Since Harrahs has casinos everywhere the money you spend will all build up in your Total Rewards(Diamond Bitches!!) and I mainly use them for free rooms in AC and even once in Vegas so you can't beat that. The thing you young whipper snappers don't get or understand is that once you spend a certain amount they will send you free slot money. FREE. Now it wouldn't really mean anything to me because I hate the slots but they still have computerized blackjack and roulette tables that I can use. This means that I have Literally walked in with 40-50 dollars in slot money and left with 200-300, and I also know people that have left with over a G. WITHOUT USING YOUR OWN MONEY. so next time and EVERYTIME use that card. I was surprised to see a Harrah's in Chester, PA. So, on the way back home to DC, my roommate and I decided to check out this place. I thought it was interesting because it was the first time that I had seen a casino floor located above a horseracing floor as it is usually the other way around. The casino is located on the 4th floor. And if you're a regular casino player, you'll know that games are usually the same as are at the other casinos in other cities. Aliens, Monopoly, Wheel of Fortune, Hex, Texas Tea and lots of others. One thing that I hadn't seen in other places were the Wizard of Oz games. And they only have 4! C'mon...add some more! (Non-alcoholic) beverages are free here. You just gotta get them on your own. Waitresses come by every now and then for orders of alcoholic drinks. Since we came in the morning...the restaurants weren't open...except for this little cafe. Damn, they wanted a lot of money for breakfast foods. Forget that! Video poker machines have horrible pay outs and the slots don't seem to pay like they do in Atlantic City or even Delaware. The buffet is overpriced and the quality of the food is horrible. The new Italian place might have served me the worst fettuccine alfredo that I've ever had. It came in a cup and the alfredo sauce was pure liquid. It was like fishing for noodles. There is a new cheesesteak place downstairs. $10 for a cheesesteak. I don't think so. We rarely stop here and just keep heading down the Atlantic City Expressway. You should too. read more

But that said, Harrah's Chester Casino was far less seedy than I expected. It was cheerfully decorated, large, spacious and clean. Sure the din of slot machines was deafening. Sure the glitz was on the tackier side of today's tastes. It was expected from a casino. At the far end, newly arrived Blackjack tables were filled to capacity and the money flowed from the patrons to the dealer, like the Mississippi during flood season. A newly laid horse track lay between the casino's enormous glass windows and the chilly Delaware river in the distance. The people filling the seats were a mix of retirees squandering their Social Security, construction workers living paycheck to paycheck hoping to win some breathing room, and seedy asian men looking for an easy buck. All were sipping the self-serve sodas that flowed freely. No one dressed up; jeans or shorts and t-shirts seemed to be the favored garb. The food was expensive and not worth the price, although I didn't have a chance to try the more upscale dining choices available. In summary worth a visit, but not a return. read more

