The thing I have probably missed the most during this pandemic has been coffee shops. The simple joy of reading a book, tackling that last minute project on your laptop or having a mid day break with a friend is something I will NEVER take for granted again. I stopped by after my daily AM run and got there right as the shop was opening. I ordered my usual Iced Coffee with Sugar Free Flavored Syrup. The storefront is cute and the counter-person was friendly and helpful. The back of the shop looked like it had comfy couches and tables, making it a new spot for me to keep on my radar for future remote working. As a sucker for sugar free syrup, this place is great because they had about ten flavors, which is rare, apart from bigger chains like Starbucks. Nothing wrong with them, but I prefer to support locally and this will be a frequent future favorite.

I went to the location near the Steinway Street M/R station. The person making my iced latte was nice and friendly. The actual drink is a bit weaker than I like, and the size is too big but I probably should have specified that I wanted a 16oz size. Also, my drink had a hair in it. So I probably won't be visiting again in the future

Cute truck, great service! Coffee is good too! I know NYPD get their coffee here. Saw this truck outside the subway, got the coffee, great service, very friendly. Go check it out!

I was early to meet my husband for dinner in Astoria and looking to kill time when I encountered The Love Street Cafe. I usually only get tea, so I've developed the habit of asking "do you have a credit card limit" before I order, so I don't get caught unable to pay. The really sweet barista told me the cafe's philosophy is all about love so if I didn't have cash, I could just "pay next time". I think those kind of good karma business ethics are awesome! I'll def be back to pay for my cup and leave a nice tip! I sat in the spacious back garden area. Furniture was a bit dirty, and I couldn't find a free WiFi that seemed to belong to them, but since I was just there to kill time I didn't really mind! The prices are more affordable that other bougier coffee shops. My giant cup of tea was $3. (See photo)

A few years back, who would ever think that people will pay a lot of bucks for what is basically flavored water? Well, I am one of these people who are addicted to coffee so much that I've been invited to a new money-making venture- rehab for coffee addicts. :) I was out on a stroll when I spied the orange awning of NYC Love Street Coffee. As I walked in, the server greeted me and chatted me up. According to her, they just opened about three (3) weeks ago and that they do have a coffee truck in Manhattan. I like the fact that they roast their coffee beans in-house. Although she invited me to try the house brew and I did taste it, I decided on a cappuccino since it was still early in the morning . The cups are a lot bigger than the regular 8 oz and are priced at $3.00. The coffee was very robust and would probably not be appreciated by those who prefer a gentler blend. They also had some sweet baked goods but I reserved trying them for next time. Considering its proximity to the train station and the server's promise that they will have Wi-fi soon and that the backyard will be open, NYC Love Street Coffee is a welcome addition to the stretch of Steinway. And, if you feel like having an empanada with your coffee, Mama's Empanada is just across the street. :)

No matter how hard I try to give this place a chance to win me over, they always come up short when it comes to coffee. It literally baffles me that a coffee shop has terrible coffee. Coffee should need get taste like mud! The Turkey, Apple and cheese on wheat is good enough for me to be going back just for the sandwich. The muffins are also very good. Parked outside my office. Iced coffee was perfection. Now I'll have to follow them around like a groupie.

Let me begin by saying that I moved to Astoria in the leap year 2000, the year of the dreadful Y2K scare.

People have left some odd reviews of this place, including a one-star review for the restaurant…read moreapparently being highly politicized--a vibe I neither felt nor could visually identify within or without the establishment. I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

I have wanted to try this spot for some time, and wound up a bit disappointed with what I tried…read more They feature a tahini cold brew, which features two things I love dearly, but instead of a rich cold brew it was overly sweet and icy--more like a slushie. Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
