So glad to have my Sunday staple! Always a pleasure to listen to the upbeat music and get my caffeine fix. The flavored coffees are all great, and the portion sizes are great. The service is always pleasant, and there's really nothing to complain about! My only note is that the iced coffee is better than the hot coffee, in my opinion. But that all comes down to taste. But I somehow spent $9 on a peppermint mocha which is wild even for New York... would definitely go back if it wasn't for the pricing. This is a coffee stop I like to make when I exit the #2,3 station in the morning. The service is great and friendly. You can shut your MP3 player while waiting on line because they always have 70s rock & roll music playing. Yes, the line does get long (+5 people) if you are not early but people seen friendlier on this line than the Starbuck line (+10 people and many do not look like they need more caffeine!). read more

I have LOVED the Love Truck for almost two decades, even back when it was the Mud Truck and they had a truck on Wall Street. I hadn't been in a while. Today I was at the American Museum of Natural History and bought my three drinks: a drip coffee, an iced coffee with milk and an oatmilk with Chai. I should have specified the size and should have asked the price. The guy gave me three large drinks that somehow cost my $23. The I had coffee was delicious. But three drinks at that price is outrageous and left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Good concept; poor execution. I saw this truck parked on Broadway, on the East side of the corner with 14th St./Union Sq. S, next to a kebab cart. It was clearly trying to imitate The Mud Truck with its bright orange colouring and virtually identical font, and in fact, at first I thought it WAS The Mud Truck. But no, it was a different mobile caffeine dealer, one that according to the barista often parks at 6th and 14th, and somewhere else I forgot. The prices are surprisingly low, and the service was friendly and fast, but the coffee was disappointing. It wasn't terrible - I did drink it all - but I wouldn't get it again. Their sign boasted the "LoveCappuccino' ('lil = $2.25) with 'lots of foam, little milk' and instead I got 'lots of milk, little foam' - and meagre, flimsy foam made of large bubbles which dissipated immediately upon contact with my mouth. WTF is it with this city and these capppuccinos-cum-lattes? I am going to MURDER the next person who serves me an overmilked, foam-deprived monstrosity instead of a proper cappuccino. Okay, so, too much milk, not enough foam, and the espresso wasn't very good, and rather distinctly un-espresso-like. In fact, based on what I saw occurring behind the counter, it may have even just been COFFEE, and not actually espresso. Can you imagine? I guess it explains the low prices, but I'm still aghast they would pull such a stunt. Oh - and they do not offer any sort of edibles beyond drinks. Sigh. Avoid The Love Truck, and stick to The Mud Truck for your caffeine needs. read more

Yes I know I'm reviewing the Love Truck again but this place is a multiple orgasmic delight for a coffee lover like me. I had the iced red eye (coffee with a shot of espresso). Delicious and not bitter. The guy making the coffee was new and he gave me the wrong coffee and apologized profusely. He quickly made me another and apologized again. I've passed this cute truck many times and have long been curious about it, and I finally got the chance to try it yesterday. Sixties music was blaring as a hip barista served a decent sized line of Wall Streeters their caffeinated concoctions of choice. Since yesterday was sweltering, I focused on the iced menu, which is extensive, and opted for an iced vanilla latte, which was very strong and not overly sweet. Lucky for me, the owner of Love Truck was working this morning since all his employees called out sick. He was extremely jovial and generous ... and it was 6:30 in the morning! Cold day + hot coffee from a cart. Perfection. I strolled down William street from work and turned on wall Street and boom - I first saw Mister Softee (need to try but not on this cold day) and then saw the red truck and was giddy with excitement. No line at about 1 pm (my mid day coffee run). I decided on a whole lotta size of hazelnut and mocha. It came out quickly before I can even give my cash of $4. So 16 ounce for $4 for a flavored coffee. Not too bad but not something I would get everyday. Coffee was great. My only complaint (which is probably my own fault) was that it was too sweet. However, I did choose a drink with 2 flavors! I will come back to get more coffee from this spot! read more

Each morning, I approach the same lanky, long-haired guy that looks like Howard Stern and I give him a dollar for a little love. He's always glad to give me a little love and equally content to take my dollar. Sometimes, I wonder to myself why I don't just continue on down the street and get a little love for free in the office kitchen. The answer is simple: it's not love. It's merely mechanical, a simple short-term gratification of a physical craving. There's no feeling, and a lot of times it's just plain lousy. Love isn't free, despite what they say. Well the moment I sipped on Love Truck's chai zing I wanted to burst into song because it really did put a zing in my heartstrings. And now I'm convinced the drink is named after the trolley song... I really do love this truck, no pun intended. The coffee is not too strong which I personally like, and it's certainly not as watered down as starbucks'. For me, Love Truck has the right amount of kick especially in their iced coffee or macchiato. If you need milk & sugar, they add a perfect amount of each for you. The coffee here is really fantastic, so I (and my colleagues) have put up with some pretty horrendous customer service (from one barista in particular). Since we discovered the truck on Wall Street in October or November, we have made twice daily trips for the whole office. Today the rude quips and unprofessional demeanor of the barista have crossed a line and made the coffee no longer worth the wait. They do not have sleeves, so you will often burn your hands (or have to waste a second cup to use as a buffer). Today, my coffees were scalding, but because of my fingerless gloves, I didn't register the heat until I was far enough away from the truck to return and ask for the buffer cup. Constantly re-positioning the cup's contact with my skin, I made it just to the front door of my office before spilling my coffee. When I returned with my empty cup I ordered another and explained the reason for the spill. The barista thought I was asking for a free replacement - which I definitely hoped for given the incompetence of the company's dealing with hot beverages, but did not demand. Her response to my order was, "To be clear, you spilled the coffee - not me!" Instead of paying for another cup of coffee with attitude I walked away and vowed for the final time not to return. *She also became frustrated with some confused customers ahead of me and snapped at them, "Just tell me what the f*&k you want!" No one in my company will buy coffee from her again. read more

