They loved shaky eggs and singing and listening to more books. We will come and max out our library cards... so I was glad when I could get library cards for the girls (max physical items you can take at once is 50, max online from Libby is 15 loans and 25 on hold). Now we don't have to worry about limits since we have 3 library cards. The girls love Crafternoon in the summer and the scavenger hunts around the kid's section in the library. We could spend all day here if I didn't have to work. The online selection is really good and allows us to save lots of money on books. We love the library and all our Cedar Bluff librarians!

Walking around I saw students studying, foreign people reading books or visiting, children reading with parents, those without home computers and smart phones using the free computers. The staff are super friendly. Books are available for a 3 week check out with an additional 3 weeks (2x) for a 9 week total borrow time. Call or go in to have your books renewed. The library offers children's activities, story time, and adult reading time. Books and media can be returned day and night at the outside drop box.

This branch is on the small side but has a good variety of books and children's videos. They have an inter-library loan system which will deliver to your home library from another local branch, so that's convenient and can be done online. My favorite things about this library are the ereader free loans (I get a new book to read almost weekly) and the location. It is in the same lot as Founder's Park, which is amazing to explore. In our previous states/towns, we had tremendous programming for both kids and adults and kids sections with toys and areas for imagination play. I haven't seen much programming listed or any kids area (aside from books) at this branch, but I am crossing fingers that this is due to COVID and not the norm. I guess we'll see!

Got a partial tour of the vast Oak Ridge National Lab. Got to see the site of the first nuclear…read morereaction during the Manhattan Project. Afterwards got to see some of the enormous Spallation Neutron Source. Tons of really technical stuff most of which was way over my head. The history of Oak Ridge is fascinating and it was great to be able to see some of the lab in person. There is much, much more to the lab including the Y-12 National Security Complex and the US Department of Energy. Maybe on another visit. Right now my brain is full.

It was clean, had comfortable chairs, an outlet, and a whiteboard. The only thing that ruined this was the fact that it isn't enclosed at the top so the large study group next door would have been able to hear everything I said just like I was very aware that they're using all their smoothie and coffee trips and Kroger runs for their class. I ended up only writing my speech and filming in my car in the parking lot. It wasn't even private enough for me to be able to take a quiz or efficiently study. I thought being that it was so close to a college that it would have been a typical study room and be quiet with privacy.

I wandered into the bookstore, next to the front doors. For $5, you can buy a bag of mystery books! I searched for two books for a friend, but didn't find them. They do have a very nice selection of children and adult books. Husband waited by the welcome sign while I wandered. He used their free internet to read his Apple News stories.

We were stopping next door at Dollar Tree for classroom party favors and decided to pop into BAM!…read more(Yes, that's the acronym they use, along with the super cool exclamation point). I told my son, "Let's get a gift card for your teacher quick and then we'll be out of here." 45 minutes later, I responded to my child in only grunts, as my attention was sucked in by the clearance kid section, discounted Christmas cards, and of course, the large selection of stocking stuffer-esque gifts near the registers. So many fun things to be seen and read in this store. I mistakenly thought this was a used book store, but it is moreso like a Barnes and Noble with an arguably better selection and pricing. I was a bit bummed that they don't have a free reward program, but instead a paid annual membership program that offers discounts and coupons. I may have considered joining this, but we are mostly a library family, so it wouldn't be worth the cost for us. I will be back and can't wait to explore by myself sometime soon. I think I could spend hours here.

We enjoyed the selection, and had a nice time perusing everything in stock. It was really fun to walk through this store, there were so many books, and so much variety, and even other non book items that we were really excited about like backpacks with our favorite book characters featured. I loved that. I did NOT love checking out. We don't live local to this store, so it wouldn't make sense for us to have gotten a subscription. The check out lady asked us to join and I said no thank you. She kept asking, and I kept saying I was not interested, and I explained that I don't live nearby, and this was a one time special trip. She continued to tell me how stupid it would be to not buy this subscription, and in chastising (and honestly insulting) me, she was holding up the line that was quickly forming behind me. I kept saying no thank you, and I really just wanted to get out of there and away from the situation. I couldn't believe how rude and in considerate this lady was. This could have been a great experience, where I was excited to come back. I love book stores. We have made big trips to other book stores because we love them so much. But this one had me wondering if I would ever want to go to a brick and mortar store again in my life. I wish I could give a worse star rating. Seriously, if there is an older woman working when you walk in, just turn right back around, it's going to be a serious headache if you stay.
