I came in with a Bad Alternator. Sold to me via my Mechanics account in March. I paid. The warranty allowed a swap if defective. Not long into April the power issues began and by this last week. I needed a Jump from place to place. Wasting money all the way. 2 days ago I go the replacemen installedt. ABS went out, the engine was struggling, and the transmission was sluggish. Spent the night in their parking lot with 3 kids, and husband who lost a day's wages. Yeasterday after spending time allday, spending a lot a their store. MY Mechanic chasing fictitious gremlins. We decided to get anothelrl Alternator. O'reilys had none, and wouldn't test the warranty swapped one. We went to Napa. 1/2 hour from Their closing. Tested it ÷ O'Reillys Alternator. Failed. I got Pictures. I got receipts! They sold me a faulty Alternator and replaces it with a dud. I returned and asked for a refund. They would not give it, and the Store Manager passed me off to his bosses collectively He took me outside so other customers wouldn't hear. He saw what we went through over those two days and did nothing---his managers were out.It was the weekend . I left with tears in my eyes. My Children were u consulate because I couldn't afford their toys let alone a decent meal after that. I can't afford to go home till Friday. I got a call today (Tuesday). From one of their Managers upchain from the floor Store managers. He's willing to give us a refund. Straightforward questions. No bad blood. It won't erase the experience, but willhelp renumerate the fiscal loss. I talked to my Dad who is knowledgeable. Remains. Always insist they be tested. Do not leave or conclude a transaction until it is tested. If they can't or won't test it. Don't buy it. Do not take the clerks word they can't divine. If it works by sight.Either way. Ultima needs to beef up it's quality control. Fast.

After three months the interstate battery that I purchased went bad as verified by the auto shop…read morethat I took my vehicle to. I had to jump the battery just to get the vehicle started and nothing in the vehicle came on and after I jumped it and I drove it and shut it off again nothing would even come on and it had to be jumped. The alternator etc. wasn't bad. I took the battery back after having to buy a new one at the auto shop and the guy at Interstate that I talked to started giving me a hard time. Said they were going to test it and then "see ' if they were going to replace the battery. Well I left it there the next day I got a call from another guy who said they had charged my battery and it was ready for pickup and seemed to have no clue as to the problem that I had told the other guy about. I was told that there was nothing wrong with that one ( the one that I took back) . I called in and talked to the owner and they weren't honoring the warranty, I heard her husband telling her what to say also. I told her I didn't want the battery back because it was bad and the new battery was starting the vehicle every time. I ultimately told her if she thought that there was nothing wrong with it to put it in her car and drive it and shut it off and try to start it again and trust that it's good like they were telling me to do. The value of the batteries that they sell is not good. And apparently they don't think they should have to honor their warranties. Update: I had a separate third party auto shop check out my vehicle and they found no electrical drains from the system on the battery. Interstate batteries rips people off.

I use consumer reports for advise, like yelp, reading in-between the lines. Consumer reports rates interstate batteries up there with die hard, sometimes better, sometimes worse, that got my attention. I called, they had my size, great, since the die hard in my truck was slightly undersized due to the fact that the last time I needed a battery, sears didn't have my size and I compromised. No compromise here, The good. they had my 1000 amp/hr battery in stock. " we have lots of those" The good, yahoo maps took me to their front door. The better: they opened the garage bay door and let me change out my battery in the warmth. ( IT WAS Frikin 0 F ouside.) I brought some of my own sockets, didn't need them. The best: drove out into the cold with a good battery. note: I kept my expensive 2.5 yr old Die Hard Platimum battery. I'm going to put it on a desulfinator. I read the first to review post and understand his frustration with buying stuff, in general. My expectations were different. I didn't expect them to know what desulfinate , or specific gravity meant. I expected politeness and a consumer reports highly rated battery. I got that. and a warm place to change the battery at no charge. ( five stars review will follow in three years if the battery lasts three winters) 10-14/18. Still acts as new.
