This is my update to the original review I made 12/30/2022. Almost another year has passed and I still received no refund and I am once again, being ignored. Demetri ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO MY TEXTS JANUARY 23rd 2023. He claimed he was out of country. Again apologies and he seems to have admitted that he can no longer manage/keep up with iPodDoctor as it doesn't pay the bills and it's been hard to prioritize (I'm sorry for putting his business out there but it needs to be said as he is not communicating with anyone). He actually made me feel really bad for my review considering everything. We agreed that he would have 2 weeks to send the iPod before I expected a refund. On January 31st, he claimed he would send me the tracking number the next day and that it would be in the mail. You guessed it, it never happened. If you try calling his number, you'll find you can't even leave a voicemail as it's full and he has ignored every single one of my texts. As you can see, he has disabled messaging on Yelp as well. I have emailed BOTH emails I have for him and nothing. I send Zelle requests for refunds time and time again. All are being left to expire EXCEPT ONE which SHOWED ME he is ACTIVELY IGNORING ME. April 6th, 2023; he DECLINED my zelle request for a refund within minutes of me sending it. He knows what he's doing is wrong. But he continues to run away and ignore me. I have even tried settling for partial refunds of the 785$ as low as 400-500$ and still, nothing. That iPod was everything to me. EVERYTHING. And I have already settled for the fact that all I will ever have left are pictures from when I first received it. I'm heartbroken and I could only wish I still had the mailing address somewhere. I'm glad he's not taking jobs anymore... but he still needs to right all his wrongs. I feel so helpless in this situation. read more

My husband sent my iPod in to be fixed when the onsite memory upgrade by iPodDoctor caused problems. What a total disaster. He will not return our money or my iPod and we are out the value of the machine plus over $430 in cash. So we am out about $700 bucks which, try as we might, we cannot get back from him. We will take this up by legal means. We are so sick of the excuses and lies and being strung along. We just want the working machine back or our money back. It has been four months. From the other reviews, if all goes well, it's a good service I guess. But BE WARNED that when things don't go right, he doesn't respond honestly or in good faith. He just keeps promising you this or that: "I'll send it today," "I'll get to it next week," "I'll get back to you later today," "my text messages don't work this month," "I'll throw in an extra this or that." Enough already. Just send us the money or the working thing. It ends up amounting to theft. UPDATE: He created a label with a tracking number a week ago in response to the Yelp review my husband wrote so he would not leave it up. My husband took it down, but the post office says iPodDoctor still has not given them the item to ship a week after creating a label. I don't believe a word this man says anymore. It was not fixed and so we set up a second visit, again very late. He again claimed it was fixed and I paid a second time. I broke the glass of my IPhone on Tuesday and gave it to a local store in Brooklyn for repair. On Friday nothing was done yet, and I had to leave the next day. I took back my IPhone Friday late afternoon with not much hope to be able to do anything before leaving. I decided to call the IPod Doctor anyway. I was quiet surprised that he called me back almost immediately, and told me he could come the same day. Later he called again, he was in front of my building in his black car. It was like if a superhero arrived. The IPhone was repaired in 20 minutes. The price was the best I found. It was a great experience, and fun! I cannot believe this company exists! It was so easy and I didn't even have to leave my block! I cracked my screen and was looking to urgently get it fixed -- and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg at the Apple Store. I reached out to the iPod Doctor here on Yelp's messaging system and they answered within 15 minutes. We quickly setup a time for them to meet me outside my office and the replacement took no more than 10 minutes! The guy did it right in the front seat of his Ford Mustang! This guy is great. My ipod headphone jack was broken and after scowling youtube videos for do-it-yourself fixes to no success in fixing the issue, I began my search online to fix my ipod. Actually, I chose this guy because of the reviews on yelp, so I find it only fitting that I write a yelp review. The outcome is that my ipod is fixed!!! I made an appointment time with him about a week in advance. When I originally called to set up an appointment, I thought he'd give me one of those "I'll be there between 