When we started, we only knew what we didn't like about our current kitchen. Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. We are so happy with how our backyard turned out! Need for Build completely transformed the space…read moreand it honestly feels like we have a whole new backyard. Before the renovation, we basically had a lot of dirt and a cooking island that took up way too much space. Now we have a pergola, artificial grass, a new retaining wall that was pushed back to give us more usable square footage, and our old cooking island was relocated and turned into an actual backyard grill area. We even have a dog run now, which our dogs absolutely love! Michael was our project manager and he was awesome throughout the entire process. He was super easy to communicate with and always gave us a heads up about what was happening next. He also helped me a lot with the layout and gave me different ideas and options at different price points, which really helped us figure out what we wanted while staying close to our budget. Something else I really appreciated was that Michael was upfront about possible hiccups that could come up during construction. Thankfully none of them actually happened , but I liked that he prepared us ahead of time instead of potentially surprising us later. The crew was also super nice, the craftsmanship came out great, and they finished everything on schedule! Probably the best part is how much we actually use our backyard now. We've already started having BBQs and hosting people, the dogs have their own area to run around, and the whole yard just feels so much bigger and more inviting. His crew was very professional and did an excellent job with taking care of the details in the renovation project. I was most impressed when they laid down thick cardboard on the floor to prevent any scratching during the construction. They really take care of their clients. Mary is a literal pro when it comes to the insurance side of things. She worked tirelessly on the supplements to ensure we maximized our RCV payout from our insurance. She caught things the adjuster missed and helped us get the settlement we actually needed to do the job right. Having worked with designer's Mary Jennings and John De Luca before, made the decision easy to reach out to them again. They came up with a design based on our needs and vision and boy did they knock it out of the park. The thing I love most is the schedule - You know what and who to expect every day. Our project manager Lance Hawkins was always prompt via text or email to keep us updated on the day and beyond. The subs they use to complete cabinet instalation or electrical and plumbing were aslo professional and courteous.
