Overall a solid shop, had a smaller selection of boards but I'd say about the same as you'd see at the Vans store in the mall. Pretty solid prices and good to know they have snowboard rentals once the snow comes back! The worker there when I went was very nice and helped me find what I was looking for (shop stickers as well as a few skate parts.) There's probably more "shop merch" than anything which is great if you want to represent where you're from. Overall a solid boardshop. read more

If you buy snowboarding or skate park-related equipment, this is a good choice of a local store, rather than heading to Zumiez. I wanted to see the skateboard decks and related equipment to see what selection was available. It wasn't a huge selection but they had plenty. They also had gear for scooters, along with some complete scooters that seemed a bit too much. Shoes were at full retail and they had little cards in them, apparently to show an inventory of sizes--surprisingly, they didn't have anything I wanted in my size. They had plenty of clothes, sunglasses, and other items, along with friendly service. I'd think that people from Modesto, Riverbank, Ripon, or Escalon would be right over for their skating needs. read more

Loaded to the ceiling with the most unique, locally branded items. After getting exactly what I needed to adjust my skateboard , I found my self exploring the wide array of sandals, t-shirts, shorts, wake boarding, bikes, sun glasses, watches, super cute clothes, and the list goes on... This place is perfect for an active, sporting lifestyle gift that can't be found anywhere else in this area. Truly a gem of a shop, be sure to check it out. Very cute clothes, but unfortunately my experience at Oakies was not good. The shop owner followed me around the shop and immediately refolded the clothing I had just touched and was possibly interested in buying. It was odd and made me feel uncomfortable. This gal needs to be fired. 2pm on Sunday November 3rd. No music in the store. Myself and my sister and mom (30s and 70s) told us to leave the stroller at the front. Which I totally get but if you'd get off your butt you would actually be conducting customer service. Never got up or offered help. Extremely rude and is paid to work on her laptop. I manage a retail store in downtown Slo. She would be gone in an instant. Too bad this is what represents a nice small town company. We will not be going back. read more

Horrible customer service from a female employee at Oakies skate shop; I had a frustrating and unprofessional customer service experience with Oakies skate shop while trying to purchase a birthday present for my daughter... I placed an order for one of my daughter's birthday presents with Oakies Skate Shop because Oakies Skate Shop online system showed what I ordered as being "in-stock" and their website accepted my money and gave me an order number; as if it was real... I thought it was odd that their online system did not send me an email conformation, so I called Oakies Skate Shop to confirm my order because the birthday present is important and time sensitive for my daughter. The woman who answered the phone at Oakies told me she did not want to turn on her computer to check my order, and then she asked for my phone number and told me she would call me back. A day passed and I still had not heard back from her, so I called Oakies Skate Shop again and once again the same cartoon-voice woman answered the phone and had multiple excuses, rather than an apology for why she did not call back as she had promised... After additional nudging I finally got her to look up my order and Oakies Skate Shop never had the product in-stock that I added to my cart, paid for and I had to call multiple times to follow-up on, because she lacked basic professionalism of being able to return a call as she had committed; RE product she is accepting money for within her store, but does not actually have in-stock and does not has access to order. Oakies Skate Shop will most definitely waste your time, while not following through professionally when they commit to doing so. I ordered, paid for and I had to follow up on my order several times, to discover that truthfully Oakies Skate Shop is accepting money for product that they do not have in-stock and cannot get; Oakies Skate Shop wasted my time with their unprofessional communications and inaccurate inventory management. read more

Just moved to town and have been curious as to what Oakies was... I recently stopped in and was so surprised by what I found! The clothes they carry are incredibly cute, adorned with rhinestones, lace, and everything else girlie. The men's clothing is excellent too. I love the kid options, as well as the "oakdale grown" shirts. I didn't buy anything that day, but we will be back as a family to support an awesome store (its the only place I like in Oakdale to buy clothes now!) First I searched "clothes" in Oakdale because I was driving through and wasn't fully prepared for the weather. Oakies was the first store to pop up. :) I stopped by and this AWESOME lady name Cryndee helped me. And by means helped, she spent a good 30-40 helping find clothes. We went from dresses to jeans to shoes to shirts to hoodies to pants. She was patient and understanding, very friendly and personable. I am so glad that I found Oakies, not only because of the excellent customer service but because of the fantastic selection of clothes, skateboard, snowboards and shoes they have there. Good selection of board shop accessories... BUT the reason for the two stars is for (whom I think) is the owner of the shop. My family and I went when there was an outside sidewalk sale. There were several other customers but for some reason the owner followed us around and was watching us like a hawk. She was resistant to let my son try on clothes in the changing room and just sat at the counter and stared at us. It was very intimidating and awkward. I couldn't help but feel like she was discriminating against us as the only "dark" people shopping. $150 later, her attitude changed at check out but up until that point it was BLATANTLY obvious we were being watched HARD. I will not spend another dollar in that store and to be honest, I probably shouldn't have even made a purchase that day. But the sales were good, so I just focused on that! The woman I am speaking of is a smaller/skinny framed woman, in her late 40's with dark long hair. I hope she see's this review and reconsiders how she treats all patrons. read more

Great board shop on the way to Dodge Ridge or the lakes. Having grown up in Oakdale, whenever I go back it is always nice to stop in the store and see a well merchandised board shop. So we stopped to buy lift tickets on the way to Dodge, seeing they had a sign saying they sold lift tickets, except they do not sell lift tickets for Dodge Ridge, so lift tickets available is evidently only if you do not wish to go to Dodge. Also needed some pants, and gloves. Bought them both, a bit pricey, but not too bad, except when we got to Dodge, the pants buttons were ripped. So on the way back, stopped to ask them if they could fix this. The girl working said she would send them back to be repaired. A month later I stopped by to find out what happened to my pants, and she "forgot all about them, but would definitely call on Monday". Two weeks later, no response from them. So if you dont want Dodge tickets, and want to buy damaged stuff, they wont fix or honor their promises, go ahead and stop by. read more

Horrible customer service. Two of my friends and I called to reserve snowboards to pick up two days later. Owner told us they would meet us at the shop at 7am . we were there at 7 am , and they were no where to be found. We waited an hour in the perking lot and finally left. Thanks for wasting our time. I've gone there multiple times now where I've sat & waited half an hour after their posted opening time of 7am & the store still hasn't opened. They've delayed at least three boarding trips now because they won't open on time for rentals. I've had to take my service up the hill to more expensive shops because of it. read more

Cute shop but way over priced. The owner compared my boyfriends glasses to shoes saying they are wearable items therefore she didn't do the return. Sunglasses at Oakies for $120 sucks, now the original pricing of $75 is reasonable. Highly disappointing. Please check prices else where before purchasing high price item, or anything in general that they write out their own "reasonable" pricing on a lil sticky note... Rip off! Highly disappointed how a local business tries to take advantage of their customers by way over pricing items that other stores have for a way better price! read more