I used to be a loyal Starbucks customer, occasionally flirting with Greggory's or Oran's - but then I found the Love Truck. Ever since, I've been hooked. It's a common belief that the 1984 Miracle on Ice, when team USA overcame the Soviet champions, was a product of iron will & dedication - when in reality they just drank some of this coffee. When Earth was facing imminent doom at the hands of the evil Transformer Megatron, it's widely accepted that Optimus Prime saved us with his heroism, when actually it was the Love Truck that transformed into a mighty robot to save humanity. In the final round of Rockey III when Rockey defeated Mr. T - what they didn't show was him drinking a cup of Love Truck drip which gave him the might to overcome his enemy. Trust me - this shit's dank AF. The staff are also super chill, play relaxing music, and are genuinely funny. Best coffee cart in NYC, hands down! Always get the drip coffee which is bold and strong. The small size is only $2 and it's equivalent to a medium sized coffee. Teddy is the main guy with coffee and they always greet you with smiles and happy energy in the morning. After you go there for a few times they know your name and they remember your order. They play music on their speakers as well. It's the best way to start your day! Also if you have a dog, they are very friendly and love it. They give my dog a treat every time! read more

The dude who runs this truck is AWESOME! Even though the coffee is pricey ($3 for a small iced coffee, $4 for a large, plus $0.50 for soy), the guy is so friendly and hysterical, it makes me wish he were closer to the village so I could go there more often! He seems sort of out-of-place, what with the hippy theme right in the middle of Wall St., but it works. He joked around with me (at starbucks I'm lucky to get a smile out of a barista), and made me WANT to spend that $3.50 on a small iced coffee with soy. He was so nice, he even gave me a large for the price of a small. If you hear rock'n'roll music blasting from a truck on Wall st., make sure you stop by and grab a drink! I've been searching for a truck that serves good coffee since moving to NY a few months ago, and this is it! Unlike most other $1 coffee truck stands, this one comes with steamed milk and a guy that wants to chat with you. I recommend any of their espresso drinks or just a hot cup of coffee. And yes, you can forget Starbucks. The only down side for me would be that they're only at Union Square during weekends. The rest of the week, they're on Wall St., which I don't go to often. It was cold, I wanted something warm to hold in my freezing hands. Food: I needed something to warm me, and coffee sounded good. Once I looked at the menu, everything looked good because it looked warm, but I settled on the peppermint hot chocolate. Sadly, it wasn't very good, tasted mostly like warm milk. Not even hot, and on such a cold day I wanted something scalding. It was more than lukewarm, but far less than burning. Think your coffee's temp after you forget about it for 20 minutes. Yeah, not what I wanted. Couldn't even really taste the peppermint. Venue: It's a truck that serves things. Not new in NYC, but don't be fooled, it looks a lot like Mud Truck, same color and all. Tell-tale sign: No music playing. I found it at Union Square after browsing the Holiday Market, and had I not been in dire need, probably wouldn't have stopped. The location's probably good for them, but I'm surprised the Mud Truck people haven't decided to hold a drag race for truck rights to the neighborhood--the Love Truck seems to be infringing on Mud's turf. read more

I am a coffee spoilt. I am used to brewing my gourmet coffee at home and take in my travel mug. On a few occasions when I am running late and dont have time to brew coffee at home, I'd stop by the Love Truck Coffee to get my daily kick of caffeine. The coffee at Love Truck is eh-ok. I don't like saying the word "latte" but I really like to drink them. I usually end up just saying "a couple shots with some milk," at which point the person says "a latte?" I nod and everybody is happy. The latte I had here today was fantastic; one of the better ones I have had so far in the city. These guys are great! The cappuccinos are (normally) real and not just lattes that you get from Starbucks. The line can be long, but they move fast. The Starbucks on Broad & Beaver is at least a 15 minute wait and they normally forget your order. So the best bet is to go with the truck ;) read more

I haven't tried their speciality beverages such as lattes or other espresso-based drinks (hence the three rating), but I did get an awesome cup of drip coffee! Once I try more things I can better rate this truck. I stopped here instead of the Starbucks near my internship since I like trying new coffee spots, and I was pleased. Pricing for a few items seemed high, but nothing I couldn't live with in regards to buying specialty espresso drinks. The staff was super friendly, and a 16 oz cup of coffee is only $2 flat! It's cheaper than the café at which I have worked for a long time. If you spot this truck I recommend giving it a shot (pun totally intended). read more
