down my poor review. After a week of inaction and stress I wasn't willing to allow them to make and install a new shade. I had spent a week trying to get them to respond to my calls and make the installation good/right. Laor, did return most of my phone calls. "Customer Service" was anything but helpful. Promises, messages went unanswered and in fact the woman I spoke to a number of times began hanging up on me! Guy asked what I wanted, a full refund! To his credit he did offer a full refund. His second purpose was for me to take down my review of his company. My original review was honest, factual and without any emotional comments or name calling. It left the reader to make their own decision about NY City Blinds. I felt it was a fair, though poor review. The evening of Guy's call he did refund our full cost. I had agreed to leave the shade with my doorman for him to have picked up, once replacements were installed. So, my reponse to Guy's request to take down my negative review is this replacement review: The NY City Blinds two employees that worked with me - Laor, who measured my window and the installer (sorry, I forgot your name) were both polite and actually enjoyable to work with. Guy, the owner was polite, professional and did go out of his way to make me a happy customer. This is New York City and it comes with a host of confounding problems. Manhattan alone is larger than almost every other city in the country! It's crowded. People generally are extremely demanding. There are dozens of choices for EVERYTHNG within blocks of your apartment (home). There is an extremely high expectation for quality. Price, surprisingly given the general wealth of New Yorkers, remains a strong selling point. New Yorkers want the very best products and the very lowest price! It's a tough place to make a business work. It's a tough place to live. Everybody that has a business in New York "is the best" so it's hard to evaluate and select a business that will provide a good service and product and charge a reasonable price. NY City Blinds changed my feelings about their people (except Customer Service - Guy take note!). Guy did try hard to make me a happy customer. I will give his a lot of credit for this. The best I can do is give them two stars for the installation. Guy gets 4 stars. He went beyond what I expect. I do expect Customer Service to improve. The negative review is down. I initially reached out in July to have two broken blinds replaced. Now, it's November 21st, and it's finally done. The original production took the expected amount of time, but during the first installation appointment, they discovered they had the wrong size for one of them. They had come to my apartment to take all their measurements, so I don't understand how this happened. Back to production went the blinds. Weeks later, when the second installation appointment arrived, they realized they were missing some of the necessary pieces. During the third appointment, they finally resolved everything. Throughout this process, appointments were repeatedly rescheduled due to their poor planning, and in total, I had to take off six afternoons from work, although this should have been completed in two. The payment was 75% upfront, with the final 25% due upon completion. After the second failed installation, I asked about discounts or make-goods. They said they would discuss it with management, and at my final appointment, the installer wanted me to pay the remaining balance on the spot. I mentioned my conversations with management, and they called them on speakerphone there. They said they rejected the request for a discount, but after I asked them to reconsider, they deducted $79 from the total of $1917 for the service. For the unnecessary hours lost and their consistent errors, this discount feels insulting. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It has been a headache. read more

Horrible experience. After NY City Blinds did a very substandard job providing and installing shades in one of our West Village condos, we made numerous requests to them to stand behind their warrantee and make it right. NY City Blinds was totally unresponsive and always had an excuse for not following up, so I finally posted an accurate but negative review of our experience. Only then did NY City Blinds finally become responsive, promising to come look at the issues and correct them, but all the while also insisting that the post be removed, which I thought would be an acceptable resolution if they were fixing the problem. NY City Blinds then went to the property and met with my daughter who was there at the time, but the man quickly stated that nothing could be done to correct the issues with the shades, and then turned to pressuring my daughter to make sure the negative review was removed. She reported feeling intimidated and uncomfortable during the interaction, so to forestall any more harassment I went ahead and removed my review. Afterwards I read a private message the owner had sent to me, in which he made a direct threat if a negative review reappeared. So this is my updated review. The blinds are still terrible and do not work for the purpose for which a significant sum was paid. The customer service and follow up has now become the very worst I have ever encountered. The big question, however, is not a simple one of price or service. It is a question of whether this is a company that any customer would want to engage with for services of any kind, much less services inside the home. For me the answer is obvious. read more

