I get that stuff like that happens (they are in the car selling business after all), but you'd think they'd be on top of this prior to my arrival (isn't that the whole point of making a test drive appointment???). Instead, I was met with "Oh, the vehicle just got here and isn't driveable yet, I've got to go prep it first", which was then followed up by "We already sold it". OK...not off to a great first impression, but let's see if there's something else in stock for me to drive. I didn't get a good vibe from the first salesperson, Rick. He may have been a great guy, but his voice was grating to my ear and he came off as an argumentative, pushy car salesperson (trying to get me to look at a 2024 when I asked to test drive a 2025 and being extremely cagey about the 2026 arrival, which I've heard on the internet could be as soon as next month (but he's telling me there's no info on 2026 models and who knows it might be 7 months away). It really felt like his goal was to steer me to old inventory, when I explicitly said I was interested in a 2025 or 2026 car. By all means, tell me after the fact ("hey, BTW if you want to save some money there's a $5k discount on 2024 models right now"), but lead with giving me the info I requested first. When he was away from his desk, I quietly confirmed that they did not work on commission and then asked if I could work with someone else. After transitioning to another salesperson, Luke, we were able to communicate much better; our wavelengths were better aligned. We did the test drive, and he gave me the "out the door" price quote I requested. When he demonstrated the sunroof, there was a tiny embarrassing moment when he couldn't get it to close, even with repeated attempts. We eventually got it closed after getting the car in motion, but that was a wee bit concerning. I mean really...when have you ever tried to close something on a brand new car and it refuse to do so? Did we forget to say the secret password or something??? The car does take voice commands. The voice assistant is named Ida; I guess we could have tried schmoozing her, but alas we didn't think to do so. I liked Luke and the sales manager, Travis; I liked many of the features on the Tiguan, and it felt good on the road. I'm still considering all my options (perhaps stay with what I have, or perhaps a Toyota/Mazda/Honda); thank you VW for the test drive.

I…read morewas test driving a used car from a guy late at night and the only mechanic in the area still open was his mechanic, so we stopped in to talk to him about the car (I know, I should have had an objective mechanic check it out). The Hillcrest mechanic told me that even though the ABS warning light was on, the ABS absolutely worked, the front end was tights, and he'd buy it if he had the money. I bought the car and learned the next day from my mechanic, that not only was the ABS not working, but if the light is on it means it absolutely CANNOT work. It would cost almost $400 (and the front end was loose in 2 places). So I called Hillcrest and told the mechanic that I bought the car on his word that the ABS worked. He denied ever saying it worked. I asked if he would fix it at half price. "Not gonna happen." Click. I'm not wining about it, caveat emptor, I did see the warning light, and I still got an ok price on a decent car. I'm posting this to document the mechanic's dishonesty.

My truck was running rough so I went in. Got a $4200 estimate including knock codes. The truck isn't worth it. Got a second opinion. THERE WAS A MOUSE NEST IN THE AIR FILTER COMPARTMENT.
