I live in Oakland California and I travel to New Orleans, (Gretna, LA), to get my dental work done at Oak Tree Family Dentistry. At the moment I'm getting a crown in addition to a bridge to finish implants. These guys are the best. The quality of care is second to none. Dr Nguyen's bedside manner is excellent. He has a very calming demeanor which helps you to relax and feel comfortable. He explains in complete detail what he recommends and again before he does the work. The office is special. It's absolutely beautiful. The music is contemporary and a pleasure to listen to. Dr Nguyen occasionally sings along with the songs that he knows. I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but I just felt like I had to after having my first visit here today! I am new to the area and have been looking for a reliable dentist on the Westbank. After trying a few other places, I wasn't feeling too confident about my options. I found this place and decided to give it a try as I was due for a teeth cleaning. I'm so happy that I did! The staff as a whole--front desk, dental hygienist, doctors--were all very kind, warm and friendly. They were very thorough with going over my dental history and any other concerns I might have. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, and made the other places I tried before look terrible. I was super scared to go to dentist since I hadn't been to one in 20+ years. This place is awesome, every single person there is very nice & friendly. First time in my life I don't mind going to dentist. I was in so much pain I was going to go to a 24 hour emergency dentist but I waited till they opened and they got me in ASAP and they numbed my tooth right away while figuring out what I needed so I wouldn't be in pain. Friendly, smiling staff that will get you smiling with confidence! I've been going here for the past 3 years because I was looking into getting braces to correct my crooked teeth! I believe I've made the right choice by how knowledgeable Dr. Tseng is and how she shows the utmost care for your teeth. Dr. Tseng is very thorough when examining your teeth and makes sure your teeth are coming along like how you want them to. Dr. Nguyen also implements extractions in the office if need be, but by appointment most of the time. Dr. Nguyen provides comfort and and expertise during surgery as he does not rush with his performance. Aside from the doctors, the will even offer you a warm neck pillow while you sit in the examination chair! Being a part of the military community means we move quite a lot. We are always so apprehensive when going to a new dentist. I was referred to OTFD by a military spouse, and so I gave them a shot. I had such a pleasant experience with Dr. Nguyen. He came in and explained everything to me and made me feel very comfortable. The office is exceptionally clean and has such a calm environment. I had such a pleasant experience that I made them my whole families dental office. My 7 year old and 4 year old went in and saw Diana and Dr Tseng. Diana and Dr. Tseng made sure my boys were relax and made them feel comfortable as they had their check up. I was avoiding the dentist because I had a bad experience with a different office. I decided to go to Oak Tree because I heard great things about them. You know, it's weird having strangers all up in your mouth. I find it a little embarrassing. Everyone from the receptionist, hygienist, assistance, to the doctors are nice. It makes it less awkward. Dr. Nguyen is very friendly. The day after having my fillings replaced, he called to follow up. I also like that they continue to put vasaline/chap stick on my lips because other places let my lips crack. Dr. Tseng is adorable and friendly as well! I had a consult with her for braces. They both seem very knowledgeable and appears to love what they do. The office is clean and very spa like. They have scent candles lit, warm neck pillows, & (from what I heard) blankets. The equipment look up to date and sterile. I would recommend this dental office to everyone I know! read more

I've been a patient here for a year now (8 appts so far) and I love the staff and dentists! I waited to do this review because I wanted to see if the service was consistent and it is. They are very welcoming and work with you to set up treatment plans to get you were you need to be. And they are conservative with their recommendations (meaning they only suggest what is needed to correct the problem instead of recommending the most expensive, but not necessarily necessary, option). The blankets and warm neck pillows are a plus too! When I came to them I hadn't been to the dentist in A WHILE and Jennifer (the dental hygienist) was amazing. She is very gentle but extremely thorough. I have a fear of choking at the dentist and she had no problems letting me hold the suction tube to soften my fears :) My dentist is Dr. Tseng and she is amazing (and beautiful even though that doesn't matter)! She is kind, gentle and compassionate. She really seems to enjoy what she is doing. She (and the dental assistants - and all of them are amazing too) informs/educates you the whole way through your treatments so you know what's going on. Although I've never been seen by Dr. Nguyen he is always friendly too! Currently I am undergoing braces treatment with them and it's been great! I'm not looking forward to leaving them when it's time to transfer BUT I'm gonna enjoy them while I can!!! It's very modern and clean! read more

I had my first appointment with at oak tree yesterday and I loved it! Mai was so pleasant and we couldn't stop talking.. as she was cleaning my teeth lol. imagine how that went. We have had a great experience at this place all my kids go here until recently in the beginning of this Year when we canceled an appointment and due to that reason they will not schedule me an appointment because I have a same day canceled appointment which I do understand but I have called them several times for the past 3 Almost 4 months to schedule an appointment and every time I do, they tell me that they will call me the day of a cancellation to see if I could make it to that same day appointment, which is unreasonable to say the least. I am so terribly disappointed by this, the dentist and assistants are all very nice and professional but this experience has ruined it for us. Today they said they told me their next appointment isn't until September. Last week the next available was within a week. read more

