Staffs are friendly and polite. Been in this salon long time ago and it's good to be back. The head staff is still the same and was able to recognize me. Been going here for my foot spa plus their massage are relaxing plus they're really good with that. Place is neat and clean. Walk ins are welcome but you really have to be early because the place gets packed fast. Their price is quite high. But what can we do, everything is going up and up. Here's a clean, firm version that hits the point without sounding emotional or messy: I have been a loyal customer of NY Nails for over 20 years. Yesterday, I brought my two younger daughters in for pedicures as a treat. I clearly requested a regular pedicure with gel polish, which I was told would be $35 plus $15 for gel. While I stepped away briefly, the technician had my daughters choose regular polish instead of gel. When I returned, they were already seated and the service had started, so I did not realize the mistake until the end. When I asked about it, I was told they used regular polish because I said "regular pedicure." I was referring to the type of pedicure service, not the polish, as there are multiple upgraded pedicure packages. By the next morning, both pedicures were smudged. I returned and offered to pay the additional $15 per child to have gel applied, and they refused. After 20 years as a customer, this was disappointing. The lack of flexibility and customer care was frustrating. It felt more focused on charging for every detail than taking care of a long-time client. I will not be returning. read more

I went in last night at 7pm for a gel manicure. The last time I visited (2 weeks ago) I had a decent experience, my nails looked nice. But last night, OMG. I was given to a women who didnt speak a lick of English. I picked my color, but was rushed to the chair. I understand it's late, but I want a color I'm happy with! I didn't have time to get the sparkle polish to go over my color. Last visit the girl got me the perfect sparkles and we called it a day. Let me just tell you this nightmare. I have natural nails. Only gel polish. I am trying to grow them because they were doing awful because they were grinded with that machine down to paper thin, and I could only wear nailtiques to try and revive them. I've been growing them out for about a year with only Esse polish, and keeping them short. So begins my journey to try and grow them again. Last week being my first visit for gel in over a year. I choose NY Nails to be my salon of choice. It's $35 for a gel manicure. Back to last night's visit. The woman soaks off my previous gel polish, scraping it off very heavy handed and borderline painful. I keep my mouth shut. I did flinch and say "ow" once. She just nodded. Then she said something... I only assumed based on the stage we were on the manicure, she may have been asking whether I wanted them cut, or filed, and what shape. So I just say, filed and square. Another girl working there confirmed she did ask me what I thought. Again, it had literally no resemblance to any words I even know in the English language, or even when I turn on my accent ear. I had nothing. I normally do pretty good. Anyway, she begins filing aggressively my natural nails on the tops. I'm thinking I should say stop, but maybe she sees something I dont? I just said I think my nails will be ok with one filing, I hope. After all of the aggressive prep, comes the polish. First the clear nail base. After which I said, should I go get the glitter polish? She smiles and nods and points at a bottle on her table. I figured she didn't understand me. She then puts on one, then two coats of the pink. I then say, now the glitter? She says "one more" (which I crazily understood), and I said ok, if you think it needs it. I said then the glitter? And she smiled and nodded. Then she finishes with all the pink, and grabs the bottle she keeps pointing to. Only to find that it's clear. She puts it on my pinky... that's when I say "I guess I'm not getting glitter today?" She ignored me all together. I said it again, "No glitter?" She ignored me again, kept polishing and digging her fingernail into the sides of my nail to clear any overflow. Then it was over. She started putting lotion on my arms and hands. At this point I felt defeated. She got up to go somewhere in the back, when I got up and decided to look for glitter myself. I went to find it, and there she was all of a sudden standing next to me, smiling... I said slowly "GLITTER" "You forgot about the glitter!" "I wanted glitter". She then says "sorry" and giggles. Then we try to find an appropriate glitter. Mind you, there is already one extra layer of polish over the norm on my nails. We find a suitable glitter. She was good with one coat, and I said "one more" this time, because you could hardly see it. What's the point at that point? She does the 2 coats... Now it's about 8:10 p.m. and the place closes at 8:00 p.m. She's rushing and probably flustered from the young woman standing over inspecting her work and digging her nail into the sides of my nail trying to remove the overflow. Which is pretty bad at this point. So, after 2 glitter coats, now another top coat. So, my nails have a base coat, 3 coats of color, a top coat, two coats of glitter and another top coat for good measure. 8 coats of gel polish, I look like I have wavy nails now. So ugly. Ok if you see them from far away, but upon a closer look, it's alot of "oh's". Yeah. So being as I had to use the ATM and pay almost $4.00 for the transaction fee, and not allowed to take out $50, instead have to take out $60, and getting only $5 back from the $40... They weren't interested in giving me change, so basically forced the $10 out of me for a tip. I love tipping when tipping is earned. When the manicure is amazing and I'm happy. But when it's really bad and looks like the top of a humpback whale, I should've gotten the whole thing for FREE. If I return here, because I do love their pedicures, I will make darn sure that I do NOT ever get this woman to touch me ever again. When you walk in, she sits in the first row to the left, the first table towards the middle (not against the wall). If I had to guess, I'd say she was in her late 60's or 70's. Be warned. Mani/pedi today was great! Nail Techs are very polite, well trained, and did a great job! The massage during my pedicure and while my nails were drying was so relaxing and pleasant! I used to come here all the time when I lived in town, and it's still worth driving back here from where I live now. Can't get the same experience in any of the local salons in my area. Normal salon, they were able to fit me in for a pedicure on a Saturday late morning early afternoon. I got the lemon citrus pedicure I asked how much it was and it was the same when they checked me out. Also got an additional massage which was great. read more

