The experience and information you receive in Dave's classes will definitely make a positive impact on you, I know they did me. As a Security officer you have to learn to adapt and overcome, just like a cop, so being slightly crowded didn't bother me in the class, they purchased food and gave breaks during the CCW course, they we're professionals and i enjoyed my experience with Dave, Rich, Frank. I look forward to Shoot night. The only thing I can say as a potential area to improve on is, they need someone actively recruiting to accounts for CCW holders and standard officers. Not quite sure about the negative reviews here. They don't reflect my personal experience this past Sunday at OCSES's CCW course which was top notch. They of course had to make accomodations due to COVID but they were still there and open and did a great job. David Andersen (Lieutenant, Costa Mesa PD, ret.) (Owner) and Rich ______ (didn't get last name, Lieutenant, Fountain Valley PD, ret.) both did an outstanding job. Furthermore all of their trainers are all former law enforcement officers. Their life experiences and expertise carry an incredible amount of weight in their training qualifications. I have to give them extra credit. We're all trying to get our CCWs and these guys are working 7 days a week to train people. David did the first half devoted to real life scenarios gleaned from his experience as an officer. Very eye opening to me and most of our class. He also had a large set of videos we all evaluated where we were out into real life situations that could happen to any one of us. At the end there was live fire training at a local range, with appropriate supervision and recommendations regarding technique. I can't say enough good things about OCSES. And I have to mention their office coordinator Kerri who runs a tight ship there and handles all the licensing forms. **Added Bonus**: not only can you get your CA CCW, but they also have training privileges for UT and AZ. I started my CCW Journey early last year and OCES was a great part of that journey. I was fortunate to have Rick as my CCW in-class instructor - with his experience on the force and working with gun enthusiasts and of course, his sense of humor made the 8-hour class whiz by! Of course at the heart of the Org is Kerri who seems to live and be with her texts, emails support of questions, process, and class changes - love having that type of customer support - that is something that is not seen any many other businesses period! Shoot night - so once you have your CCW - how to do your training - well OCES provides an excellent opportunity to increase your skills! Rick is the best - he is dedicated to safety, working with any level of student in the class, and also knows we came to Shoot night to shoot and learn! My friend told me about this place to take the CCW class. It was fantastic. My teacher was Dave Anderson. I walk into an office and the first person to greet me was Dave . Doughnuts were on the table along with some coffee down the hallway . I had a small class but they fill up fast so don't hesitate to pay for you appointment. I was expecting some long drawn out class about safety but nope . I actually learned some great statistics and heard some very good stories that hold your attention. Dave has a very calm para military presence and it's awesome cause you can't tell if you're in trouble or he's just talking lol. The class room time is pretty cool and no you won't fall asleep. Once the class room is done Dave will inspect your gun and it's off to the range for qualifying I'm comfortable with my firearm so I qualified with out problem. This class is for men and women. It's a perfect learning environment with no egos , positive atmosphere and great teachers. And no i'm not getting paid to post this lol I really enjoyed the short time I was there. They offer "Shootnite " which teaches you scenario situations and how to train your muscle memory to make the right movements during hard stress situations. OCSES is totally dedicated to the nepotism of there Kids or long time relationships, even when a client request a more qualified security officer they will refuse and force the client to take the less qualified security officer. This is not in the best interest of the clIent read more

Hired OCSES to provide venue/party security for my wife's 40th birthday party when the venue required us to hire two security guards. The security officers arrived at the venue on time and were dressed in dark suits. The suits were a nice touch as most guests didn't realize they were security. Once the party ended the guards helped us breakdown the tables and chairs when they did not have too. I tried to tip the guards and they refused to take a tip. Both guards were professional and did their jobs as required. Another thing I liked was that their pricing was much more reasonable than the larger security outfits I contacted. The owner can be a little difficult to get a hold of but I would highly recommend that you be persistent cause their price and service will not disappoint you. I most likely will never need to use their services again but I would recommend Orange County Special Event Security to friends and family needing security services. read more

This is a great company, both the owner are retired CMPD and have the experience and the knowledge to get the job done. From CCW training to full blown security jobs again they get the job done. I personally need help and training, found these guys in Yelp and I was treated like family. Two years later I needed them again and they totally went out of there way for me. One of my clients talked me into taking the CCW class with him as we both have high risks jobs due to the locations and hours we work. After the class I had a better understanding of being ready to defend myself and understanding the legal aftermath that will come. They do not skip over anything and make sure that you understand. After making an appointment with one of the people who does live scans at OC Security, I went out of my way to be here within the hours he told me the store was open. I showed up and the office was closed. With total disregard for my appointment and no courtesy call they decided to just leave for the day. Poor customer service today. Maybe better on other days. I had the privilege to have both Dave and Rich as instructors. This is absolutely worth more than what you will pay. Not only for the real scenario situations which will make you think, but for a conversational classroom approach which will not make it feel like a long experience. "Shoot Night" defensive firearms training sessions are fine learning experiences for all levels of skill. The instructors are experienced, retired policemen and police training officers who have complete control of the training period in a low key atmosphere. Skills and drills are taught that one cannot experience at a normal shooting range. Dave and Rich take the very serious nature of the use of firearms and create an atmosphere of safety and fun, building the confidence of their students, challenging but not intimidating for every one. One cannot help but learn something new each session you attend. And the price of each "Shoot Night" is small compared to what you take away from each session, well worth your time and effort if you enjoy the shooting sports. read more

I enrolled in and took the CCW training class in 2015 and did the same for my 2018 CCW renewal. While I was favorably impressed in 2015. I was even more impressed with my 2018 class. In the classroom and at the range Information was concise, extensive, on target and up to the highest military and law enforcement standards. Firm owners, Dave and Rich and their staff have many years of experience, know their business cold and are more than willing to share their extensive knowledge with the public.
