I had several great experiences with Alexia. However, last time she embarrassed me by insinuating she'd never been to my apartment and of course didn't have my keys (she had, I have an email record of her watching the cats in this apt). No big deal, I don't care about keys, just don't like being told I'm not accurate when I'm looking at proof. She says she must see my new place before watching them which is responsible and absolutely fine (even though I have pictures of her with the cats here!). I had offered to drop off her keys. She cancelled visiting the place 3x. She ended up having me toss the keys into her car while she waited at the curb the next morning. She purchased a NEW litter scoop Bc she claimed my repurposed kitchen scoop was somehow offensive or unusable. It's works the same. This took 10 texts back and forth with her claiming not to see a huge metal slotted spoon next to her tip and the food. I guess it was that offensive I don't use a plastic scoop? So she bought me something I don't use. I haven't used to sense. After all this I still wanted to thank her and did so and wrote and texted her. No response. My friends uses Alexis also and says she's becoming increasingly judgmental. read more

Extremely rude. I asked about a cat that looked awfully like a cat we took care of that went missing a few weeks back. When texting one of the employees they asked how the cat went missing. I explained that the cat was feral and we took care of it feeding it, providing shelter etc. Their response was "You don't let cats out EVER. You gambled and you lost." I have two cats, and one of them is ex-feral, and so he has some unusual peeing habits (he prefers to do his peeing on puppy pee pads!) This same cat also has some intestinal issues, and so he needs to have a different canned food from my other cat. Both cats also eat very quickly, and so their feedings have to be 'paced', with three portions given to them a few minutes apart. So my point is, my cat care requires a bit of regimen. After losing my prior cat sitter (whom I'd had for years and was the best!), I looked around on Yelp and decided to go with NYC Pet Nanny, and after an in-person meeting with Alexia at my home. She is very personable, and what I liked was that as I was talking her through the routine for my cats, at one point she seemed almost 'frustrated' with the detail I was giving her, and she then asked me more questions...so in other words, I got the strong sense that she wanted to be sure she was getting everything right. (Some other cat sitters might have just 'yes'd' me to death, and ignored all the detail I was giving them as 'overkill'. But I got the sense that Alexia really wanted to abide by any detail that I might give her.) During my week's holiday, she would text me now and then to let me know that my cats were doing well. I was happy to hear from her and know that she was keeping me updated on things, while at the same time her communication was not overkill. (It so happens I'm not a fan of pet sitters sending daily messages of 'I fed your cat, changed his litter, played with him', etc. I don't need such messages, as to me that should all be understood. ;-) ...and like most people, I have a hard enough time managing all the other texts/emails I receive each day.... I also asked Alexia if she could water my balcony plants while I was away (for an extra fee of course). She said she could do so, as long as I left her detailed instructions (which I did). And while Alexia admitted to not having a green thumb, I came home to find all my plants in great shape, which again signified that Alexia indeed follows whatever direction you give to her. I was actually more concerned about all my balcony plants (which are like my 'babies') than I was about my cats, but Alexia came through for me! I will surely use her services again! read more

We have used Alexia several times over the last year. Sometimes at short notice. We travel regularly and she is very thorough. Alexia came to our house to introduce herself and get to know Velcro before her first visit. She has always been very communicative, lets us know if there are any problems, which has not been often and she is also capable of solving those problems in the moment. I have been using NYC pet nanny dog walking services for a few months since moving to a new neighborhood and am very pleased. Alexia is professional, responds very quickly to emails, texts, and is flexible with our schedule. On several occasions I have called her in a bind asking if she would swing by and walk our dog and she has squeezed her in despite that fact that we may not have scheduled a walk for that day. That is a huge help to me. I also found her to be trustworthy and never had any doubts about letting her into our home while we are out. She is responsive to any requests that we have as far as what we need for our pup that day whether it's a long walk or taking her to play with others at the dog run. I initially found her on craigslist and have been pleasantly surprised.
