Rudy (the owner) personally saved my home a few years ago during the storms when a 5 foot diameter, GIANT pine broke roots and leaned heavily, directly over it. One of its smaller trunks broke loose and completely crushed an 8 inch thick, 6 foot tall, steel reinforced concrete sound wall. He came out the moment there was an opening in the storms and PERSONALLY, rapidly, completely removed the tree with excellent clean-up at a shockingly reasonable price. His word was his bond. He did exactly as he said he would - and saved our home. The very next day we had another terrific wind and rain storm that certainly would have dropped that monster right on top of us (had we remained in the home...) and would have completely destroyed our home. So one day later would have been too late. Today (8/31/26) his crew removed numerous large, dangerous trees from our home and two rentals. As before, his word was his bond, his crew was on time, did excellent work, and the price was more than fair. I've had several other tree guys over these last 50 years, and NONE were even close to his and his crews skill, integrity, and ease and trust of working. If they were, I would have hired them again. But they all promised the world and delivered the absolute minimum - EXCEPT for Rudy. I would give Cousins 6 stars if I could. Sent out requests for quotes yesterday on trimming my palm tree. Cousins was the most reasonable and I quickly went with them from their stellar Yelp reviews. Confirmed the afternoon appointment at 12:30, for 4 PM. Around 4:15, two friendly gentleman show up - Daniel and Saryo (?). Had some issues communicating since my Spanish is terrible, but was able to clarify a few things using Google translate. I asked Daniel if he wanted to use my little green wheelbarrow and he shook his head "no". I would soon find out why. A minute later, Saryo has all his gear on, is up 2-3 stories, and leaves are falling like rain. Quickly, a huge pile of leaves build up on the ground (waaaay more than I had imagined). Daniel stacks 10 of the leaves on top of each other, does a dead lift, throws them on his back, and carries them from the backyard to the truck/trailer parked out front. The cutting and manual hauling keeps going for about an hour. These guys are super efficient. I felt like I hired Spider-Man and the Hulk at discount prices. Once all the large leaves were taken away, the duo raked all the smaller pieces and used a leaf blower for everything else. My backyard looks cleaner than it was before they came! Time from start to finish was about 90 minutes. I didn't know anything about palm tree trimming, but I would recommend moving everything (pots/plants/furniture) out of harms way (20+ feet? I should measure). I covered some small plants (planted in the ground) with a tarp and put some supports underneath and that worked well. Common sense I guess - The leaves are pretty hard and are falling a few stories. In conclusion, these guys do an excellent job with trimming, are very quick at disposal, are respectful, and work cleanly. On top of that, it was an amazing spectacle - I have never seen anything like that. So, if you want tree trimming and a show, I highly recommend Cirque Du Soleil - Cousins. read more

Jose and his 5 man crew arrived as scheduled to remove an Oak tree in my backyard that was growing close to the fence and boards in the fence were being uprooted. The team did an outstanding job of removing the tree as well as grinding the stump thereafter.I also had them remove another smaller tree that was growing between my fence and the fence of the school that borders my property and they did a nice job of removing it...future problems averted. After the job was done, they did the cleanup as well as hauled away the debris. They were very professional and properly equipped. Working with this company was a pleasure. We had a redwood with the top 12+ feed dead; they topped it and cleared away the dead wood quickly. Other trees with dead branches were pruned including an oak with branches at least thick branches at least 10# in diameter. * Stumps were not removed properly and 6 suckers grew back within 3 weeks * Crew broke my irrigation pipes and hoses - ran their stump grinder and chainsaw over them * Crew busted two of my steps that leads up the slope because they tried to get a stump grinder up there without a ramp (BTW, he never offered to fix it for me) * A one day job turned into two and on the second day, I found out he wasn't insured so I had to ask him to stop because I was concerned that he would break more things * He never returned my request to redo/help with the sucker regrowth on the stump I made the mistake of picking Jose & his crew from 8 different bids to save 18%. Turned out to be a costly mistake and I'm kicking myself for this. 1) I found out on the second day that he didn't have insurance 2) Other than the lead guy, the workers do not seem to have much experience 3) The stump grinder guy went over the stump with the grinder only on the surface - it was never ground down below grade to minimize chances of regrowth You may think you're saving some money but I would not hire these guys for any large trees or more complicated work (e.g., sloped grades). *I gave him numerous opportunity to return my call and work with me on a resolution. Instead of dealing with this in a professional manner, he has chosen to send all my calls to VM and not answer my text messages.* I picked Cousins because they had great reviews, just as you may be considering right now. I do not expect companies to do a perfect job each project - but do expect them to try to alleviate any issues they cause promptly and with care.
