Very poor experience!!! Had a new gas furnace and two heat pumps for heating and cooling installed…read morein our home on Cape Cod - over $30K expense. We had two water leaks in our basement and a flood in our attic that soaked the sheet rock so bad it looked like rain coming down in our upstairs hallway. Every time South Shore Heating and Cooling came to fix the problem we were told the floods were from faulty installation - a bolt wasn't tightened enough, insulation on the piping was missing or wasn't installed properly etc. Then most recently we found out the gas pipe they installed when they put in the new furnace was leaking gas! Just happened to find this out when National Grid came to swap out our meter. Lucky for us the National Grid technician checked the joints and found the leak. This leak was also from a bolt not being tightened enough. The amount of things that have gone wrong from poor quality of work is so upsetting and not once did a manager call to apologize. I was told by the nice woman that answers the phone that the manager doesn't speak with customers - I guess he doesn't care about their business either! The workers and receptionist were all nice to deal with but the installation and quality of work is very poor which to me means poor training and management. I will never recommend them to anyone and I don't have any peace of mind that the work that has been done is done correctly.

I had them come back to replace a pressure tank, which is an easy job. Charged me $600/hr. plus materials. The work was fine, but I asked for an itemised invoice three times and never got more than a basic total. I work with major contractors at my job all the time so I know what should be listed. It was pretty easy to figure out their material costs were, so the hourly came out to $600, which is off the charts crazy. I liked them initially, but the juice ain't worth the squeeze at $600 an hour.

Was called four hours later and told the bill was now $1400 and my system was unable to be repaired but I still needed to pay the repair bill. The technician said he was told by his boss I needed a new system. So, I had to pay the 1400 for absolutely nothing. Called and emailed for several days to get a quote on a new system. No one ever called me back. No one ever responded to my emails or messages. Had a technician from another HVAC visit and he was able to repair the system in 1 hour, charged me $250. I initially had a positive experience with Durfee Plumbing & Heating of South Dennis, MA. Sadly,…read morewhat happened next was gross overcharging, unscrupulous pricing and unprofessional customer service. Phil, the owner, was able to resolve our AC issues promptly and charged us $550 after a half day of work. We were pleased with the outcome, left a positive Google review, and decided to transition furnace maintenance to Durfee Plumbing from a local competitor, after we were asked what we currently pay for annual maintenance ($495 for two furnaces). The owner implied we would receive a similar price point to what we are paying currently. On the day for the furnace maintenance, two employees came by and spent less than 45 minutes on the furnace maintenance. I was shocked to later learn that my credit card was charged $1525, or $1000+ over their local competitor pricing, but to add insult to injury I also learned later that they did not service the attic furnace, only the basement furnace. So Durfee Plumbing charged three times as much as I previously paid, for half the job performed. When I saw the credit card charge post to my account, I proceeded to try to contact Phil, the owner. Over the course of two days, I left seven messages with the Durfee Plumbing office. And not once did Durfee Plumbing return our calls. At the end of the second day of trying to contact Phil & Durfee Plumbing, we received notice that a $655 credit will be posted to our credit card. I responded that was still $345 short of the fair price and reminded Phil that only half the job was performed, and my expectation was for a refund of $1000 and for his team to complete the job, which includes the attic furnace maintenance. Overall, after what started out to be a promising plumbing vendor to work with, it is now clear we have been defrauded by Durfee Plumbing. Grossly overcharged relative to other local plumbers on cape cod, services underperformed (only 1/2 the job that was committed to) and very unprofessional customer service practices.
