I ordered my topper about 3 weeks ago, I was told maybe 10 to 12 weeks. Well, its already here and freshly installed. This is not the first time I've done business with Toppers & More. They are always very helpful and patient. With truck prices the way they are, I decided to keep my truck and put a better topper on it. It looks incredible! Previously at other topper shops they only used 4 clamps even on the 6.5' bed. These guys of course used 6 clamps. They made sure the topper is aligned correctly, and that everything was working smoothly before I even left the lot! I have enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy doing business with them in the future. Recently I relocated from Minnesota to California. Prior to my move I needed to find a topper for my old pick-up. Toppers and More had a used topper that fit my truck. I just called in advance and gave them the year, make, model, etc. of my truck and they had what I needed in stock. I personally had a great experience with their sales people and technicians. I was told it would take 5 to 7 weeks to get the topper. That was fine, I called them at 7 weeks after I Hadn't heard from them and they said it was due in the next week. After a week and a half I called them again. They said it was in but that the company forgot to put the pet screens in which were extra. They would take about a week to get them. Once again no call from toppers and more so after another week and a half I called them it's finally in. I make an apt to come have it put on and I think everything is great. The next day my husband was behind me in his vehicle and the lights weren't hooked up on the topper. We called in to make yet another appt and no apologies. When asked why they didn't get hooked up there response was that the installer was probably running behind. So apparently there time is way more important then mine. So a week later we took the topper in to have the lights hooked up. My husband questioned the mistake again. Not one apology, I'm sorry, nothing. They already had our money. Protect yourself and your money: STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! The owner, Rod, who is involved in every transaction, is very passive aggressive, with signs of pure instability!!! His behavior is way beyond being unprofessional. I bought my first topper from this outfit -- it will definitely be the last time I buy anything from them! After purchasing a $1,500+ topper from the owner himself, he was rude, physically threatening, and made confrontational comments when I returned to ask about things that would typically have been provided/addressed when the topper was installed (small bottle of touch-up paint, trimming the door seal, literature, etc; these were all matter-of-fact, afterthoughts, or so one would think), and to ask that he address a matter concerning a factory-installed feature of the topper. It simply wasn't installed correctly, no big deal. It only needed about 15 minutes of attention (as I later found out after another outfit serviced it under warranty on behalf of the manufacturer.) The manufacturer would have reimbursed him for his trouble . . . but no-o-o-o-o, he went off on me. That was after I told him that I'd be glad to correct it if he could just tell me how to get the part off. He made a couple of confrontational comments and physically-threatening gestures. So much for the so-called superior customer service he claims profusely on his website. DON'T BELIEVE IT. It simply is not true, at least after the sale, when it matters. Many weeks later, I still couldn't believe it; I was so shocked because I didn't expect it, I didn't see it coming at all. Since the manufacturer addressed the matter through another outfit, it worked out. I was tempted to communicate the incident to the BBB or even the State Attorney General's Office, to get some concession from him, but I so much didn't want to deal with him again; it wasn't worth the hassle. It would have cost me more (time, frustration, negativity, etc), so I decided to share openly about, brush it off, and help others "beware!" Everybody should know that they tell you they give you a 30 day return policy, but if you have to return it to upgrade...They do not take returns without the box. They never gave me a box, so if you do come to this very dishonest establishment make sure you get the box when you purchase your topper. She called her boss and her boss said we do not take returns without the box. But this was after she asked me, "Who told you that we have a return policy?we don't have a return policy." She was the same person who sold me the insufficient bed cover. read more

Below is a letter I wrote to this business after my extremely dissappointing encounter with this business. "I can't express enough my level of disappointment enough, over what transpired today. I have an extremely hectic schedule as I work full time and my wife is being relocated so I have to handle all moving preparations. I decided today that I will be driving my truck to our new home and I want a topper to cover the items I need to haul with me and keep them semi-secure. After doing a bit of research online I called your company and found that while you were more expensive than online sources, I felt your price was reasonable enough to throw the business to a local company. After speaking with a woman twice who was very nice and answered my questions my last call was to a man who checked to make sure you had the product in stock. This was approximately 5-10 minutes before 3pm. After he said you had the part, I told him I would be down in a little while. You can imagine how irritated and upset I was after driving 25-30 minutes down to your business only to find out you had closed at 3pm being that it is Friday. No one bothered to mention that during any of my 3 calls, including the one just 5-10 min prior to closing in which I mentioned I would be coming down in a bit. I was willing to pay a little more to support a local business and just get it done, but now I'm just mad I wasted what little time I have as well as the gas." read more

