I inherited an Echo weedeater from my Dad that hadn't been used for a few years and wouldn't start. They called to tell me that the gaskets in the carburetor were old and brittle and needed a gasket set installed (which I had anticipated). I said to go ahead. When I picked it up, they had installed an entirely NEW carburetor as well as a NEW recoil start system, which they didn't mention on the phone and frankly seemed fine when I had tried cranking it before taking it down there. The cost of the repairs was $190! The cost of a comparable brand new model was $220. They should have gotten my approval for the major repairs that amounted to almost the cost of a new weedeater. I've previously purchased 2 commercial mowers from Oakboro Tractor, but will never walk in the door of that business again for anything. read more

BAD EXPERENCE!!! I've dealt with this place of business in the past,and was extremely satisfied with the work that they did with my lawn mower so,that's y I returned with another piece of lawn equipment 4 them 2 work on again,with that being said when I went 2 pick it up thinking that it was repaired and paying $40 was told after money was collected that it was un- repaired.So asked if there's anything u can do 4 me? I bought a truck from this company a few weeks ago that was the company work truck. I was told there was no mechanical issues with the truck that they knew of. The staff was nice so I felt comfortable with my purchase. The day after I bought the truck, I took it to a mechanic they recommended to get it checked out. He told me cylinder #8 was dead. I then took it to a diesel mechanic to get a second opinion. He also told me the same thing. The motor needs a full rebuild and is now in the shop. I took hedge trimmers to have repairs and the estimate was more than the trimmers cost. When they called me with the estimate they told me there would be a $40 charge for looking at the trimmer. They did not inform me of this when I dropped the trimmer off. I told them to keep the trimmers because I would not pay the fee. Soon after I got a registered letter that said I would be taken to court if I didn't pay the charge. I threw the letter away! What a rip off from a company that advertises itself as an honest, family company. read more

I had my Craftsman riding lawn mower repaired there. They charged me $85 for a front tire!!!!!!!!!!!! Called them when I got the bill. Mat said their cost was $70. I looked on internet and found exact same tire at walmart for $38.50. Absurd. If you use them be prepared for sticker shock rip off. read more

Bought a brand new tractor here in 2009 new warranty plastic on seat in cab. Had it for a couple months had nothing but trouble with it . Took it to their shop they could not fix it . Took it to another shop tractor was under warranty as new but other shop revealed it was a 2005 model and had been refurbished. After lawyers and two years I won fraud case . read more

I bought a new Mahindra 2555 tractor in October of 2017. I use the tractor around my horse farm to move round bales, till the arena, bush hogging and grading. Don't put a lot of hours on it. For my initial 50 hour service (oil change only) I decided to perform that myself. I went to the dealership to get oil and a filter. They had none in stock. They had to order it, and it took two weeks to get it. I just recently reached 135 hours, and the tractor started cutting off. I talked to my company mechanic, and he thought it sounded like the fuel filter needed changing. Since I was so close to the 150 hour service (which is more involved, including the fuel filter) I decided to take it to the dealership for that service, mainly because of the 7 year warranty. I stopped in one day to set an appointment, and they told me they did not take appointments, but to bring it in one morning and they would get to it. I loaded it up and took it down there. After it was unloaded, I asked when they thought it would be ready, and they said about a week and a half. I complained about that, since it was for a service only, and I really need to be bush hogging. The girl talked to the mechanics and they said they could do better than that for just a service. They said it might need repairs due to the fact that it was cutting off. I said, "well at least it is still under warranty", to which the service manager replied that it might not be. I can't imagine a tractor with only 135 hours not being covered by the warranty. I have called daily to get updates, and they do not have any. They just told me that it might be two weeks before they can get to it, and it has been there for two already. I am not real happy with the service at this dealer. I bought from them because they are in the same county as I am, but next time I am going to try the dealer in the neighboring county. I like the tractor, but I will not recommend anyone else to buy from this dealer. read more

I am from Monroe NC ,Oakboro Tractor has a store front there ,looks like a Good place to do business but it is not . I took my Scag Freedom tractor the last week in Feb. for tune up and fix various things. Come to find out they have 3 stores but only one repair shop which is in Oakboro. I called after 2 weeks they are working on it ,it will be soon , called again a few days later ,they said way behind but working on it . another week goes by parts came in, lie after lie after lie. Finally it is done on Thursday but can't get it to Monroe until Monday. I took my truck and Trailer to Oakboro 40 mi away to pick it up my self . They were supposed to clean up wash it ,not done no help. I got it home ,I got it home and found out they didn't fill the Hydraulic System which they stated they did. I ask them when I was in Monroe to check the charging system and fix anything that was wrong . when I got it home, I had to jump it called them back they said it wasn't on the work order. I said you know if I knew you would take a month ,I would have taken it some where else, you should have informed me. All they did was say I apologize . They also would not call back when called repeatedly for information . they did come to my House and pick the mower up about the charging system ,1 week , 1 week later I call it is a dead Battery ,1 week to find a dead battery and I still had to go get it.