Kind of stupid. If they kept the bloody Mary's coming no doubt I would have played more. And lost more. Slots were boring as hell. Mostly penny slots. Not a big fan. I used to like this casino- before Parx and Sugarhouse came on the scene. It must have been for lack of gambling establishments near my home because for the life of me I don't know what I ever saw in the place. First of all- the ventilation is horrific. I know you can smoke in every casino, and that doesn't bother me, but when I feel like I'm being choked out by the smoke and no one around me has a cigarette in their hands there's a problem. Secondly- the table games are consistently packed. You have to stand by the roulette table just hoping and praying someone goes broke and leaves so you too can then lose your money. And JabbaJazz D. has it right about Mr. Cashman. I have never seen so many of them in one casino. It's unbelievable! This casino is (what I believe) one of the better ones in the Philly region, but still not that great... Came here for an MMA fight last weekend and it seemed completely disorganized! Upon walking into the casino, I asked the person standing by the casino floor where I can pick up tickets to the show. She had no idea. She led me to the gift shop. The gift shop then sent me downstairs to the box office. The box office then states they don't do that there and sent me further along. Then when I get to the place, I told the lady I won tickets off of Yelp, a social media site. She said to stand in line at will call bc she does only card holder tickets. Well I stand in line for about 30-45 minutes waiting and waiting. Get to the front of the line...they don't have my ticket. Guess who had it?!?!?! The lady that told me to stand at will call. The staff here are completely clueless. The casino should inform the staff of events going on that day/weekend and educate them a lil so the customers aren't going on a wild goose chase. After the fight, my husband and I decided to skip the club and just grab a bite to eat. We only walked through the casino floor and stunk of smoke!!! The ventilation in there is horrible. Blackjack players in the know are apparently flocking to the gambling "mecca" of Philadelphia to play. The reason is that, apparently, the law in Pennsylvania forces casinos there to have the most player friendly blackjack rules in the United States. Dealers are forced to stand on soft 17, the player is allowed to keep splitting so long as the cards allow, and doubling down on splits is allowed. My walking out of this casino $27.50 up after just six hands on one of their four $5 fake dealer video blackjack machines (they're quite popular so don't expect an immediate seat) shows that any idiot with a clue on the game can have a good time and make a little money playing here. Plus there's enough video poker machines here to satisfy any addict (including a few of my favorite 50 and 100 play machines). The problem with this place isn't with the gaming, it's with the overall lack of anything much to do here besides it. It really is a locals casino where you can spend a couple of hours and then leave. I went to one of the few events that this casino actually hosts, a beer festival, and it was fun enough (though it seemed like an afterthought and very few people in the casino itself even seemed to know about it). Walking through the lower level of the casino to get to the event, past the racebook, I couldn't help but notice how depressingly empty this place is even on a Saturday. I'm sure in the summer it's more hopping with the horse races than it is in the winter though. The restaurants here are also kind of lacking. Besides a 24-hour Italian place, it's all fast food. But at least the beverages are out in the open and they do a decent job of segregating the smoking and non-smoking sections. Personally I am not a gambler, I don't know how those games work and I have no interest in learning. I came to Harrah's to attend a concert of a friend. Walking in the noises and flashing lights familiar to all casinos distracted me. I saw they have a variety of slots to attract all types (for instance "glitter kitty" which is definitely aimed at someone in my demographic of crazy cat lady). The floors seemed clean enough and the smoking seemed to be mostly outside. There was a section completely devoted to horse betting which had very uncomfortable looking chairs and booths in it. We went outside to check out the horse track and there was a homeless looking person sleeping on the patio couches. The music took place in a ballroom which was an odd set up, rows of chairs with numbers stapled to them in rectangle sections. The sight lines were nonexistent. You couldn't see sitting or standing because of the lay out. The room is definitely not intended for this use and I would have been annoyed if I had paid for my ticket since they were expensive. The sound quality was decent for that type of room but not amazing. The entire thing had the feeling of being in a middle school gym that was being re-purposed. I hope I don't ever have a reason to need to return here. If you are a gambler, it might be worth it. read more

Pretty fun with live dancers while you play! Hahaha! The live dancers are on top of tables and bar stools, etc. The blackjack tables happen to be in front of the dancers with skimpy wear.. so if you're looking to bet big, best not to sit there and get distracted. If you want cheap scenic thrills, then there's your spot!!!!! First time was ok, not as crowded. Second time was NUTS. but hecks no - aint coming back here. The smoke was unbelievable clouding up the ENTIRE floor. Don't they have proper ventilation or something? It was so overwhelming with the smoke that I nearly had to stay outside for a while. Usually a little smoke does not bother me so long as the place include a functioning way to rid the smoke. But dang! This was nauseating. Not only that, I lost $ so that's a double whammy. Plus the customers who were there was totally not friendly... not sure if they're from out of town or in town... but these are the little things that leaves a bad impression. The bathrooms had like people on the phone talking so much smack, closing the bathroom doors all loud just because they're pissed. One person lost money, the other person was trying to yell at the caller for checking up on her, another person was gossiping. It's like one thing after another of disastrous events. Then one of the Harrah's personnel carded me, which is fine and then he saw that I was touching my wristband. He came over to warn me to not take it off. Dude, I was only touching it, it's not like i can take it off that easily. It's one of those carnival ones that require a scissor to remove. Goodness gracious. I generally do not want to make a big deal about these situations because it can be random and not entirely the fault of the entity itself. It was just bad in terms of the quality of the atmosphere in dealing with people and the smoke. I am not even sure if there are any solutions to what has happened. Perhaps they should be a bit more professional - maybe that might have helped things. for example, the dealers and pitbosses were dancing to the music, and i do not mean just shaking their shoulders nor bopping their heads. One dealer started to grind with the table dancers, which is great - since everyone wants to have a little fun. But then the janitorial staff started to break it down too, with their brooms and stuff. And people all noticed it so the other staff started to gather up. It's all in good fun, i understand, but these are the little details that can make or break a good impression. It's just that these types of scenarios are not common in reputable casinos, especially a chain like Harrah's. I think whoever is reading this knows exactly what I am talking about. read more

Its an ok place. There are tons of free parking. It has everything that Atlantic City has except beaches, Hotel Rooms, Buffet. What I did like was the free all you can drink soda fountain that u can get yourself instead of waiting for a waitress. When I am there I usually eat either at Tony Lukes or their Italian like restaurant and leave with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. If you like Gambling and want a place to stay, I suggest stay in Philly and drive there, otherwise go to Atlantic City. Especially if you have kids. There is no place for kids here. read more