Very unprofessional!!! I called on Thursday Sept 24th to make an appointment to fix some blinds already installed in my new lease. They promptly mafe me an appointment for next day, Friday, Sep 25th 3 to 5pm, and told me that the first visit had a cost of $350, expensive but they seemed professional on their website, and they needed 50% upfront. The charge ended up being $197usd bc of a 3% extra for credit annoying but ok I thought it would guarantee a good service. Then Friday arrived 3pm, 4pm, 5pm... Nobody, I called again, of course they close at 4pm on Fridays, voicemail: "leave a message". I left an angry message, somebody call me "we are calling you next week to rearrange your visit, bye" No care of my time. I called yesterday, Monday, no answer, voicemail again!! Highly recommend! They had the best prices of the places I looked on the UES, they came to install the blinds within the time promised and the installation guys were very professional. We got the motorized black-out blinds in all our rooms and they're really quiet and truly black out most of the sun. We also paid for the phone app to control the blinds from our phone. Our apt is big so the phone app doesn't work well in all the rooms and when I told Tom he immediately ordered us a "repeater" hub free of charge so it would work in all the rooms. The overall experience was tedious. After waiting 4 weeks to get the shades installed they forgot the end caps which we ordered. Then had to wait another 4 weeks for someone to come and install the end caps, after following up several times. However 2 of the 4 end caps were really sloppily made, they were meant to be wrapped with the same fabric as the shades so it looks more seamless but I could still see the plastic underneath it. When I get things installed I expect them to be perfect. So I called them and they were clearly frustrated and hung up on me after they said that they would replace them. On the positive side, the actual blinds that were installed in my apartment are wonderful. On the downside, the entire customer service experience, was horrendous. I reached out to NYC Blinds and spoke with Leo who scheduled one of their consultants, Roei, to come out to my place. I bought a pair of blinds the day he came out but I then did not hear from anyone for a month and I had to follow up with the company myself to find out if the blinds had come in. When I reached out to Leo and Roei, Leo sent multiple emails asking me not to email him, which is odd, given they all work for the same company. Once I spoke to Roei, the blinds had miraculously come in but then I had to wait another 2 weeks for them to install them. After getting the first set installed, I wanted to do the rest of my windows. I scheduled another consultation but Roei, the consultant, missed the appointment so I just went ahead and ordered the blinds without a consolation. A month passed and when the installers came, the blinds were the incorrect size (it was the manufacture's fault, not mine). The company did nothing to make up for this and I had to wait another 2 weeks to get the correct blinds. Blinds are not cheap and the experience dealing with NY City Blinds was too complicated. I would not recommend them to any of my colleagues or co-op neighbors. read more

The installers messed up every shade. 16 shades had problems not to mention that most of them did not fit correctly. After coming back a second time, the installers left finger prints on every wall they touched and spare screws all of the place and most of the shades still looked horrible. NYC Blinds did offer to come back a third time but being a NYC Contractor for over 40 years, I knew I was dealing with and excepted that i was being ripped off by sub-par contractors and decided to run as fast as i could. Found the same blinds at Home Depot for literally less than one fifth of the price I was quoted by these scammers in an uncomfortably pushy pitch. We ended up saving over $6,000 in doing so (We don't even have that many windows). They're either incompetent, or are shameless about having a 500% markup. ****UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW**** Within hours of posting this yesterday, I received an email from the owner apologizing for the inconvenience and a promise to fix it. His team came today (Wed 6/10) to finish the job. He also called me both prior to, and after the team visited, again apologizing for the inconvenience and delays. The team showed up as promised and finished. Thank you Zvi for helping to get this done, the work is now complete and the blinds look great! For that reason I've changed the one star rating to four. ************************************************************************* I'm writing this hoping I will get a response from someone at NY City Blinds that can actually help me get what I paid for.....Here's my story so far: -We selected NY City Blinds to install solar shades in our new apt in April. -We agreed on an installation date of May 6th. The crew showed up as scheduled and began installing. I quickly noticed that all the chains were plastic. Not as we agreed. We ordered metal chains in all but two rooms. When I mentioned this to the installer, he seemed a little agitated with me and then proceeded to try and convince me the plastic chains were much stronger and better than the metal. I thanked him and said I'd like to stick with what I ordered. He said fine, but he didn't have them and would have to come back to re-install. OK, easy enough. We'll set up a new time. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. I noticed the installers shouting loudly in another language at each other, and running in and out of the apartment. (I won't even get into the unprofessionalism of the installers). One of them finally came up to me and said they didn't have the correct "clutches" to cover the hardware. They had a mix match of grey and white and even then, didn't have enough of them to cover all the hardware. Again, would have to come back to finish later. OK. Finally, after all the shades were installed, they pointed out that one panel in the bedroom was cut to short, about 12" too short, so it didn't even cover the entire window! Again, have to re-order and come back. Annoyed, but ok, these things happen. Don't worry, I was told, this will all be taken care of by next week, or week after AT THE LATEST. Fast forward to today (June 9th), FOUR WEEKS later. NOTHING has been completed. I only get the run around, when I ask for an update. I finally gave them an ultimatum last week. This has lasted too long and I wanted it complete this week. So, they promised it would be done by today (June 9th). I stayed home from work, only to get an email rescheduling for tomorrow (June 10th). Then two hours later, canceling for tomorrow. "We don't have all the parts, sorry, We'll let you know when we can reschedule"...... So, here I am, giving my first 1 Star review, hoping I will get the attention of someone, anyone at NY City Blinds that can help. And if not, at least future customers will be fair warned what your getting into......Your move, NY City Blinds..... read more

I had a really great experience using NY City Blinds! I just moved into a new apartment that had several windows and I wanted to find something that looked nice but didn't cost a fortune! They came over quickly for a consultation and we discussed several options. The designer made really fantastic recommendations and worked with me to keep it within my budget. It took about 4 weeks to get the blinds in and schedule installation. Gierson came over and installed all the blinds quickly and his work looks amazing!! I was super impressed with how easy he made it look. He also went above and beyond and helped me hang 2 curtain rods that I bought on the side. That really helped me out! I'm really impressed with how everything came out. The company was very professional throughout the entire process. The blinds come with a warranty as well incase any repairs are needed in the next few years. Extra bonus!! read more
