I had a very disappointing experience with iFix NY Midtown regarding my ROG Ally X repair. Last Tuesday, they texted me saying they had diagnosed an issue with the left analog stick controller board assembly, which was affecting input and control response. They said the repair would include replacing the left analog stick controller board assembly to restore functionality. The quoted cost was $230 + tax, with an estimated turnaround time of 2-5 business days. After that, I had to call almost every day just to get updates. Then today, I received a different message saying they had received replacement parts, but not the full set. They said they could replace the damaged analog sticks themselves, but were still waiting for the round LED light rings around the sticks. They also said they could return the device with the controllers functional, but the left stick would have no LED light ring. That was concerning because the original diagnosis and quote were for the left analog stick controller board assembly, but the later message described replacing the analog sticks themselves and leaving the LED ring unfinished. For $230 + tax, I do not think a partial or incomplete repair is acceptable. When I went to pick up the device, I had already called and was told it was ready. But when I arrived, I still had to wait around 30 minutes while they reassembled it. That is not "ready for pickup." To be fair, the owner was there and was kind, apologetic, and professional. My issue was not with him. My issue was with the repair technician handling my device. His attitude was horrendous, and the interaction felt careless and unprofessional. The worst part is that after testing my ROG Ally X in-store, the left trigger felt worse than before, and the light around the stick was no longer working. I brought the device in for a specific repair, and I left feeling like it had been returned with new problems. As someone who runs a tech company and understands customer service, I was shocked by how poorly the repair side of this was handled. I had other products I was considering bringing to them, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The guy who owns this store is an awful human being and horrible small business person. Stay away. I spent nearly $200 a few months ago with him to have my iPhone camera lens repaired. Seemed expensive, but I liked the phone and he did a fine job. Fast forward to today--the battery on this same phone is now dying. I can't get it to take a charge. I asked if he could simply plug my phone into a fast charger for 10 mins to see if he could get it to take a charge - so that I could have a phone today while I wait for a replacement. I offered to give him $10 for the favor. He refused and said my only choices were a $45 minimum service fee or buy a fast charger (neither of which are certain to work). He explained he was unallowed to because of store policy. I then confirmed that he is the store owner and the only one who sets the policy. This guy is a total weasel. It's basic human decency and smart business practice to try to help customers with simple favors in a pinch. Go elsewhere. It's a drag to be around people like this. read more

Efficient and honest. My Samsung A52 would not charge. IFix took it in, and the next day charged a very reasonable $85 for repair. The elegant young man showed me how the phone was bowed; slightly bent lengthwise -- probably from sitting with out on my back pocket. I was happy to avoid the almost $500 cost of replacing the phone; the only choice that the T- Mobile store offered (after a long ad pretty dismissive wait to answer my questions) But the next day, after running morning errands, the same problem returned. They were really nice when I got the service done but..... The new battery they installed for about $129 died just after the short warranty period expired and they told me I was SOL. Horror story repair (There was more that I had to remove dude to character limitations) I called "Ifix" and they told me that they did service the Playstation 2 and that I should bring it it for diagnosis. A day later I received an email and called them to see what happened, turns out the lens was the issue not to my surprise. I asked what the quote was and it was exponentially higher than all the other shops ($170 USD). That's the same price I purchased this console for. I told the person over the phone that it was the most expensive quote that I had received and that the only reason I had brought it to them was because the turn around times for the other shops were so long. I was reluctant and asked if I could pick up the console and if there was a fee for the diagnosis, they told me there was no fee and then told me they could order the part now and have it in by the following week and that the repair would be done "same day". I would be paying an exponential amount but I would be getting what I wanted which is a fast repair time. That would have been worth the extra $90-100. In my mind it would be one week waiting for the part and on the second week I would have my console, and I would have gotten exactly what I was looking for. The following week, a week had past and it was now the second week they had my console in their possession. I called on Monday of that week to see how things were going and if there was an ETA. I was informed that "they were still waiting for parts". I called again on Wednesday asking for an ETA to which I was told "they were still waiting for parts", no word of an ETA and I was dumbfounded that there was no way for them to check when something was to be delivered. I then explained that I was told the repair would be done by this week and the only reason I left it with them is for that reason, he informed me that