I've had only great experiences with the folks here. They are fair with their pricing and seem to love what they do!

It was urgent to get fixed- -they were available next day to do surgery to remove it. Cost was less than I expected for a large surgery! When we had to come in days later for wound draining, that visit was no charge. I Appreciated that follow up visits were included in original surgery fee. Dr Jon was great, thorough and clear in his explanations. Thankful for both vets we saw and all the staff!

My…read moreonly prior issue is I don't think they didn't let my doggo out to go to the bathroom when I dropped him off for shots / biopsies at our most recent appointment. We've spent I'd guess around $2,000 there in the past 3 years (most recent visit was $1,001 two weeks ago. But I'm bummed about the experience I had with the male doctor at the practice. I paid for 4 biopsies and they only gave me 3 results. The 4th biopsy didn't have "cells" on it to analyze. Something went wrong, either with the extraction process or at the lab (the doctor is blaming the lab, we have no idea what happened). He wanted to charge me for the 4th biopsy again and I explained that I paid for the biopsy already - I'm paying for results. I'm a realist, I get that mistakes happen and I don't mind bringing up dog back again but I'm not paying again, so I shared that with him, calmly. He might just be a sensitive fella I don't know...he said "we'll figure something out" and cut the line on me. Called back 10 seconds later and the front desk assistant said he was in surgery. She is very kind, truly. But I guess dishonest....whatever. I hope they make it right. I'll update this post with however things shake out. Maybe they'll get 4 more stars if they do the right thing. EDIT / UPDATE - they resolved everything and I've got an appointment scheduled for the same biopsy (done again) for no charge. The doc also apologized to me, which I think takes a real person to own up to things like that.

I've been bringing my dog here for the past few months due to ongoing ear infections, and…read moreunfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. At the first visit, they treated his ear and it improved temporarily, but the issue returned within about a month. I was told to come back for a recheck, but was surprised to be charged a full exam fee (nearly $100) just to be seen -- not including any testing, medication, or treatment. When I returned after his symptoms persisted, they repeated essentially the same treatment that had already failed. When I asked about additional options like a medicated ear wash, I was told they would provide it at a two-week recheck -- meaning I would have to come back and pay another full exam fee just to receive it. Two weeks later, I went back again because his ear was still bothering him, and once again, I was charged a full visit fee. I was told to "keep doing what I'm doing," despite no improvement, and that if it continued they had a second, third, and fourth plan. While I understand wanting to take a less invasive approach, repeating the same treatment without results -- while continuing to charge full exam fees every visit and requiring additional paid visits just to access basic treatment -- is frustrating and expensive. Especially when each visit is already $100 just to be seen before any additional costs are added. I asked if they would consider waiving a recheck fee given the issue had not been resolved after multiple visits, but they declined. This is the first veterinary office I've experienced that charges full exam fees for every recheck on the same unresolved issue. It made me feel like the focus was more on billing than actually solving the problem. I truly wanted to trust them with my pet's care, but after months of the same issue and repeated charges without resolution, I've decided to seek care elsewhere.

I scoured the internet for weeks and signed up for pet search engines, adoptapet.com and Petfinder.com. On October 30, 2014, a male yorkie mix posted on petfinder.com. He called out to me. His name was Teddy and he was available through LowCountry Animal Rescue in Summerville. I completed the extensive on-line application. They checked our veterinary reference and made a home visit. As rescue groups look to make the best match, we were thrilled when we received that approval phone call the next day. You see, while we do have a fenced in yard and retired, sometimes, the match is to a household with multiple dogs, or children ... both, of which we had neither. We went to a 'meet and greet' at the PetSmart on Rivers Avenue, the next day. Would Teddy like us? Would hub like Teddy? It was love at first sight and we loved him every minute he shared our lives until he passed almost 7 years later. We had huge holes in our hearts but knew the time was right to fill the void with another precious soul who needed a fresh start. Back to the search engines. The first email in my inbox on New's Year's Day was from adoptapet.com. I couldn't believe my eyes when Clarence's face popped up on my screen, up for adoption through LowCountry Animal Rescue. I had submitted an updated application a month earlier and was approved. As such, I sent them a message with lots of questions to which they responded right away. I asked for Clarence to come to the Adoption Event at Petco, Summerville, scheduled for that afternoon. Clarence was beautiful ... a yorkie-schnauzer mix (Snorkie). Joe and he started bonding right away. He was just who we needed ... and this 6 year old needed us, too. In no time, we were a family of 3, again, on our way home. LowCountry Animal Rescue is a small group of volunteers who foster in their homes. Their fosters come from shelters and owner surrenders. They are responsive and take care of the dogs, cats and any other furry kids that are in their care. Adoptions are on weekends at pre-publicized Adoption events around the greater Charleston area. An approved application must be on file. The animals come up-to-date on shots, Heartworm tested and neutered or spayed. Both Teddy and Clarence were crate trained and house trained. Looking to open your home and heart? They're on Facebook ... Google them and click on 'pets available for adoption' on petfinder.com. Please adopt ... don't shop. You'll be saving a life.

He does have some separation anxiety but my other dogs do also, and this is a common trait with the breed. He was up to date on vacs and his medical info from all his vets was provided. He appeared well taken care of. I would adopt from this rescue again.
