Today he upgraded our residential circuit breaker box and put in new wiring and outlets for our washer dryer. I'm grateful to find a tradesman who is both excellent at his trade along with being patient with his customer. Because of his work I would respect any company that he worked for and that of course includes includes Harper Electric.

First let me be clear that their technician Jim was a very nice person and the work that we asked…read morethem to do (adding a 220 plug to our barn) was done well so far as I can tell. The problem is that Jim is very social and spent a lot of time talking as well as doing work we had not asked to have done. I asked ONLY for the 220 plug to be added and requested a quote and was told that they didn't like to give them but ballpark if all goes well $180 ... that it would take about 1 hour at $80/hour + $100 for parts something like that. However because of chatting and socializing and taking on tasks he was not asked to do the tech was here for 2.5 hours. He took it upon himself to relabel our entire electrical panel and charged me the hourly rate for it... it took him 1 hour so $80 added to my bill. When he Brought the ticket for me to sign it was for more than double what they had quoted me. Partly this was because we needed to add some kind of double breaker switch which I agreed too and was willing to pay for but on the day of the service the tech told me that $80 was for the 1 hour he had spent re-labeling my fuse box. At that time I said well I'm not signing this because I don't have an extra $80 laying around and I did not want the fuse box relabeled and if you had asked if I wanted that and let me know what the cost would be I would absolutely have declined because anyone can relabel a fuse box themselves they don't need to pay a professional to do it. He said he understood and left with the unsigned bill. I was waiting for a call from the owner to discuss in further detail but it never came I did however begin receiving collections calls from his secretary. Finally I spoke with Bryan the owner I assume who insulted me, threatened me, swore at me and continued to insist that it was my word against his that the tech had only spent 20 mins on the box and that the rest of the $407 invoice was for I don't even know what. Long story short I called and received a $180 ballpark quote but then was charged $407 accused of lying, threatened with small claims court if I didn't pay in full and sworn at. When I let Bryan know that I would be leaving this detailed review he said he would dispute it.

About three years ago, we wanted to upgrade from our old fuse box so we hired some random guys (they weren't licensed but claimed to know what they were doing) to install our new circuit breaker. They were recommended by a family friend. Long story short, these two guys wired everything incorrectly and put our home at risk of possibly catching fire. We decided to hire a professional company to fix the problem so we called Brennan Electrical after seeing their name somewhere and setup an appointment. They (the owner of the company came that time. He's a great guy!) came out promptly to fix everything and make sure that our wiring was safe. He even labeled each breaker so we knew which switches controlled each room or area of our home. He explained in detail what he fixed and showed us how to use the new circuit breaker. A couple years ago, we needed to add outlets to a room in our basement that we were going to use as a 'movie room'. This meant that we needed to have good outlets capable of handling all the power that we would be generating in that room. We called Brennan Electric again and a technician came out promptly and installed the new outlets. He explained everything that he did and was courteous and professional. We recently had some issues due to a lightning strike and will be calling Brennan Electric again. We trust them and know that they will do their jobs in a timely, professional way. I HIGHLY recommend that others use their services if they are in need of a good, trustworthy electrician.

BEWARE!!! SCAM Company!! Based upon Angie's List, we called this company to provide a quote and…read morecomplete the installation of two electrical outlets. The operator assured me that the work could be done in the day of the estimate, assuming I felt the price was appropriate. The technician arrived, took one look at installing two outlets and reassured me that he had no idea how to do it and everyone in the company was out on vacation. It progressively got worse as he provided me a quote that exceeded $2K for two simple outlets. When I told him that was outrageous and compounded by the fact that he could not perform the work, said that I would not proceed. He then said, "well pay me my $50.00 for coming out and I'll be gone". For What??? I called the company while he was there and to their credit they told him to leave without the service fee. I called another electrician, he was able to install the outlets in 1 hour, and charged me a whopping $300.00 I could not believe the price gouging that this company attempted, which they claim is based on national averages!! What a mess!! Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

I called no less than 5 places and the only one that showed up was Detroit Beesley Electric. He said he would be there at 2pm. showed up at 2, quoted the price and had us whit heat in 1 hour! The were very clean, courteous and efficient. A few of the other companies showed up later. TWO DAYS later. Thanks again. The owners name is Ted but his whole crew was awesome!
