It has an area for children to play, a baseball diamond, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court and plenty of grass. Surrounded by rolling mountains, it's a beautiful park. The park is well kept and attended by friendly locals. Highly recommended!

Tons of dirt to ride your bike in. It was a great place for a Birthday party. Fast forward and its changed to accomondate safety regulations. Plenty of places to walk, there is a basketball court, play structures, shade. A great place for families to walk their dogs and make memories.

My friend brought me to this hiking spot and I was so grateful, it was lovely. I love that Satwiwa…read morehas many different hiking paths so that you can try different routes each time. This also helps to breakup the flow of hikers as you get more privacy with more routes. Satwiwa is great for beginners and intermediate hikers. There are plenty of pathways with low incline and even walkways. But if your feeling more adventuresome there were paths a little more rocky and the farther you go we could see major inclines. This hiking area appeared both bike and dog friendly. Not a lot of doggies when we came today but a few. Didn't see many dog walkway trashcans but the routes were clean and picked up after. We saw a lot of cyclists. Thankfully the major pathways are big enough for you to walk safely to the side and for people to ride down the middle on their bikes. I felt safe as you could see miles ahead and the walkways were busy (not crowded) but I never felt isolated. So if you like a more private trail maybe not for you but it was comfortable and I still felt out in nature. Beautiful sights of the hills and flowers, fresh air, and loads of walkways to travel. So glad my friend helped me find this spot and I can't wait to add this area to my regular weekend walks.

Trail can be accessed of Lindero Canyon Road between King James Court and Wembly Avenue. According to All Trails, this hike is a moderately challenging route due to a steady uphill climb to the peak which is an elevation gain of over 1,000 feet high. This loop provides expansive views, cool rock formations (including partial caves for pictures) and various plants. Springtime is a great time to check out this hike with the bountiful plants in full view. On the trail, you can commonly see wildlife including snakes and lizards. Mind you the snakes blend in well- so be on the lookout. During springtime you will see baby snakes abound. As the trail is not shaded- bring plenty of water, a good hat, and put on some suntan lotion! Happy Hiking!

Welcome to Simi Valley's "secret" place…read more (Actually, it's not exactly a secret. If you frequent the river jogging path on the west side of town, you'll see it all the time. But stick with me.) First off, the entrance. Guarded by two trees more grand than those surrounding them, the dirt pathway into the park is easily missed because of how the entry is squeezed in between homes on either side. It almost feels like you've found a secret place when you finally do spot it. Admittedly, the playthings in the park aren't the best. There's a simple structure with a small swirly slide; a couple of concrete cylinders to climb on and crawl through; and a frontier wagon that looks as it has caught fire, leaving only a (climbable) gutted frame behind. Even the two swings in the park are starting to show wear and tear, with their metal crossbeam unsettling more and more on the wooden support posts that hold it up. Even the spinny-go-round has--Horror of Horrors!--broken down, snapped at the base, leaving a hunk of a metal platform wrapped in yellow caution tape to warn the kids to stay away. The broken-downness of it is what makes it a special place to me, though, especially when you contrast it with the rest of the park. There's dirty dirt under the playthings, but the patches of grass behind them is kept well-groomed and is lush with green. There's also the jagged plunge into the rock-lined river bed at the open edge of the park, shielded from view by trees which don't do it with quantity, but quality. But Frontier Park is my favorite because of its location. The park is set just before a bend in the river that sends the water towards the horizon, where the Summer Sun sets. This causes the sunlight to reflect off of the water in the riverbed, making for a very pretty early summer evening. There are probably better places to take in a sunset around town. There are certainly better parks to take your kids to. But for some reason, being here, in my "secret" place (that's not so secret), with everything coming together, makes it perfect.

What's better then hiking?…read more Beautiful, well kept trails. Not too crowded but enough people on them you never feel isolated or completely alone. A lot of bikers! So please be mindful when you're walking, especially with your dog. We saw a few close calls that could have been avoiding by being aware. During summer there are a bunch of snakes so keep an eye out for that. The trails range from easier to hard, so you have plenty of options. Haven't been there since the fires but the hills still look beautiful from home.