11:00am - 3:00pm" responses where basically you wind up waiting all day. But, he showed up on time and even parked right across from my building. It feels kinda sketchy, just handing your ipod over to some random guy in a minivan. But it was all legit. He fixed it in about 15 minutes. All in all, it set me back $70, which I didn't feel was too bad considering that I was about to buy a new ipod. There might be other places where you could get it done cheaper, I guess but I think it was worth it considering that he comes to you and does the work then and was fast. So I was referred to the iPod doctor by a coworker she told me the guy is super professional will fix my iPod or iPhone in no time. She showed me YouTube videos, Yelp 5 star reviews no one saying a bad thing. So I pulled the trigger asked for a quote seemed a little pricey compared to other places, but if he's that good and offers a year warranty on his repairs it must be worth it. DEAD WRONG!!!! I set a date for Demetri to replace my iPod classic battery and change the click wheel to red on 2/12 he came a little late understandable since it was snowing and hailing that day. So I give him my iPod and he tells me he's going to find a place to work and will cycle back in 20-30 minutes. An hour goes by and I text him if everything is okay. His response was ummmmmm yeah your screen broke he didn't text me because he was looking for a replacement screen but he didn't bring one. He claimed that he would put a temp screen in and would be back tomorrow to repair the screen. I paid him for the repair biggest mistake on my part giving this fraud the benefit of the doubt. So back to the story tomorrow came and he said he couldn't come long story short I have texted this man everyday since then and all I get is excuses he has other repairs to do, parent teacher conferences to go to, his car is iced in, he can come to the city unless he has another appointment. He told me multiple times that he was on the road and would text me when he was in the city. He NEVER texted me that he was in the city just more excuses and empty promises that he would be in a different day. We are now going on a week and my screen is still broken. I told him today to forget about it and I'm done dealing with him. Now he cares now he can't leave the repair like that he wants to meet at 2:00pm and the repair will take 10 minutes and in my head all I can think about is where was this when it mattered. Demetri strung me along for a week now and that I no longer want his services he wants to make things right. But the thing that bothers me the most is he never took personal responsibility for breaking the screen. He blames apple for the way the iPod is constructed and that the screen breaking when you open it up. If you want to use this guy proceed with caution. When he returns your device, inspect it if it doesn't meet your standards don't pay him hold him accountable for the repairs. My experience with this guy was the absolute worst, thanks for nothing Update 5/13/19 after reading the iPod doctors comments. So. Even though I look 21 (wink) Im not and I have a teenage daughter (15 years old) who is careless with her stuff and broke her iphone 4 in September (two months after she got it!! GRRRR). So, I decided to go grap a turkey burger and come back in 20 min (after I took a pic of his license plate). 20 min later I returned and my daughters phone, which I should tell you looked like it got hit with a bullett (you never know.. kids these days!!) was sparkly and new AND he charged it to make sure it was working. The glass on my iphone was broken, and I used a friends phone to look up the closest place to have it repaired. Came across all of these fantastic Yelp reviews and called to find out how much they would charge, where I had to go, and how long it would take. "He will come to you, wherever you are... I'll make an appointment and touch base with you in a few hours" Could this really be?? What a fantastic business! The roving iPhone repair guy. Several hours and several drinks later my friend and I were sitting at the bar and had a handful of side bets going whether or not the guy would actually show up and if he would just run off with the phone or actually repair it. Taxi back and forth takes time... subway is time... Not having to go to a shop and wait there and or or go back... Not having to wait in line at the apple store... invaluable! Then they throw a Yelp coupon in too!? Not bad. So... I won the side bet! Repair guy shows up. After taking my phone, and the patron next to me's phone. He disappeared for a while. I think I called the owner of the business a handful of times to see if he really was going to be back with my phone. We all had our doubts... I reminded him kindly that I had a handful of friends online who would feel cheated if I didn't report back if the guy took off and didn't come back. Suffice to say. He returned