Good wings. There's a lot of different choices of flavor. Good customer service as well.

Located in…read morea strip mall at the corner of 107 & Hempstead Turnpike Jackie Reilly's is the quintessential neighborhood Irish pub. Good size bar, big dining room with some very comfy booths (bonus for a big guy like me) and a menu that's not too expansive but runs the gamut of standard pub far. Beer was cold & definitely fresh which is always a plus. Baked clams were hot and quite tasty - some people don't care for the chopped variety but I actually like them this way and they were very flavorful. Wing cravings were one of the main reasons I came - having seen a good review from The Wing Scout I gave them a go since I was in the area. Opted for the medium and the Thai Chili. The flavor was there, they were indeed crispy on the outside, but the internal cook was very inconsistent. Some were insanely dry, others perfectly juicy. It's a shame because the sauces were quite good but getting them with a mouthful of dry chicken took away from the experience as did not knowing what was to come on the next one. Maybe it's a day shift thing, who knows. I'd probaby give them another chance at a busier time to see if they can bring their A game or if the high mark wings were just for the social media exposure.

Hawaiian Kitchen, based in Bethpage, absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the start, they were incredibly easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I had originally requested 2-liter bottles of soda, but since they didn't have them in stock, they proactively delivered individual cans instead to ensure our team had plenty of drinks. Now, for the food--it was phenomenal. Our office hasn't stopped raving about it! The Coconut Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp were huge hits, and the Angus Steak was incredibly tender. Even the Chicken Fried Rice was a standout, and all of their signature sauces were delicious. They also did a large house salad for us with the most incredible Ginger dressing. I had numerous people ask me where I found them, and I couldn't wait to order for their next small house parties or to pick up dinner on the way home. It was all so fresh and not greasy. We also ordered spring rolls that were so light and crispy, pineapple fried rice that was really delicious, and marinated chicken and steamed broccoli. If you're looking for reliable catering that people will actually get excited about, I can't recommend Hawaiian Kitchen enough. THANK YOU for making me look like a superstar! We will definitely be ordering again! PS - they are a small, family-owned business, and I love supporting businesses like that that really care. Give them a try!

Tonight was probably my 8th time at Sal's place. No complaints at all for the first seven. But…read moretonight, (August 27th, 2026) I need to let potential diners know what happened. Part of a group of 6, I ordered the pork chop. As I ate the dish I noticed a faint "off" taste. But it's covered in mushroom gravy so I ate 2/3rds of it before I noticed that it was really off closer to the bone. I asked my wife to smell it and she recoiled. I told the waitress and she said she'd tell the manager. Later she brings the check and I asked what the manager said. "Oh, he said he would come see you". He never did (why?), so she went to get him. I asked if he smelled it and he said yes, but it only smelled a "little off". Are you serious? Then, get this: he said "I noticed that you ate nearly all of it". True , but there was no denying that it smelled bad. He did apologize (half heartedly) but as I'd eaten much of it, he said there was nothing he could do...if only I'd have mentioned it earlier. He was supercilious and dismissive after serving bad pork. I didn't ask for anything, I just think the kitchen needs to know when a food quality or freshness issue happens. As a result, Sal's is off my list and will be off the list of my friends, family and anyone who asks. What a waste of an opportunity. If he had done the right thing, I would feel differently. Take a pass on Sal's. At least until they fix the manager problem and occasional food problem.
