The door to my lanai screeched when I opened it. I wasn't able to tell where the awful sound was coming from. I tried a few things, but no improvement. I asked Yelp for a recommendation and Oahu Windows and Doors contacted me very quickly. They said they would send Nick, "our repair guy," out to take a look and give me an estimate on a repair. Nick arrived exactly at the appointed time, took a quick look (and listen) at my door and diagnosed the problem in a minute or two. Then, since the problem was a seal on the door, asked me if I simply wanted him to remove the seal to stop the sound, and gave me the pros and cons of doing so. I said yes and he removed the seal and put things back together. He gave me some tips on what to use to lubricate the door, as well as--if I ever wanted to replace the door--what I should look for and how to save money. I worked with Preston to request a quote for a bathroom door replacement. The service also required painting and sealing. During a free on-site assessment, Preston answered all our questions & discussed several options before we decided what we needed. Preston prepared our quote within 24 hours, and the pricing was very fair & reasonable. We needed the door replaced within 4 weeks in preparation for guests, but Preston was able to schedule us within 2 weeks of accepting the quote. Installation day: Preston arrived 10 mins early to set up, and work was handled by Preston, Nick O., and a 3rd worker I didn't get the name of (sorry). All 3 were very professional and friendly. They were also all very patient and nice with our dog who kept barking at them. The doorframe they were working with is nonstandard size and uneven, but they successfully fit a new door without issues and within the schedule. I have a 1940's house in need of new wooden frame screen windows. I checked around and the only one that does those wooden framed screen windows would be a carpenter and the cost was prohibitive. The only alternative were aluminum framed screen windows. The house is raised with storage and laundry on the ground floor. Preston and Nick are total pros. They repaired my double hung window - and it's better than new. The spring coil broke and the upper sash would not stay up. Since Preston is so experienced, he was able to remove the broken coil and add a new one without having to cut the vinyl frame. So it looks like there never even was a repair. I'm currently remodeling my home and asked O'ahu Windows & Doors to install a sliding shower door in the master bath. Preston and Nick arrived on time, brought all the necessary equipment, and started to install the door I had purchased. What happened next reminded of the old saying "measure twice and cut once", because during the prep phase they discovered that the top cross bar was 5/8" too short to span the opening of our shower; hence, it might not safely bear the load of the glass doors. While others may have tried to jerry-rig it, Preston and Nick realized that the end result would not be perfect. Notably, this problem was identified before any holes were drilled or even parts taken out of its original plastic wrapping. Rather, they informed me of the problem, replaced the new shower door in its box, and offered to source a custom-fit door. All, without charging me a cent. I was tremendously impressed by their honesty, competence, and work ethic. Clearly, to them I wasn't just another customer. They've earned my loyalty ... and future business! read more
