My MBP battery (M1 Max chip, 2021) tapped out and I had it replaced a few days ago with these guys. They cleaned the clogged fan while at it. So far no issues. They are VERY expensive at $349 + tax, (use Zelle to avoid additional cc fees). While I'm not thrilled about the cost, I understand that they charge the ~$100+ premium given (apparently) OEM parts and speed of turnaround (I got my machine back in about 1.5h). That was worth it for me. FWIW I got a quote for $160 including tax and labor at another business in Queens (probably non OEM parts), $350 from another Apple authorized place in Manhattan but I'd have had to mail-in and turn around was estimated to be about 9 to 12 day. Apple itself was $249, they quoted 7 to 9 day turn-around. And that was after having to waste my time going in to the "genius" bar. These guys also have two convenient locations in Manhattan which I appreciated. So if I look at all that I the premium stings a little less. The work also seems solid. I liked their efficiency and style of communication, but quick turnaround and quality of service/parts was mainly what I paid for. read more

It's way too expensive just for diagnostic of my phone cost 179.43. I was told that they could fix the phone aside from the diagnostics. I was told that the cost to fix the phone is 325.22. After picking up. I was told that the camera is not working and that my phone has 50/50 chances of working. Just came home from doing a battery and screen replacement with them. Starting with the pricing which was was absurd: $326 for both. Right when I got the phone I could notice screen wasn't original. Then my phone had a message saying they were unable to identify if the battery was genuine. Battery fell from 51% to 36% in about 30min, it's literally worse than before. Also, I know some places pretend to do a battery replacement but just use a device that resets the battery health. I left my device there with 40% battery and then I come back 30min later and they hand me the device with 53% saying the battery was changed. I can't help but think they just charged the phone for 30min and reset the battery health. I'm feeling extremely upset because if I decided to spend $326 on a battery and screen replacement for an iPhone 14 is because I really didn't have the money to buy a new one, and having this results being delivered are extremely frustrating and disappointing, I really regret going to this store. I imagine they must be good doing laptop repairs because of all the good reviews, but definitely wouldn't recommend it for phone repair. I just burned $326. read more

I spilled a glass of liquid on my year-old Apple laptop, and the USB ports, keyboard and part of the monitor got soaked. Btw, my three-year Apple warranty does not cover spills, and my experience has been that Apple repairs are very expensive. Although the USB ports dried out and returned to functioning, the left side of my screen looked wavy and damaged and I was worried about interior corrosion. After 36 hours of debating, I took it to Techtronics in the afternoon and paid for rush service, as I was on a deadline. They ordered a new screen, and I was able to pick up the laptop at the end of the afternoon the next day. They told me that I had averted corrosion by not waiting longer. Communication was friendly, frank, and detailed; I was very happy about the efficiency and the result. The only downside, I realized later, is that my Apple warranty will probably be voided by an outside repair. Fingers crossed that the laptop will run smoothly throughout the time remaining on the warranty. So far, everything seems great. read more

My interaction with Techtronics was pretty disappointing. I was first surprised to hear that no repair could be handled without first paying for a costly diagnostic of $95, which i negotiated down to $70 arguing that their website failed to warn clients, showing a $65 minimum cost of water damage repair with no mention of diagnostic cost. I was told to wait for 2 days for a phone call, which never came. I had to call 3 times on the third day to have someone answer directly instead of promising a call back. I finally had the worse interaction with an infatuated (and likely sexist) technician who announced that my phone was beyond repair (despite an initial claim of a 95% repair of water damage) and i could buy a new one from them. The level of disdain showed by this person when I tried to express my discontent was infuriating. If you lie on your website, over promise at first, then can't even give a call and speak politely to share the bad news, at least learn to listen rather than interrupting, and to apologize rather than treating your clients like 5 year olds. Update: I was so nervous about the shoddy work done at techtronics that I decided to trade-in my iPhone 13 for a completely new iPhone 15 pro. Apple surprised the heck out of me when they REFUSED to accept the phone BECAUSE OF THE THIRD SCREEN PUT ON BY TECHTRONICS. I had to go back to my carrier with finesse and was lucky that they accepted it without checking for the flaw. I'm going straight to Apple for everything going forward. No more dealing with these small shops that only care about the one-off transaction. These types of shops are using recycled screens from china, not the real deal. The results are why I am giving this business 5 stars. My iPhone was completely dead as I had dropped it in the toilet and iPhone Data Recovery NYC was able to get it working again so that I could get my data off of the device. I previously took the phone to another business, but they were not able to get the phone to turn on and told me the that phone was unsalvageable. I'm glad I didn't heed their advice as I took it to iPhone Data Recovery NYC afterward and they were able to get my data off of my device, which was a heaven-sent. In retrospect, I wish I had just taken it to iPhone Data Recovery NYC from the start. My only major critique is that the actual store location name is Techtronics, not iPhone Data Recovery NYC. That threw me off a bit and honestly made me a bit wary of the company. The end result however is what won me over as I really thought my phone was beyond hope; I am very happy with the outcome. I would, however, just suggest that the company make it a little bit clearer that the store is listed as something else so folks in the future don't have the moments of confusion I experienced. Customer service-wise, the folks were pretty good about answering my questions and giving me regular updates on the phone and what needed to be done. They were also transparent about the state the phone was in and that they couldn't guarantee data recovery. I appreciated their transparency, especially since they were able to recover my data at the end of it. In terms of cost, it is a bit of an investment but the results are worth it. I ended up spending about $470 in total to fix and recover data from my 5-year-old iPhone. The first place I took my phone was cheaper but could not get the results. For things like this, you get what you pay for so I recommend making the investment. All in all, I am very happy with the service and the outcome and would highly recommend the company to anyone who has damaged electronics.