Really impressed with Oak Tree Family Dentistry. I went in there for an emergency visit to fix a chipped crown. I was presented by my options by Dr. Nguyen and given a thorough run through of things. Didn't sugar coated anything. Everyone there was really nice. Met Dr. Tseng as well. Perfect husband and wife team. I don't have a problem trusting my current and future dental work with them. I had a crown that fell off. Went to a dentist in Metairie who put me in the most pain I've ever had in my life. Long story short, after 2 months, countless visits to her office and an infection, I ended up having to get the tooth pulled because of her terrible work. I was extremely nervous and did not want to go back to her since she screwed up my tooth in the first place. I called around and even went to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon told me (with insurance) it would cost me $450 to remove the tooth and that I needed to be put to sleep because it was going to be very painful. I just didn't believe this (mainly that I needed to be put to sleep) so I began looking for another surgeon/ dentist to remove my tooth. I spent hours reading reviews on yelp and google... and found Oak Tree. I went into the office and explained to them how nervous I was, and that the previous surgeon said it was going to be very painful/expensive. Dr. Nguyen was soooooooooo great, he made me feel so comfortable and assured me that I was going to be ok and that it wasn't going to hurt. They made sure to numb me up well, and to give me time between shots to calm myself down because I was kind of freaking out. (They even offered me a heated neck pillow!!) Dr. Nguyen waited until I was comfortable, and then in 4 seconds my tooth was out. I couldn't even believe it, I was completely shocked- like the oral surgeon really wanted to put me to sleep for this?? Not to mention, the total cost ended up being only $60!!! Dr. Nguyen and his staff were so great, professional, caring and calm. It's hard to find a good / trustworthy dentist or doctor sometimes and I absolutely feel that Oak Tree has a staff that I can trust. Moving forward, all of my cleanings, fillings etc will be done here. I am so thankful and relieved to FINALLY have a good dentist in New Orleans. read more

Even though I have been a nurse almost 10 years now, I had a severe fear of dentists because of several very negative and painful experiences in the past. Dr. Nguyen's office is amazing. The entire staff is always prompt and professional. The office is clean and extremely modern. They have soft candles, offer warm blankets and neck pillows during procedures and TV's throughout the office to increase patient comfort. This is the best experience I've ever had. I highly recommend them for pediatric and adult dentistry. I also wanted to thank Dr. Nguyen for his philanthropy. I will be going on a mission trip to Africa in 3 weeks and when he said he would like to donate a small offering, I had no idea his offering would be 100 toothbrushes and boxes of travel size toothpaste. I've been contemplating for awhile to switch my dentist since my dentist is kind of far away and I wanted to go to one close to home. Since my son goes to Oak tree for his braces and everyone, I mean everyone is really nice and friendly, I thought I'll give it a try. I'm a very abnormal person to where I'm sensitive to everything. During the pandemic, I've been having a lot of issues inside my mouth due to wearing mask and I am so thankful that for once someone actually listens without judging me or saying it's all in my head. I spoke to Dr. Nguyen about my issues regarding the cloth and disposable mask because the cloth mask are washed in detergent, therefore, it had cause me to have dry mouth, burning gums, and aching teeth due to inhaling the scent even though it was minimal, but it had a huge effect. I switched to the disposable mask and it was gone after awhile. Dr. Nguyen listened and reassured me that I was not crazy. The feeling of having a professional that actually listens without thinking they are superior feels really good because you know that they actually care and want to fix the problem rather than categorizing the patient with the general public. Everyone is different and should be treated differently according to their issues. The hygienist which cleaned my teeth did a superb job as well. I'm usually very sensitive, especially in my front teeth and Mai did not hurt me at all. She was very detailed and took her time to make sure my teeth were cleaned which I very much appreciate. Dr. Tseng is also great with braces and is very friendly. The prices are very reasonable and they will talk to you about options if needed according to your personal needs. read more

I've not had many pleasant experiences at a dentist office so I feel compelled to review my wonderful experience at Oak Tree Family Dentistry. To start, the doctors and staff are incredibly professional while still being relatable and approachable. What I mean by this is that I was not at all intimidated or uncomfortable asking questions or expressing my concerns. Dr. Tseng is such a caring dentist. She made me feel comfortable, which is a big deal since I HAD a fear of dentists. Since I was so comfortable, I referred family members. Once my husband started treatment he agreed that both Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Tseng are professional and totally down to earth. While I rarely write positive reviews, I find it beyond necessary to not only register for yelp to leave feed back but highly recommend Oak Tree Family Denistry. Hope this review helps someone out.