with a brand new looking phone, no cracked glass, and a nice little Dr. Check up revealed that all was okay on the inside. Think about it. You buy the coupon? the Dr is going to want to make sure you get good service. Because they know you're reading it on Yelp. So... you'll be treated well. Not a bad thing right?? We met near 14th street Union square...originally I only wanted to repair my Girlfriends 3G iPhone and broken glass...it had been messed with before by a tech (ex) friend who ended up screwing it up worse... but after meeting Dimitri we decided to repair my glass as well which wasn't as bad, but for the price he was charging us for everything I decided what the hell...do it all! He fixed my front and back glass in about 5 minutes.....But my girlfriend's phone was glitchy, like it would turn off or type the wrong things, it was basically all fucked up...so Dimitri had to open it up and then he discovered that this other tech dude had switched another version of the iPhone inside! This guy is SO great. I emailed and had a response within an hour or so. I called him and he met me outside my office in the most amazingly branded car I've ever seen. He took the iPod Touch, which had a broken headphone jack, and two days later drove back to my office and dropped it off. For $75, he fixed it and it's been great ever since. Without him, my only choice was to buy a new one at the Apple store (the genius bar said it was unfixable) for $199. I was hesitant at first, since Apple did tell me that if anyone else fixed it I'd lose the opportunity to purchase a new one for the discounted $199 price, but I'm so glad I went with the Ipod Doctor. I woke up one morning, plugged my headphones into my 160GB iPod Classic and heard sound coming out the left side only, an inconvenience I thought I left behind in the Sony Walkman/Koss Headphone era of the 80s and 90s. I'm really impressed. The battery on my iphone 3G wasn't holding a charge anymore, and I have been fearful of upgrading- can't lose my unlimited data plan! I've been crying for 3 months since I (accidentally, obviously) cracked my laptop display. I'm just now writing this 3-4 weeks later, because I wanted to wait awhile and make sure the phone had no problems afterwards, and it's been working great since! First off let me say that this guy spent more time with me on the phone than he actually did fixing my ipod touch. In terms of time alone, I got a good deal, not to mention that he was able to jailbreak my ipod touch while saving all of my information, for about $35 dollars. He is able to do things to your ipod that apple wouldn't do, and yet he is able to fix them to apple specs the way apple would do... minus the crazy expense that you would get at the apple store.... Expect to find a crowd around him wherever he goes, he picks up, receives mail-ins, and delivers pretty much all over New York City and the boroughs. I broke my iPhone 6 Plus screen on a Saturday evening. The local place where I normally have repairs done was closed until Monday and I really needed a quick turnaround time for the repair. I found Dimitri on Yelp. He had great reviews so I thought why not. Not only was he available to repair and replace the broken screen he actually came to my place to do the repair. Well, actually he does repair outside in his van which will put those people at ease anyway. I paid by credit card to which is a nice convenience and his pricing was much lower than if I had to replace the phone or have Apple repair it. It sucks to break your screen but when it does happen you want it repaired quickly! I have to say, I can now see why Demetri gets such positive reviews - he comes through and is a man of his word. Although it took some time, he ultimately delivered on what he promised. My beloved classic iPod of 160GB stopped working, and Demetri tried different things on it to no avail. But he didn't give up, as I'm sure most other places would. Instead, he exchanged it for an identical one, free of any data, so it was a clean slate for me to upload my music back on, and the "new" iPod works perfectly so far. Great experience, Demetri is awesome. I broke my 10 year old iPod and did not want to lose my music since I do not have iTunes. He came to my apartment on two hours notice, fixed the iPod, upgraded my other iPod then fixed my vintage 2009 iMac that the guy at the Apple store told me to buy a new one because parts are not available anymore. No more spinning wheels, I now have all 10,000 songs in I tunes and my iMac has new storage and runs much faster! I highly recommend the iPod Doctor! read more

Not sure what all the hub-bub is about. He was curt in his emails, tech was over an hour late to the appointment, and the work was shoddy. It's unfortunate Tekserve on 23rd is closing as that was a reliable, dependable, service. If the future of tech repair is this guy, that's a future I don't want a part of.