I live only about 5 miles from Harrah's Chester and went tonight (Fri) with a friend for dinner, then, some drinks and people watching. Temptations Buffet, unfortunately, is as bad as it ever was. Cool to lukewarm food, dry roast beef, cold pork chops and fried chicken. Better to eat before you go. HOWEVER, that being said...they redid the casino floor bar, "Stir". Stir was beat, so--I hadn't been back in over a year. The bar is now "C Bar" and was fantastic! They have live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights till 9p--then at 9:30 till 1:30 a.m. a DJ. Also, two live dancers...very tasteful, nice crowd, EXCELLENT music and ENTERTAINING BARTENDERS. I don't quite know why they haven't advertised this place because it rocks! The music was slammin', the dancers were hot and the bartenders--INCREDIBLE! Thanks for a great time. I will be back. read more

We finally decided to come check out our (kinda) local harrah's! My one major complaint is the smoke. UGH the smoke. There are some some free areas but hey are right adjacent to smoking areas so .. It helps but only partially. Otherwise, a great spot. Very friendly staff, from the people at the desk to security to bartenders! We played some roulette and the tables were all pretty packed. It was hard at times to get in... Especially at the $15 minimum tables, of which there were only 2. Dropping $25 for a minimum at the other tables is a little much for me, personally, so i wAs disappointed to not be able to play the lower limit ones. Maybe open another? Plenty of people wanted to gamble so... ?? Beyond all of that the place is nice and spacious. The servers came over regularly and drink orders were always correct(and freeeeee unlike Delaware). I would go back but only if I am prepared to play with more $$ and tolerate the dang smoke. read more

I went here for the Empire release party at The Block, it looks like any other casino to me, it's a little small. Also, I don't smoke and I could smell cigarette smoke in the air which was make my eyes and throat hurt, that is such a turn off for me. What I did like was I put $10 in a pennies machine and hit the button 3 times on my 3 hit I won $70, which funded my trip to Chester and back home plus drinks, I was in the whole about $50. read more

The seating is disgusting with spiderwebs, bugs, trash, etc. Very little shade. On race days (schedule online), they seem to have a handful of races. No dress code. Very limited staff/food/drinks. We have been coming to harrahs for many years. I always request it for my birthday, to play video poker and have lunch at the restaurant overlooking the race track. The food was great, big menu, very good atmosphere. So this year we had relatives visiting from out of town. Harrahs was on the list. We were so excited to take them to the restaurant and do some gambling. Once there, we learned that the restaurant has been closed, replaced by a Guy Fieri restaurant that isn't even open for lunch. This casino made some major improvements over the past couple years... To be completely honest, it hasn't been one of my favorite places despite being closer to my home than any of the other casinos... But I would stop in for a few minutes here and there since I have to cross the bridge daily going to and from work. Slowly, all if the things that I disliked about this place started to disappear. Now they have lots of table games, plenty of new restaurants and shops, they got rid of the nuisance bars that would attract plenty of riff raff, and they give back the most comps out of all of the other casinos around. Harrah's also have plenty of entertainment scheduled monthly. Since its gotten warm out, just sitting outside watching harness racing hasn't been a bad pastime. I've been going to Harrah's for years and prefer it to the other casino's in the Philadelphia area. Primarily due to the poker room. I live about 5 minutes from Valley Forge, which is nice when I want to play Blackjack or Pai Gow, however, I'm more of a poker player. I don't like Parx due to the poor parking situation. I don't feel safe when I park there, so I prefer Harrahs due to their valet option or garage parking. The poker room is decent. The dealers are very friendly and knowledgeable. I rarely see mistakes being made and most of them like to engage in light conversation. The clientele at Harrah's is ok. It's a poker room, so you get what you get as a poker player. Downsides: no free drinks for 1/2 game, sometime slow cocktail service, can't use your comps at the table-you have to walk to the bar. Overall, they have limited healthy eating options. Oh and it's across the street from a prison... But even with the downsides, Harrah's is my preferred choice for poker for now. I hope something will open up a tad bit closer, but I can only make it to Harrahs a hand full of times a year. read more