We were told by the salesperson that this top of the line A.R.E. topper would be cool enough for our dogs despite the small crank out windows. We had it installed on our brand new 2015 truck. The topper was installed with an inch of dirt on it like it had come out of a junk yard, (could have at least washed it off with a hose prior to installing), I had to lube the lock because the key wouldn't even turn when I got home. I then had to drive the 20 miles back the next week because the topper wasn't even aligned correctly, (it sat back 1-2" too far). Thank goodness I installed a temp sensor because on our first trip in 69* outside temps the topper rose to 97* at 10 in the morning. Since then we've had to install a truck boot to mirror the rear truck window with the topper's, install a noisy transfer fan to get the cab air into the topper area, carpet the topper to keep the road heat to a minimum, paid a body shop to PAINT the top white to reflect the heat, installed windshield heat reflectors in the side windows and have to run our air all summer as we drive. The rear crank out window, despite not being used separated from the mount, (the glue came apart), so now, after waiting over the week we were told it would take to get a new window we're still waiting for a replacement window while it leaks rain into the truck bed, (we have to take out the carpeting each time to dry it). The person I just hung up from on the phone had the same "oh well" attitude as everyone else we've talked to as she said "it may be in this week"? To recap, sold a product that didn't perform as told and left to fend for ourselves to resolve, poor un-professional installation that takes two trips and work by myself to even make operable, lack of concern when a problem does occur, the topper itself turned out to be of inferior quality. read more

Decent establishment with a functional website, staff and competitive prices. However the technician had trouble selecting the proper size torx bit to install the new tonneau cover I purchased resulting in two stripped out bolts and an undersized bit lodged in the third. I understand that I was probably the last job of the day and they wanted me out the door, but the lack of problem solving capabilities leaves me with an uninstalled cover that I'll have to resolve myself. These things do happen (as the techs assured me of) but since that is the case I'm fairly disappointed in the inability or unwillingness they had to simply solve the problem. The desk staff was kind enough to knock $20 off of the $429 price tag for the annoyance of a very simple, botched installation. read more

My husband passed away 2 years ago, so in order to sell his new truck, I had Toppers & More remove the topper, which was like brand new, and would pay them their 20% commission if they sold it. I told them to call me if anybody made an offer lower than my price. After a few months, I called them and reduced the price to $900. I kind of forgot about it then and after over a year went by, I contacted them in April 2014 to see if I had gotten any bites and to maybe reduce the price again. The lady on the phone was very nice, but she said she couldn't find the paperwork and she would call back, which she did not. I called again, and she said she still couldn't find the paperwork, so I faxed her the form that was filled out when the topper was dropped off. She said the manager, Rod, would call me back, which finally he did. He said the paperwork couldn't be found anywhere and the topper was no longer on the lot, so it must have been stolen! (Toppers have to be taken off with a forklift, plus this place is surrounded by a gate!) I said what about the $720 you owe me, since it was last priced at $900. He said too bad, look on the form, in fine print it says "not responsible for damaged or stolen goods." Therefore he wasn't going to pay me anything and maybe I should contact my homeowner's insurance and file a claim. I said, no, why don't YOU file a claim with YOUR insurance and he says they don't have insurance for that. I could not believe this was happening! I said, "so the topper was stolen, PLUS you can't find the paperwork? Sounds like an inside job to me! I think the topper got SOLD and whoever sold it lost the paperwork." But he STILL insisted he wasn't going to pay me. I got off the phone and called my son-in-law, who is a lawyer, and he immediately called Rod, told him he was a lawyer, and that it didn't matter what the fine print said, the burden of proof was on him to PROVE it was stolen, and he asked him if he had ever filed a police report, which of course he had not. Then suddenly Rod said he wanted to "resolve" this with me so he would be calling me the next day (funny how he wanted to resolve it after speaking to a lawyer!) He did call me and offered only $500, even though he owed me $720 (if the topper sold for $900). He insisted he would not pay a dime more, so I accepted because I didn't want to deal with him any more. Then I asked him how often he did inventory and why they didn't notice my topper was missing, and why wasn't anything documented on their computer, and he got VERY irate and yelled at me that "this was not a computer-based business" and "DON'T TELL ME HOW TO RUN MY BUSINESS"!! How unprofessional this guy is. Wow! Like another reviewer said, this guy is UNSTABLE! Stay away from this place, it's not worth it. read more
