It was a chill vibe. I went on a Saturday night and there were maybe 5 other people there, drinking and watching the hockey game. I paid 11 dollars for two cosmopolitans, not bad for the area. Plus they were STRONG and the bartender was quick and attentive. I would come again. I wish there were games there. I only saw the darts, maybe I missed it. I've walked by this bar a couple of times now while visiting friends in the Astoria Ditmars area and have always been curious as to what its like inside. I love super shitty Irish dive bars. Love. L-o-v-e. I also like bougie but there's nothing like the fresh smell of musk, seeing a bunch of regulars that have been sitting there for way too long cradling their bud lites and pondering where their life is going to take them next. I had about 30 minutes to kill before heading to a baby shower down the street and was torn over whether I wanted to get a coffee somewhere or an alcoholic beverage. Given that I knew no one at this shower, I went with just a nice lite beer. They have an okay selection on tap and nothing remarkable but the traditionals and Singlecut and Fat Tire if you are feeling more exotic. What won my heart over really and truly though was their free party mix on the bar tops. Not that crumby kind - oh ho ho ho no. It's the kind with the cheetos, pretzels, doritos, and the little frito bits that have a kick to them. The best kind of party mix one can really have anywhere. My beer was about $6 but they have $3-4 specials probably at all wakes of the night/day. Curious if this is any way related to the O'Hanlon's on east 14th street in Manhattan but probably just a popular name. read more

This place became my neighbourhood dive back in December. I had become fed up with Ditmars Station next door and stumbled in here. I was immediately taken in by some of the patrons and the barkeeps. Since then, I have befriended a number of regulars and have made a point to stop in here for Rangers and Yankees games. I watched all of the Giants' playoff games and the Super Bowl here. This dive tends to be heavily populated with Giants fans, while it tends to be split down the middle between Yankees and Mets fans. I've had some fascinating conversations with a number of fellow patrons and some of the barkeeps. I could write a captivating novel about this place. Oh, and one other great thing: No one is allowed to mention Tebow's name in the bar. This rule I love. read more

I live very close to this place, but walked past it for the past 10 years. I was always kind of intimidated by the tough sorts hanging around outside, but one night when I Seriously Needed a Drink at a Dive and didn't want to pay the markup at Sparrow or walk to McCann's I stepped in. It was a weeknight, and the earlyish weeknight crowd had a lot of old guys who you knew showed up when the place opened that AM. Almost don't want to let this secret out for fear it'll turn into the next Irish Rover (RIP when it used to be a laid back chill dive bar and has since turned into just another frat/sorority type flannel wearing hang out). Very friendly barstaff, great buy back policies (always very happy with the end bill result) and not only do they let you have food ordered to the bar, they even have a wide selections of delivery menus available. I love this place. My friends live a few blocks away and introduced me to this place and I LOVE it. Cheap drinks, chill vibe, completely unpretentious, great bartenders (with buybacks if you're nice!). No food but you can grab a slice across the street and bring it into the bar. Friendly bartenders and locals here and it's a reall chill an laid back dive bar . If there's a game on that's not on the tube they will gladly find the channel and put it on for you . The best thing is these bartenders and locals are honest ! After a night of drinking here for few hours drinking their ipa which I forget the name of? Hmmmm , anyway I left both my phones here pretty buzzed and didn't notice on my walk home lol . Woke up the next day , called my phones and guess who answers ? The bartenders , and they New I left my phones and told me they had both of them " fuck yea" there and I could come in anytime too pick them up that they'll be there safe . I was so pumped they had my phones since ones for work "good thing they didn't call lol " and the other is just my new personal 7plus I just got 2 weeks ago . So I show up thank the lady which was a different bartender from the previous night of course and ordered more drinks and got drunk again that day to celebrate not losing 2 expensive phones lol . I tipped them even more generously and always will from now for their honesty and kindness . I'm the guy that's tips 3-5 bucks after every drink and I drink maybe 6-8pints before I jet out of any place an no place gets lt more deserving then this place . To be honest with you I used to love this plac. But now Nicolina is like a Horny bitch! She will put up her nasty attitude if you're good looking. Fine bar for an older crowd. It is more of a beer bar than liquor, but that doesn't stop me. I had some vodka mixed drinks-- a little light on the vodka for my taste. But they have two pool tables in the back so that keeps me coming back. read more

A dark dive bar conveniently located a few feet from the Ditmars Blvd subway steps. The bartenders are friendly and are generous with the buybacks. This is a laid back locals bar, and probably the most welcoming of all the dives in the area. It's hard to predict what the crowd will be like on any given night. Some nights you will find just two or three patrons in their 40's or 50's. Other nights the avg age could be 35 or lower. People describe it as seedy, but those who start trouble here are not welcomed back. Be conscious of the kind of patrons when picking songs on the jukebox. I love this place!! Great dive bar experience, with wonderful bartenders!! Nikolina, Valerie, and Mary are all amazing and great at what they do!! In NYC there are very few places where you can go and get a great value for your buck $$ and that's what Ohanlons does. Not to mention that they do have live music from time to time with Deny and Brad bringing out their musical genius for all to enjoy. I put together a bar crawl with my friends in which we tried to go to as many dive bars in Astoria as possible. This was first on my list. Dark, divey and very towny. Looks like a dive bar you'd find in a small town in the midwest or something. Mostly old men, but the bartender was friendly and mixed drinks were only $4.75. Let me reiterate. $4.75.
