I've been using Bark Ave for a few months now and haven't been able to rave enough about it! They go so above and beyond and really care about your furbaby. I always get super fast responses through email so I'm comfortable knowing that they're readily available in case of an emergency. In case Rusty chewed up anything (he's 7 months old, you know how it goes) they helped clean it up and were totally transparent about it! They even replen his water bowl, etc. My Rusty always looks forward to his daily small group walks and I rest easy at work knowing that he's in great hands. The rates are also incredible- the quality for the amazing price ($12 for a small group walk, $22 for private!!) is unbeatable. 10/10 stars isn't enough!! read more

Used their services regularly for our rescue mutt for about a year (2021-22). At first, Carole the manager was very responsive and helpful over email and our dog seemed happy with the walker, Darrel. The service we agreed upon was for Darrel to walk our dog and then put out his food and fresh water for him before leaving. There were frequent problems-- small at first-- with following the instructions. Darrel would forget to refill the water dish or would not close the refrigerator after feeding the dog (the dog food is in there). Each time we communicated the problem to Carole, she would tell us she'd remind Darrel but the problems continued. Once or twice, Darrel left our apartment door unlocked after walking the dog and bringing him home (luckily nothing bad happened). The final straw was that Darrel forgot to feed the dog a couple of weeks ago. We reached out to Carole to address the issue, which to us represented an escalating pattern of inadequate care for our dog and disregard of our simple instructions. Her response was that she "didn't like the tone" of our email, said that feeding and not charging extra for it was "doing a favor"-- charging extra to feed the dog was never something that was mentioned to us AT ALL throughout the course of the year we were using their services-- and proceeded to say she would no longer work with us. No apology, no attempts to make things right-- just an unwillingness to take feedback and accept responsibility when something that jeopardized the well-being of our dog happened on their watch. We have moved on to another walking company and are much happier with their services and willingness to communicate. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of zero is because these mistakes didn't happen every time our dog was walked and there were some weeks throughout the year where everything went according to plan. Would very much recommend against using this small business since they don't take responsibility for their mistakes, don't respond effectively to requests to correct them, and simply terminate their working relationship when you point out flaws in their service. read more

LOVE BARK AVE! We rescued our Bernese Mountain dog about 4 months ago and needed a dog walker once a day around lunch time. I did my research and came across Bark Ave. Dillon contacted me right away and we set up a meet and greet so he could meet Ralphie :). He put Ralph in the schedule and put me in touch with Brian (I'll get to him in a little bit). I am a bit of a helicopter mom so I asked if I could receive texts everyday of how Ralph was on the walk- wasn't a problem at all! My boyfriend also has a bit of a flexible schedule so sometimes he is able to work from home, so as long as we let them know in a timely manner that we didn't need a walk- they were cool with it! Now to Brian- HES AMAZING! He would send me a text everyday with how Ralph was on the walk. If Ralph wasn't feeling well he would let me know how his energy levels are, or anything else I request (#1 and #2). Changing this to a one star after one day I was randomly told they can't help me anymore and would no longer be able to walk my dog. They also tried to charge me an extra $2 per day for the walker to text me once she was done. Since this company doesn't have an app like most others, the walker just leaves a hand note which you don't see until you get home. There's no peace of mind knowing your dog has been walked unless you pay $2. Ridiculous. Old fashioned and need to get with the times. Lastly, they charge ridiculous cancellation fees. I was a great customer that had a consistent walk 5 days a week and paid immediately, but god forbid I was home sick from work one day and didn't need a walk that day they'd still charge you the fee. Merle has been walking with Bark Ave for almost 3 years. What's great about Bark Ave is that they're all about quality over quantity. You'll see other walkers with hordes of dogs which, even for a trained professional, can be difficult to maintain control in a city with cars whizzing by left and right. I have comfort that Merle is being looked after and is safe while out and about with a select few dog friends. Bark Ave is very flexible and easy to get a hold of. Carole is super responsive, making scheduling a breeze. They're also very active on social media... so it's really easy to hop on to Instagram and get a peek of your dog out in the city. Upon moving to Manhattan earlier this year, I was particularly nervous about finding a loving, trustworthy dog walker for my 3YR old mini-goldendoodle each day during the week. If you're in the same boat, look no further: the Bark Ave team could not be nicer or more reliable. My walker, Barb, is always on time and leaves a note each time she visits. Huge thanks to Bark Ave for looking after our little one while we are away at work! We've been using Bark Ave since October 2011 and have been incredibly impressed with their treatment of our dog Chai. While the transition of moving to the city was difficult for our dog, Chris and his staff were able to provide a safe and nurturing environment that allowed her to ease into it. They go above and beyond the call of duty in last minute scenarios and are always looking out for Chai's well being. It's difficult to describe how amazing Chris (the owner of Bark Ave. Dog Walkers) is, but I'm going to do my best and try. The short version is... Chris is HANDS-DOWN THE BEST PET SITTER IN NYC! He is loving, affectionate, playful and has your dogs safety in mind at all times. He also has his own dog, and you can see how much he loves him, so you know that he understands that it's a family member and he goes above and beyond to make sure your dog is happy (in my case, Chris lets my pup sleep in his bed and cuddle up next to him, which is not the easiest, as my pup tends to dominate the bed and leave you with a little corner, so that was super comforting to know that Chris didn't mind). He has dog walkers and pet sitters across Manhattan, so if you're in need of the best care for your favorite pet - Bark Ave. Dog Walkers is the only place to call. The long versions is... Alex has been my dog walker for months now, and I couldn't be happier with the service Bark Ave provides. After reading their online reviews, I scheduled an initial intro meeting with Chris/Alex. Both of them were polite, kind, and thorough in their explanation of services. At first when Alex started, he sent me a text after every walk. When he stopped, I felt a little crazy asking him to continue doing so for all future walks, but he was more than happy to comply. He let's me know how the walk went, and if my pup happened to get into anything around the house while I was at work. He also always makes sure to refill my pup's water bowl after every walk. In addition, they post pictures on their Instagram page of all the dogs they walk, including those that are paired with your pup - which is reassuring when you're stuck at the office away from them. They also post pictures of the terrible dog-walkers they see handling 5+ dogs at once, which proves how committed they are to keeping a high standard even if that means taking on less business to give your dogs the best possible experience. Bark Avenue provides exceptional dog walking services. Both Dylan & Chris (though Dylan more frequently walked our little guy) are phenomenal: so nice, professional, friendly, and caring. It was such a comfort to actually know the person who was entering our apartment every day and spending so much time with our dog. Dylan was very understanding when we would cancel last minute, or, more challenging, make a last minute request for a walk. It was also nice to know that our dog was being given the attention he deserved, often being walked alone or with just one other dog from our building. i have used bark ave dog walkers services a few times when i was dog sitting for a family member and to be totally honest i was lazy to walk the bastard or i was busy doing something more important. they offer many services from walking , over night boarding , playdates with other dogs , etc. i have never been let down by this company, they pick up at the times i request , they have decent rates, the walkers are friendly and ask if the dog has any issues and my reply is always the same (dog needs to pee pee asap)lol. i will continue to use bark ave dog walkers when needed (me being lazy) and recommend them for dog walking or any of the many other services them offer. read more