he would meet with the technician that day and give me a call back that day or the next. A call never came. At this point I did not trust them. You cannot charge a premium price for services and have no communication with the customer you're dealing with. I headed over to pick up my console, he checks my information and informed me that they were "waiting for parts" not a surprise. I told them that was fine and no longer wanted the repair done, and was informed that I needed to pay 15% of the repair for restocking fees, this was because they had already bought the part. It came out to $25 USD, and When I got home I realized that one of the cables for the power block was missing (the part of the cable that's inserted into the outlet). On top of that the glossy piece that was mysteriously removed and confused my was broken. It looks as if it was pried off with brute force and snapped, something I did not notice. This upset me even more because this console was in perfect condition for its age. And this is not mentioning the new scratches that can now be clearly seen at the top of the console. I did not call them back about these issues because I can already tell by the service this far it would make no difference. So I opted to make this review, and I have never written a review before about any company. They got paid $25 in the end, got to keep the part they bought for a future repair, now have the other end of my power cable to use, and gave me back a console with far more wear on it than when I had brought it in. Even if the repair had been done in the time allotted, the damages to the outside of the console would still be present. Please make your own decision on this shop when you need a repair, they're probably good at fixing phones and have a good reputation in that department, but on other devices BE WARY! I can only conclude than an inexperienced or careless technician opened my console. I see there are other negative reviews here and wish I had seen them sooner. Additionally I see they like to make PR statements under the negative reviews so pay no mind if there's one under this one, no words or statements can amend the negative experience with this shop. I brought my laptop in for a repair (water damage, I brought it in mere hours after the incident). They told me that since the repair was time sensitive, they'd give me a call with repair estimate that day so they could start repair ASAP. Instead, they called two days later and gave sparse updates. When I determined that repair would be the same price as replacement, I called, asking to pick the laptop up. They told me they'd return my call when the repair person found my computer. I had to call back the next day to even confirm that my laptop was still there, as I didn't receive a call back. When I was told I had the okay to pick up my laptop (mind you, this is two weeks after I brought it in for repair), I came at 11am (the shops opening time on Saturday. No one was there. Incompetent Twat is what comes to mind after my experience with Kevin and iFix NY. Please do yourself a favor an do not go there to get ANY device fixed. Your device will leave with more problems than what you originally went in with. Communication with this shop is piss poor and so is transparency. I had to call several times for updates as to whether the device with a cracked screen was ready. On two occasions I went to pick up my device that was deemed ready only to find new issues with the phone each time--a phone that won't make calls, a phone that won't charge, and finally after I've had enough of the run a round, I got my phone back with a crack straight through the lens. There was always without fail some mysterious part that had to be ordered and would never arrive. These folks will not tell you they cannot repair electronics, they'll show you. read more

I picked it up, brought it home and found that the computer no longer detected a battery. I brought the laptop back in the same day and was told that the technician was no longer in so I had to return the following day, which I did. Eventually after 23 days and 4 visits I had my computer back in my hands with a new keyboard but I will not be returning. They don't give updates on delays or return calls. Classic bait and switch. Got a quote for $85, was charged $108 for a very basic screen repair. This place overcharges for awful work. UPDATE: 6 months later, my iphone froze and would not reboot. I talked to an Apple Genius, who asked me if I got a third party screen repair. Apparently, shoddy work can destroy your otherwise perfect phone. I had to re-install all my applications ( which they told me I didnt need to do ). The guy at the front desk is nice but knows little about computers. Overall, not a very good experience. I had a hard time understanding what they were telling me about my computer due to thick accents and the fact they only use technical computer terms that normal people don't understand. I was mislead about what they were fixing on my computer and ended up with a computer that runs about the same as it did before, and with a copy of the German version of Wall-E left on my desktop. When they told me what was wrong with my computer, I asked if they could just fix 2 of the problems and this required manager approval. When they called me back, I was under the impression that they were going to fix everything, but had negotiated the price. Since I could barely understand what they were telling me, I said "Ok so you are going to fix EVERYTHING you told me was wrong, but now at *this* price?" They confirmed, but when I went to pick it up they said the part had only been cleaned, not replaced. Then I was told there was a minimum $99 charge, which had never been explained before.