where do i start! if i can give negative stars i would. first walking in everyone is staring as if they have never seem african american people beofre, second the person who did my nails was so rough and rude.... then my boyfriend paid extra for better service which included a massage and callus treatment removal (he did not get this) he received the sale services as my bestfriend and i. lastly they demand you to top them. i always tip but honestly the work they provided and the environment/ lack of professionalism i do not think they deserve a tip. my nails chipped minutes after and the polish smudged. i do not usually write reviews but i would never recommend this place not even to my worse enemy! when it eas time to pay this is how the conversation went: the worker "how you pay" me: "hand her my card" the worker: "how much tip" (while holding my card) me: "no tip" the worker: while still standing near me holding my card "cash or card tip?" me: "i dony want to give a tip service was bad" (she stood there for a while my bestfriend and i stared at each other)... i then said card "$5"! my bestfriend had similar conversation, only difference was they asked her how much she tipping and she said she wasn't and rhey stil waited til she said cash or card tip. read more

After reading the reviews, it seems like people are expecting five star spa quality service for a less than $15 manicure. For the amount of money you're paying, you get more than your money's worth (in my experience). Came here for a mani & pedi on a Thursday and was able to be seated rather quickly. Picked out a color and was greeted warmly by my technician. Did she ask if I wanted to upgrade to a spa pedicure? Absolutely. That's something I've come to expect no matter where I go (being upsold) and I ended up opting for the $45 spa mani/pedi deal. Probably the best decision I could've made considering the amount of time, care and precision she put into my services. I highly recommend spending the extra $10. All of the equipment was clean. The staff was friendly, the inside was clean, tools sterilized and they have dividers between each customer as well as the manicurist. It was clear the girl had no idea what she was doing sitting filing my nails for 40 Minutes and then gluing her hand to my hand and other workers having to separate our hands. Easily the worst mani/pedi I have ever had. Should have ran in the beginning when the woman tried 3x to upsell me to a spa pedicure. I had keep saying no until she continued. The woman I had was extremely rough and cut my fingers twice when giving a manicure. I didn't like that a new set of tools were not used for each person but instead old dull equipment that has been sterilized was used. Nails were sloppily done and chipping by end of first day. WORST PEDICURE EVER!!! Do not waste your money!!! No one speaks English they use cold water the chairs are broken and nasty. About five minutes in the lady pulled off the little jest thing and it opened up--FULL OF MOLD!! I'm so grossed out it was disgusting. The paint job is atrocious. Looks like a three year old did it. The more I asked to fix it the worse they got. I tried to be nice but seriously the more understanding I was the worse she got!!! My kindness is done. They need to be shut down for health violations. I went to this place for a brazilian wax because I knew my one friend had gotten them done before here and it was THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Not only did they double dip (which you should never do) but when she pulled the wax strip off she didn't hold down my skin which made it so much more painful. I was having a really hard time during the whole thing and my waxer even made a comment to me saying, "You're not going to be a baby and cry, are you?" Then in the middle of my wax she stopped and said, "okay that's enough" and she refused to finish. I was appauled at how unprofessional she was and how unsanitary the waxing conditions were and I hope nobody else has to go through what I did with this place. I've visited this nail spa twice for a pedicure and while the pedicure was fine, the service is truly terrible. Both times I had an appointment and waited over 40 minutes... I think they just say yes to appointments but it means nothing. Then, the first time they said "what kind of pedicure" I said "the most basic pedicure" - which according to their menu is $30. She ended up giving me a $40 pedicure which was very nice and while I thought the price change was a little odd, it was a really good pedicure. So, I go today and I say I want the "spa pedicure" (the $40 offering). They say oh it has different choices mango, lavender blah blah, I said lavender. I go to check out and she charges me $50!! Now, I'm annoyed and I clearly say I said "spa pedicure, the menu says $40" - they would not budge on the price. I spent over 2 hours there between the wait and the pedicure and frankly found the experience truly just dishonest. I asked to speak to the manager, which did not happen; she kept saying "we have different levels of pedicures" and I said yes, that's why I said "spa pedicure" - the menu literally says spa pedicure $40. Been going there since 2014. Today was my last time ! Cash and carry, filthy dirty and annoyed that the 3 people were even in the shop. The place use to be packed. Many of the manicurists are very good, but unfortunately today I had one woman who is absolutely terrible. Lumpy polish application, uneven nail filing/crooked shape, ripped at my cuticles until they bled. My sister got to the salon around 10 minutes before me, and my manicure was finished 5 minutes before hers, so the woman just couldn't be bothered to take the time to do a halfway decent job. My nails look like a 6 year old did them, and it's my bachelorette party tonight. I could have done a much better job myself. Luckily it will be dark. Just shameful. If anyone wants to avoid a terrible manicure, she is the woman who wears oval coral earrings with gold detailing. read more

This place is great for pedicures and basic manicures, even gel manicures. They don't do gel pedicures. The ladies are super nice who work there. The only thing I would suggest, is don't go there for acrylics. I've tried it a couple times there and it's just not their specialty. They tend to be very thick and bulky and they soak them off which I find to be very dangerous because they've used a manual file after that on me before and gone straight down to my nail bed and made me bleed. Like I said, they're great for basic manicures, gel manicures, and pedicures. But steer away from acrylics and go somewhere else for that. read more
