So much for my Saturday project. The shop was closed for the weekend, so I couldn't resolve it. I met with the owner, Dan, on Monday. He ordered a new set of security lugs in hopes that the key would work. It did not. The tech had misplaced my original key during the brake inspection. Anyways I notice when going to work early morning my Chevy Trailblazer (Who I named Old Faithful) was reving really hard. I had contact my relative and she sent me to Midas In Eden Prairie, MN. Boy DID I MAKE A BIG MISTAKE. Midas told me I had to replace a whole cylinder head!! IT was gonna cost me $6k!! That is like a good used car! On top of that they we're inspecting other parts of the car that was not necessary! Unfortunately, I had to pay $122 for the diagnostic but I by change had contacted on Craig's List another Mechanic who referred me to Erik. I had told Erick and he himself was shocked at my story! He new Midas was BS-ing and I went to him. My engine was still fine! I just needed new spark plugs which he believed Midas technicians damage by pulling it out the improper way and new great quality coils which I should have don vs buying from Ebay. My dealer told me I only had about 10% of life left on them. I was surprised at that, because I drive with a central eye to gas mileage. I coast up to stops as often as possible. After Joe looked at them, he told me I had about 90% life on them and didn't recommend doing anything with them. The second and third times I took the car in, I expected to be told I had muffler problems and then a CV boot problem. Again, Joe diagnosed minor problems, showed me what the actual problem was and then did minimal repair. I think I've spent a total of $40 on all three visits! Car is running great and I just cleared another dealership check-up with no problems. I'll be heart-broken if Joe ever retires.....