Wow, what a pure disaster of a let down. I just heard on the radio that this particular casino has a great new promotion! If you lose up to $500 on slots, they will reimburse you that $500. What an awesome deal...NOT. Turns out that it's only for NEW Total Rewards Club member sign-ups. And if you're already a loyal TRC member for years, you get punished...I mean, "rewarded" for your loyalty, by being barred from the promotion. I'm so glad I became a member early enough to get screwed over and NOT get $500 back. I guess membership DOES have its privileges. Lousy ones! Anyway, when they started calling this a "Philadelphia casino", it really got under my skin. It's OVER 30 minutes from Philly. And it's located in the WORST and most run down city in the country...Chester, PA. The casino is dark, unfriendly and comes across like a place that wants ALL of your money. Bad payouts, bad service, bad cleanliness, bad vibe...and now of course, bad promotional lies to lure you into the building. It's become a VERY depressing place. My first time @ Harrah's in Chester in Feb 2014, I dropped $3K playing slots. I didn't win anything significant. Maybe $275 out of $3K. Of course it's all a risk but the pay% is terrible. Needless to say I reached platinum status that night. After the experience I said never again will I come here. It was not the cleanest nor the friendliest place to be. The machines were a bit slow responding & often times you have to press the spin button a few times before it would actually spin. So as the months past, I didn't receive any significant promos/offers/slot play in the mail. You would think moving up in status in a single night would get you something. Nope just $10 slot play & $10 dining credit. It's not worth driving 30 mins for $10. Any how someone must have reviewed my account because I received some enticing offers for June which persuaded me to give Harrah's another whirl. Well, in the past two days I've spent $1000 and still the payout ratio once again sucks. No significant wins. Walked with a $160. So even with their slot play the chances of winning a jackpot is slim to none. So again, I left dissatisfied. I didn't even feel great losing my money. A great casino will make you feel good whether you win or lose. I will continue to go to the Sugar house in Philly where it's cleaner, friendlier and the slots actually pay out. read more

The location leaves something to be desired but the staff is generally nice. I go here pretty often, and I play poker 90% of the time. The room isn't as big as Parx, but it has some other advantages. More tournaments bring casual players in to the room. Having a covered garage makes it better in bad weather. Upstairs, the food offerings leave something to be desired. Table game dealers are about average, but there are good ones. You're going to get the most comps by playing slots. All comps and tier points are transferable to other Caesar's properties. read more

I had so much fun in Harrah's ! I'm not usually a Harrah's fan, but this one was great on a Saturday night. I am not sure who was the DJ in the bar near the tables, but I danced the whole time I was at the craps table. The casino wasn't the best looking one I have gone to. Actually, if I was judging on appearances it would simply be "A-ok". Looks aside, there was a nice variety of table games. The minimum on the Blackjack table was $15, but I found a crap table with a minimum of $5. I am beginning to see the high minimum among the various casinos, so a $5 is where I was spending my money. The servers around the tables kept the drinks flowing, and they had wonderful personalities. To be honest, the dealers, security, and cashiers were all nice. In addition to the table games, there was a nice variety of slot machines although I NEVER win on slots at this casino. The downside are the food options. Maybe it was the time of night, but there was Asian restaurant and a sports bar. Both had limited choices. My friend and I ended up leaving the casino and ordering pizza at the hotel. Another downside is location, if you are in downtown or north Philly, I am not sure if the drive is worth it since Parx is in Bensalem. Finally, I hate cigarette smoke, but there are smoking areas in the casino. Yes, there are some downsides to Harrah's, but I had a good time and the customer service was great. read more

So we told her to order again , then she said ok. I waited for half an hour and she didn't come back. Until my husband go to take a glass of water for me. This review is for the Diamond Club Lounge Buffet. I actually like the casino, but the Diamond Lounge is seriously lacking: Came up at 7 pm on a Monday night. The only choices were pea soup, salad, chicken tortellini and eggplant Parmesan. Everything looked like it had been sitting out for a while. They must have just run out of meat at the carving station because that was cleaned up but the people sitting next us had a beautiful looking piece of rare beef. Looked at the FAQs and saw food is served til 8:30 pm on a Monday night-- either the head chef was completely unprepared for the amount of people who came or the staff just doesn't care. What bothers me is that $20 in points is coming off my Reward Credits for this crappy meal, and I'm getting charged the same as someone who actually got some of the beef! When you check in you are asked what you want to drink and then you are told what table to go to-- as in-- you're Table 6. Nothing else. No direction of where to go. No one comes to meet you to bring you to your table. You need to wander around until you find your table number. For a Diamond Lounge this place is absolutely ridiculous. Then we sat at the bar-- the bartender was very nice-- but we got charged a moderate fee for getting 2 beers. It was cheap, don't get me wrong, but I have never paid for alcohol in any Diamond Lounge before. I would not recommend this place to anyone-- go to one of the actual nice restaurants they have here.
