Very helpful employees. I went around the time of last Christmas to find a Traxxas RC car and the employees were super helpful. There is a wide variety of model airplanes, toys, RC vehicles, and more. There was also this friendly cat wandering around the store like he owns the place, so I assume it was a bodega cat. This is a great shop for the hobby enthusiast--not just the craft aisle at a local big box. We walked in within the last half hour of business one day to get some model supplies. My son brought in a model kit which had been given to him by his grandfather before he passed away, and he wanted to get supplies so he could assemble it nicely. (Presumably) the owner and his daughter were very nice. He walked my so through items he might need and what materials worked best in his experience. I thought his attention was really nice since I'm sure this model was not the best, most detailed one, and certainly not one which they sold, but he still took the time to provide the best feedback. As we were checking out, the owner reached behind the counter and offered my son some boxed models he had gotten in a lot purchase; he told my son that they were small scale, intro models, but they would be good for him to practice before he got the his grandfather's model. It was a super nice gesture, and my son had a great time building the models. read more

Bought a remote car there. Came back to get help from the shop and was told the shop is closed until the holidays is over. The owner was really short about it and candidly a jerk. No people skills or customer service what's so ever. I would think twice about buying something here as the owner clearly doesn't want to service it later even for money and clearly could care less to help. They did finally help but man it was like pulling teeth. Wasn't asking for free. Asking to pay for service. read more

Since purchasing the store 2 yrs ago, the new family owners are doing a great job...more product, current product, better variety. The "SERVICE" is nothing short of outstanding. I am into O gauge Lionel trains and RC airplanes and the selection of models is great. I have had them special order items, and help me with items I did not purchase from them. They have several knowledgeable staff members. They are now open on Sunday afternoon for all of us weekenders. Prices are fair and even on special order items they covered the freight which was better than if I ordered on line. read more

Wow! Walked in with 7 people behind the counter. Never got greeted! Was looking to spend a few hundred and had to ask for help. Never got any so I left. 2 people behind counter didn't even look up and say thanks for coming in. Everything in there could be bought online so guess where I'm shopping tonight????? Hard to support local businesses when they could care less if you come in or leave. Strange that at Christmas time I got no service! And no they were not busy helping others! This place has been under new management for the past couple months. The new folks there are great. They are knowledgeable on parts and products of everything they carry and more. Other reviews on here (especially of the "old man") are the previous owners and a correct description. But the current owners and employees are extremely friendly and have gotten me back into enjoying my hobby and taking the trips back and forth. read more

I drove over 2 hours to Spent over $900 at this store and got kicked out the second time when I tried to return the product. My purchase was a Ummagawd Vortex 250 quadcopter. The first one wouldn't work after getting all the way home to GA. So I returned it, their employees worked on the vortex for around 3 hours before determining that it was a faulty unit. So they gave me the option to return it or to exchange it, so I exchanged it since I had all the time invested in it. So I get the second one all the way home again, start getting ready to fly and discovered that it didn't come with the right amount of props! So I call and Oak mountain hobbies tell me to contact the company so after checking the company only could receive emails!! So I emailed them and still to this day(2-2-17) haven't received an email back. SO I WAS TIRED OF DEALING WITH IT!!! So I go to return it and they told me I couldn't return it and told me and my black girlfriend to leave!! THE NEW OWNERS ARE RUDE AND RACIEST!! The female owner told me that the first Vortex that I purchased was working and nothing was wrong with it, that it was something I had did to it. She said I just liked to return stuff because I had told her of my first drone I had purchased from Best Buy that I also had problems with (battery). I don't like returning products and driving 3 hours just for the hell of it!!!! So beware of this place if your like me and want to buy QUALITY PRODUCTS because they do not sell them!! read more

Great store!!!!! Wow, It's been a long time since I've been to a hobby store this good. Hugh place with a great selection. Prices are very competitive and the staff was very helpful with a problem I had with an item that I had not even purchased from them. My kids loved the place and was thrilled by the fact that a staff member flew a small plane inside the store for them to watch. A good day all around. read more

Great store!. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Tons and tons of stuff to chose from. Best hobby store that I have been to in a long time. Employees were friendly and very helpful with questions that me and my children had. They loved the train layout. We bought a quad that they helped us set up and gave us many helpful hints. Bought a couple of models too. Found some older ones that I had been looking for but could not find anywhere else. Will be back soon. read more

Terrible Customer service. I drove almost 2 hours to shop here and had to deal having my son scolded by the owner when he was doing absolutely nothing wrong. Later he had the nerve to scold my wife for touching a O scale locomotive I had handed to her. I was considering purchasing it and it was sitting out. No harm no foul. But this place certainly does not appreciate their customers. By all means do not enter this toy/hobby shop with your children as they are NOT welcome here. The owner made that very apparent. In this day and age when brick and mortar hobby shops are being driven out of business by online retailers it amazes me when you get poor customer service from one of these establishments. As much as I wanted to support a more local business, my money will go to an online business. I may just be a number to them but a little customer service is better then what this place gives you. The treatment by the owner went way past rudeness and was borderline abusive. What ever happened to human decency??? I only wish I had read some of the reviews of this place before I decided to shop there. Take my advice and pass on this place. They don't deserve your money. read more
