I originally contacted them to obtain a price for removal of 5 trees as well stump grinding. Their price was fair and once we agreed on the timing they got to my home on time and began working immediately. A couple of the trees were quite large and had trunks which spanned well over six feet, but this represented no problems for their expert workers. They had ALL of the trees removed in a matter of hours, not days! When it came time to grind these massive stumps Clayton contacted me and came out to get the job done. His skill and professionalism made this task seem like child's play. He arrived when he said he would, explained what he was about to do and then did it! I have hired them a few times for general pruning of a very large Liquid Amber tree (49 years old) in the back yard.....and most recently, to prune my 400+ year-old Blue Oak Tree in my front yard. I reached out via Yelp projects for three huge Italian cypress trees and some shrubs. I received an immediate response and we set up a day/time for a free estimate. The man provided us with an amazing quote, and we couldn't pass him up (other estimates were much higher). The mom who's owns the company called me to schedule a date and time for them to come cut down the trees. Although there was a misunderstanding about grinding the stumps, they honored the estimate per our discussion, and from there, everything went smoothly. They cut the trees down, and scheduled a date and time to come back to grind the stumps (after PG&E marked the ground and added yellow flags). FYI- the fine print on the estimate paperwork states that they do not take stump grindings, so be prepared to get rid of that yourself. read more

C&W Tree and Landscape Co. came yesterday and removed redwood trees, overgrown Bay trees, acacia, volunteers and overgrown cape honeysuckle that had taken over the entire hillside in front of my house. They also removed a row a dead, tall camelias blocking my windows too near the house. They were excellent helping me comply with fire prevention & aesthetics. Our foreman, Jeromy, was always there, listening to help me & instructing workers, who did perfect work. They were very skilled & friendly. We have a Deodara Cedar that is roughly 60' tall that was becoming thick with growth that we needed trimmed for maintenance. I also wanted the tree to be cleaned out to minimize a fan affect from any high winds we may experience. Additionally we had some dead limbs that I wanted removed to eliminate potential hazard risks in proximity to overhead electrical lines on a busy street. C&W was one of three companies (out of six total) that responded within an hour of me posting our project on Yelp. All three companies scheduled onsite estimates within a week of contact. Jeremy was on time for the estimate, conducted himself in a professional manner and was easy to engage with for determining how to best meet our needs. He noticed we also have a Hollywood Juniper tree closer to our house and advised how to maintain it to minimize wildfire risk; we live in a very high wildfire risk area so I'm extremely appreciative of Jeremy's additional perspective. After obtaining the two additional estimates we decided to go with C&W because: 1.) Fully comprehensive insurance coverages, 2.) Cost estimate and 3.) Personalized customer service and care. We scheduled the work day which included a window of 10am to 2pm for work completion. They asked if I could be sure the curb area in proximity of our home could be reserved to facilitate the work which we were more than happy to do. Jose and his crew showed up about 10 minutes early (NICE! ), verified the work to be performed and then got started almost immediately. We were the second of the three jobs they had scheduled for the day. I observed the work as it was being done and I was impressed with their safety practices and the work crew efficiency. An estimator (Jeff) came out in one day to give a quote on cutting down 2 huge Italian cypress and balancing another. Because one tree was literally falling over into the street, a second was growing over neighbors roof and the third needed limbs cut to avoid it growing sideways it was a job that demanded immediate attention. Anna, the manager, managed to squeeze me in for 2 day service, which right now is difficult due to all the storm damage. I did pay an extra $500 rush fee making the total come to $2540. Because they were cypress I didn't need stump removal (whew) cuz they don't grow back. The workers were efficient and fast and totally cleaned up the area. NOTE TO ANYONE WITH ITALIAN CYPRESS: per C&W you do not need stump grinding! It costs extra and the trees do not grow back read more

A week ago I called for an estimate - see picture. The estimated cost was unbelievable high which made me try for another estimate with a company which I used 5 years ago, which by the way had twice as many reviews and ALL 5-STARS. Neighbor's large flowering pear tree fell onto my house and deck during the big Oct 24 rain storm. Called Clayton the following Friday morning after insurance was done with their inspection. Provided fair price, competitive with 2 other services, made even better with a "golden book" coupon. I deferred work, not wanting done during recent rains. When I saw that was ending and dry period ahead, I booked. Large crew arrived as scheduled and worked busily ... over 5 hours including lunch, to trim/thin/shape 5 trees (two quite large) in my yard and one in neighbor's yard (also large, we previously had trimmed only to fence line).
