We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics. Very cool. Plenty of parking. Appreciated the additional 20% off of purchases for the comic book day, and back issue prices are fair--more expensive than some, far cheaper than others.

I was blown away by their inventory and everything they had. From Star Wars, Marvel, DC, TMNT, GI Joe, Transformers, Horror Figures and so much more. Something else that I thought was so cool and spoke to my heart was all the toys from my childhood. The guys working here were very friendly and offered help and were there to help when needed. Unfortunately I was short on time so I wasn't able to spend as much time browsing as I wanted. I didn't even get to go through their comics, but they did have several long boxes and what looked liked a pretty nice comic collection. I wish I had found about them earlier so I could have spent more time there. I'm definitely looking forward to my next time in Birmingham so I can visit again. The store is so well stocked and the prices are great. I bought three figures and next time I'm definitely leaving room in my bag. Definitely check them out.

It's nirvana for the nostalgic and middle-aged, and it's hard not to leave with *something* because there are a lot of great deals (and a lot of bank-breakers, too!). You'll leave with an armful of great stuff at a great price and the feeling that it will make perfect sense to drop $300 on a signed Kuiil action figure from "The Mandalorian," which I'll probably do someday. So much more to offer and they rotate stock (and or just sell it really quickly). If you're into comics, this store needs to be on your list of places to check out. Variants you will only be able to find online (maybe ebay) are displayed in a few different areas. Well worth a trip in to check them out. Always pop in here for a few minutes when we are in the area.

i'd advise serious card collectors to avoid this place because that seems to be their goal here…read more they have no interest in acquiring a respectable tcg inventory, only in ripping people off. will turn down your high value cards, offer 40% of the value for anything mid tier or below, then turn around and price the resell at 20% over market price in addition the displays feel like you're in someone's garage checking out their departed grandfather's old knick knacks if you're standing at the register and ask to buy one of the singles, they don't tell you the price or get it for you. you must to go over to a computer, put in your info (sus) and create an "order" so they can walk 6 ft and ask your name to verify the "order" you just placed 4 seconds ago i felt gross just typing this, but hopefully it saves someone the time i wasted today. gave it a shot and crashed hard until they take the industry more seriously, not worth your time or money if you're someone with self respect