We (my pup Charlie, and I) love Bark Ave! Charlie adores her walker, Barbara, who sends me a follow-up text, sometimes with cute description of the friends Charlie encounters, after every walk. It's the little things that count: she'll towel dry Charlie after a walk if it rains; turn on the light for her if it's dark; alert me if she sees anything odd about Charlie (a scratch, a stain on her bed). Only a few weeks after I adopted Charlie and signed her up with Bark Ave, she developed an eye infection that required a visit to the vet the next day. It was hard for me to take off that particular day, so I emailed Chris to see if Barbara could take Charlie to the vet, about a 10 minute walk from my apartment, for her "walk" that day. As a first time worried pup parent, I so, so appreciated that they were willing to accommodate my request. For the next few days after the vet while Charlie had her infection, Barbara would also wipe off Charlie's eyes after the walk per my request. Chris, and now Carole, are both awesome -- very friendly, understanding, and accommodating; it's always a breeze to modify Charlie's schedule. Just recently, I had a scatter-brained moment during which I botched up the latest payment, but Carole was very patient and understanding about it as we sorted it out. Chris has been walking my dog for about a month and I have not one complaint. Before moving here I was so nervous about finding a dog walker that was trust worthy...and who actually walked my dog. We have all passed those supposed dog walkers with 5+ dogs just standing around "walking" your dog. THIS is not the case for Chris. Your dogs safety is his first priority. When it is raining--he also makes sure you leave a towel out so that he can help dry your pooch off. Not many dog walkers would spend the additional time drying your dog off. My dog had an accident in the apartment one day and Chris actually cleaned it up for me. Taking on an 8 month old puppy by myself was a big decision, but I decided to give the poor, little, abandoned pup a shot when Chris, the owner of Bark Ave, made it clear that he would help me every step of the way. I was skeptical, but once I saw how much he cared about the dogs he watches, as well as his own, I knew both Jude and I could count on him. For over 2 months I have been able to call Chris day or night and ask for his help, advice or extra walks if I'm stuck at work late. He's very understanding and goes above and beyond to make sure his paying customer (myself) is just as happy as his actual customer. Jude gets super excited when he sees Chris around the neighborhood so I know they get along great. Plus, as a concerned, and sometimes painfully uninformed "single-mom", Chris sends me pictures of Jude playing and having fun on their walks as well as updates on how he's doing. I needed a dog walker unexpectedly and e-mailed people in a frenzy asking them to start the following day. Bark Ave's founder, Chris, was amazing and he came to meet our little pup that same night and began the next day. He treats her like his own and is always helping out wherever he can. He's been extremely accommodating and will change his schedule at the last minute for us when we need an hour instead of 30 min and visa versa. They will also take your dog to the dog-run sometimes, and other business charge an extra rate for this. I found Chris Turi by accident as my regular person was unavailable or booked up. The thing is I'm crazy about my dog I know everybody says that but to the point that she is most important to me. She doesn't like big places like biscuits and bath and has gotten kennel cough from them. I travel for business a lot and need someone that loves dogs as much as I do . Chris is that guy. Lucy needs to sleep in a bed she's not the dog bed type he lets her with him and she loves him and his dog. He is responsible thoughtful and a pleasure to do business with.
